I have a Ruger Marlin 1895 SBL 45-70 and am looking for a scope mount that allows me keep and use my ghost ring, because I'm just built this way. I found the UTG AIR31850 which is...next to perfect (pic 1).

Now for the dilemma that almost makes this mount perfect. As you can see there are a total of 5 "lugs" that fit into the picatinny rail (3 full size and 2 nubs). The 1895 SBL isn't quite a "full" picatinny rail as after the first several there is place where it bolts into the frame without any rail spots (pic 2).

In order to get this to fit where I need it to be (at least more comfortably), I would be looking to...shave (grind) off the red circled little nub-lug (pic 3) so it fits over that plate on the rail. I've seen other mounts using 2 slots, 3 slots, 4 slots, 5...yadda yadda. How compromised do you all feel this would make the mount, if at all...or would it be fine to do this? Has anyone else done something similar before?

And yes I'm aware its being mounted "backwards" but this is due to the needed eye relief (feel free to roast me idc).

I noticed 313 Operator had a Crusader Arms Backland Comp when he was showing his collection on Instagram. He had previously done a video on his Akdas Alcor Kodiak Edition which had been modified with a Made-in-Canada Kodiak parts selection, including an adapter that allowed use of an AR buffer tube, pistol grip, and trigger, and M-Loc fore-end. I asked him which he preferred, the Crusader Comp or his Kodiak-modified Alcor, and he stated he preferred the Alcor. So if you can't wait for the Makasi or Carmel and need something you can buy right now to scratch the .223 itch, in 313's opinion the Alcor is your best bet.

Look, considering what the Canadian gun community has left to play with these days, I think we need to be a little more accepting of people messing with their SKSs.

Exporting firearms, ammunition, parts and accessories from the US: most items are controlled under ITAR and you cannot, as an individual, export these items from the USA. Canada does not care in most cases. If you attempt to bring any of these items across the border yourself and you are caught, you will face prison time in the US. If you wish to export items from the USA, use a broker such as IRUNGUNS, Aztech, or Prophet River.

If you took your CFSC and lost the paperwork, you can still apply for your PAL. Both your instructor and the CFP retain copies, you can request a copy by contacting either one. Does anybody have any experience flying commercial domestically with prohibited rifles?

I’m moving from Ontario to BC in the fall. Among my handguns, shotguns, rifles etc, I have prohibited 2024 era ban rifles that need to come with me aswell.

I can’t seem to find a definitive answer if these are even allowed on planes.
Any insight would be appreciated.

Just ordered a Tikka T3x Lite Stainless in 30-06 — need scope advice

Hey everyone, just put in an order for a Tikka T3x Lite Stainless in 30-06. Haven’t got it in hand yet but should be picking it up soon. Planning to use it for some recreational range shooting as well as deer and moose hunting this season.

For hunting, I probably won’t be taking shots much beyond typical hunting distances, though it could happen occasionally. On the range side though, I’d eventually love to work my way up to shooting 1000m with enough practice — long-term goal, not expecting to get there right away.

Now I’m shopping for a scope, budget capped at $1000 CAD. Currently eyeing the Vortex Venom 3-15x44 in MRAD. Seems like a solid all-around choice given the range of uses I have in mind.

A few questions for you all:

**•** Anyone running the Venom 3-15x44 on a similar caliber/setup? How’s it held up, both for hunting and longer range shooting?  
**•** Any other scopes in the same price range (CAD) I should consider before pulling the trigger?  
**•** MRAD vs MOA — does it matter much for what I’m trying to do, or is it mostly personal preference/what you’re used to?  
**•** Realistically, is the Venom’s turret/reticle setup enough to push toward 1000m eventually, or would I be better off with something else if that’s a long-term goal?

Hey all ! I recently inherited 3 guns. Absolutely no judgement to any legal gun owners out there! It’s just not for me and I would love any advice on what my legal obligations are before I give them away. I know I need to have them registered first before I do anything else. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I understand registration is for the gun itself, whereas license is for the person. Therefore I don’t need a license since I don’t intend on using them….is this correct? Once I register, do I need to do sometime else? For example, do I need to “de-activate” them ? FYI, they are from the early 1900s. They are not considered antiques according to Canadian law. Thanks for the advice fellow Canadians !

I’ve always wanted to get a Winchester 1894 after my dads was stolen when I was a kid and I just was looking for tips or opinions on the rifle. My main concern is how the action works. We go out in all sorts of weather for ranching and I’m worried that since the action opens the top and bottom it’ll get damaged from water, dust, and mud. Everyone’s told me that theirs have never let them down but I just want more unbiased opinions. Thanks everyone for reading.

Looking to add something in the .25 to 6mm range, a 7mm and a 303.

I picked up a Benelli Lupo in 6.5 Creedmoor and a Beretta 1301 MOD2 in the Jungle Stripe on sale as my first two pickups. I tried them out for the first time today at the range as I’ve had them kicking around but between work and family and general life, I didn’t have much time to actually try them out.

And tbh, a lot of fun. The Italians sure know how to design beautiful guns.

I put a roughly 750 rounds through both shotguns. Here are my thoughts:

Canuck TacOp

Pros:
- Significantly Cheaper
- Comes with 3 year warranty by Canadian Company O'Dell Engineering. Great reviews.
- Very Reliable outside of one ammo brand.
- Comes with ALOT of accessories. 5 chokes, match saver, hand guard, hand stop, QD mount and probably a few more I'm forgetting.

Canuck Summary:
I purchased this firearm because I wanted a good bang for buck shotgun. You'll see mixed reviews on Turkish clones. What's important for people to understand is not all clones are the same. This is a high quality shotgun that has exceptional value. Worried about getting a lemon? I was as well, which again if why I choose this Turkish clone as it comes with a 3 year warranty in Canada.

I tested Federal, Challenger, Winchester & Score shells. The only issue I ran into was with the Score shells. They wouldn't feed reliably. All other brands 0 malfunctions. Even cycled lower loads below what's recommended to cycle the gun.

The main reason I disliked this gun is the shell carrier & pinching my thumb while loading the tube. This is 100% a skill issue I developed from bad technique with previous shotguns. None the less, I found it to be a huge negative. I struggled to load this thing fast & consistently. Often with me cursing with my thumb pinched.

1301 Mod 2

Pros:
- Recoil System shoots faster.
- Shoots everything with 0 malfunctions.
- Pro Lifter Shell Carrier makes reloading very easy and comfortable.
- Comes with a hard shell case.

1301 Summary:
I rented this firearm to shoot at a local range. I instantly fell in love with the pro lifter. While it's mainly a skill issue. I liked the idea of completely removing the need for the skill at all. I can easily load this twice as fast & reliably then the TacOp. It did cycle the score with no issues as well.

It comes pretty bare bones. You'll need to spend another $500-800 to get everything the TacOp comes with. Which compiles the price issue of the firearm.

Which was better for me?

Without factoring in price. The 1301 is a significantly superior firearm. With a few after market purchases you can have the same accessories as the TacOp. It cycles everything. It's better built & the shell lifter is amazing. However to get this functionality, I'm now at roughly $2,800 CAD (firearm + accessories to match what the TacOp comes with)

Factoring in price. The TacOP is the significantly superior firearm. $1,000 CAD vs $2,800 is a MASSIVE difference. While the 1301 is better in absolute terms. Relative to price. It's inferior. While I'm sure the 1301 would out last TacOp, I don't think the difference would be as big as some brand snobs would like you to believe. You could buy almost 3 (or 2 if you don't care about the accessories) TacOps and shoot them till they fall apart for the same price of one 1301.

The TacOp is a fantastic shotgun that with the 3 year in Canada warranty helps stifle any quality of production issues.

Ultimately I sold mine in favor for the 1301 Mod 2 because financially I can afford it and I really liked how the 1301 mod 2 loaded. If the TacOp had that feature. I wouldn't have swapped. I would have spent the extra money on Ammo to shoot.

Which is better for you?

Only you can answer this based on your wants and needs & budget. The Canuck M4 Clones have great reviews (mine included) & with the warranty, the uncertainly of Turkish manufacturing is heavily mitigated. Don't sleep on the budget pick if money is a bit tighter.

I'm accumulating some 9mm, 38SPL, and 357 brass. I'm not into reloading. Any ideas for what I should do with it? Does it have any value? I don't want to just chuck it into the garbage.

As a new PAL holder, I was was wondering; what distance should I check my groupings? What firearm do I use? (9mm, .223, .308 Win). And do you use a scope or iron sight? ( I know this is probably common sense for loads of people, but I’m newww)
