Milbrook Strategic Sciences MFMD (Multi-Function Muzzle Device). A supressor, flash hider, and Muzzle brake.

How is it both a suppressor AND a muzzle brake?

Suppressors reduce recoil but don’t vent gasses out the sides like a muzzle break but are not quite as effective at reducing recoil as a brake.

A suppressor that directs and vents gasses out the side would reduce recoil more than a normal suppressor but also be MUCH louder than a standard suppressor.

This second bit would be fairly useless given 5.56 is very low recoil with a standard suppressor. Why significantly increase noise signature for a disproportionately small reduction in felt recoil.

These are the monolithic uppers colt canada produced a few years ago. For about 30 seconds the MRR were on the market and looked really nice.

Is this chambered in 5.56 or is it similar to the newer US rifles in 6.8 Fury?

Still 5.56, although they are trying to introduce an upgraded version of it to get better lethality and range

I had heard rumours a ultra high pressure 5.56 was being texted in the US, I believe using a 2 part steel and brass casing like the new 6.8 does. I saw a video on it a while back and it was running at 100k psi but still apparently worked in standard AR/M4s with very little modification and pushed a 77gr at something like 3500fps or so. Wasn't sure if it was BS or not, but seems like it may have been legitimate.

Wouldnt say the budget is low considering this is easily among if not the best equipped rifle for regular infantry.

There's a suite of preexisting accessories troops can choose from and choose to mount on the rifle depending on mission requirements. The rifles your seeing are just the standard issue versions with no grips, lights etc.

What components make it different from the m4? to my eyes it looks like the same system but what changed inside? Is it more reliable?

I hate to say it, but all AR platforms are basically the same visually.

As long as the receivers lock together tightly and you have a good barrel, it’ll just as accurate as any other rifle.The internals are more so what help with reliability. I’m sure some well practised Google-fuu will with the testing results.

Realistically the bigger difference is the newer optic and muzzle device. I would honestly be curious to see how comparable a well kept C7/C8 would be with this optic and MFMD stuck on it would be.

That said, I’m sure some of the current C7 receivers have been in use since the late 80s to early 90s. I can’t imagine how they’re doing after 30-40 years of use, so it was probably about time some newer production receivers started rolling out.
