Feets / Collection / My build SKS Bubba shaming needs to stop
Look, considering what the Canadian gun community has left to play with these days, I think we need to be a little more accepting of people messing with their SKSs.
I get roasted by the SKS purists every time mine shows up. And technically, mine doesn’t even qualify as a full Bubba.
I get it. If you’ve got a rare or collectible SKS, leave the old girl alone. Preserve it. Respect.
But one of the millions of Chinese SKSs floating around Canada? Come on…

It's not that Bubba shaming needs to stop but that people need to distinguish between Bubba and tasteful modifications.

This.
There's a difference between functional mods to make the SKS a bit more fun & shootable vs. covering it in Tapco with an NCStar scope mount dust cover and Chinese ACOG.
As others have said, it's your money and it's your rifle at the end of the day, but don't be surprised if you get called out for your bubba activities.

I’m good with anything that’s not permanent.
I’ve seen some bougie bubba jobs, so they’re not all bad.

Meanwhile people with aks in America etc put knobs on their charging handles to make it round and more like an sks charging handle

Its your rifle lad, enjoy it. I try not to do anything permanent to mine, being a matching russian, with the exception of a milled bolt to accept mags w/ the bolt closed. Everything else is changeable back to stock. I digress. Your rifles your money, have a blast.

No one gives a fuck how hurt your feelings are. Enjoy your rifle your way. Accept that you're going to get roasted for it. Life goes on and you keep having fun.

Was bidding in two firearms auctions a couple of weeks ago, both had several SKS up for bidding. Untouched SKS were selling for around $900. Plastic and pistol grips went for around $650. Maybe some exceptions but I don't recall seeing any bubbas selling above the price of original never mind the cost of the substitute parts.
It's your rifle and your money to throw away as you see fit but don't expect to profit by "upgrading" an SKS.
edited for grammar

That's the culture, unfortunately. Bubba a SKS...hear about it, buy a turkish m4....hear about it, buy a clone....hear about it. I just fucking ignore all the haters.

There's millions of Lee Enfield rifles floating around to. And unmolested ones go for triple. That'll happen to SKS rifles to in the future if bubba keeps chopping them.
Of course if nobody chopped the Lee Enfield rifles, original ones would be 1/3 the cost.

You’re entitled to do anything you like to your own rifles. Just like I’m entitled to roast you for your bubba’d up sks
