A sporterized No1MkIII with homemade checkering and woodburned moose and deer. It's more Canadian than anything made by Diemaco.

Happy Canada Day with a Colt Canada Flat-Top, Heavy-Barrel Carbine. Identical (less full-auto) to the service carbine that I carried overseas in 2008....

Hey, I'm looking for scope recommendations. I want something that'll be good for a beginner long range shooter but that's also good for hunting. All my scopes previously have just had the normal crosshairs.
1 feature I know for sure I want is turrets with a zero stop.

I really love the SKS rifle, but I also really wish it had a better optic mount solution. I feel the ones on the market currently all have some sort of major drawback, like height being too high from bore, too far forward, or require destruction of the receiver cover latch pin (the latter system also just kinda looking like a solution slapped on top of the core problem, instead of solving it).
So I started sketching / designing a system that I thought was ideal, with the following criteria
-low height over bore
-witness with rear sight at 100m (without optic)
-non-destructive
-allow close optic (eg. full scope)
-easy access to chamber
-hold zero
Turns out this was actually pretty involved. The original receiver cover acts as rear rails for the bolt carrier; it's not just a dust cover. So I designed a mimic of those rails (same latch attachment as the original, so non-destructive), which would interface with a recoil spring latch (attaching to the existing recoil spring). The new cover would attach to the rear sight assembly (requiring the removal of the rear sight leaf, but still non-destructive), and fasten down using pressure from the button (via recoil spring tension). All good - ready to prototype! I've just received quotes from a couple of machine houses and... I think my ideal solution is just wildly out of reasonable cost. The quotes for prototyping made my eyes water. Ain't no one in the country gonna be willing to pay what it'll cost to manufacture. Lesson learned.

Happy Canada Day!
Chassis is coming along. Something something tortoise and the hare... Waiting on my hardwood parts to get CNC'd (buttstock, pistol grip, lower and upper handguard) so I can hand finish them. Shown here is my main steel body for my chassis, a 3D printed prototype of my folding 6-position skeletonized "buffer tube" (attaches to picatinny rears like on the upcoming Makasi) and a 3D printed prototype of an upcoming tacticool handguard design. Hoping to pre-install AK side rails to the chassis so users can use QD AK side rails.
All in all been a busy as hell summer, even though I've been kinda quiet... I'm taking a much needed vacation for a few weeks then coming back swinging this summer. Not shown is an upcoming SKS muzzle brake, AK-style side rail mount and all of my Homesteader stuff. Also gonna start making classic "cheese grater" handguards 'cause apparently nobody else in Canada does anymore lol.
I've been hoarding cardboard boxes.

Is there a website/club/forum that keeps a list of where I can shoot and practice long range in Quebec, Montreal region? Anything than I can shoot prone or from a bench.
I am near Montreal and I always prefer going north. My actual shooting range is about 200 meters long, maximum, and you shoot from a bench/table. I’d like to know if there’s somewhere 300m and maybe over until I found myself a personal spot.
I’m beginning this year and want to experience my first time in a range since I don’t know any nearby crownland or someone that could be my mentor.
Bonus question: I’ve setup my rifle pretty much like it should be, but my friend who got me into LR is away for a couple of months. Should I see a gunsmith to check with my ergonomics with the rifle? Or should I find a “scope guy” and go to a range/field with him?
Feel free to ask me any questions you have about. I’ll update and edit the post if necessary. Thanks for reading!

I need to move to Toronto next month but I really don't want to spend 1 week to drive. Planning to sell my car and take the airplane there. I can ship my long guns to my friends there but how can I ship my pistols to Toronto? Is it possible or I have to drive there myself?

Happy Canada Day.
Canada does have a history of producing small arms, well before the WK180.
What’s your favourite Canadian made rifle? How many Canadian made rifles are in your collection?
I’ll throw out the obvious choice, the Long Branch No. 4 MK I Lee Enfield. I’m hoping to pick up on of these this summer.

Is this revolver considered antique thinking about getting back into guns kinda at a loss with pistols I've seen posts of old welby revolvers legal im just wondering the legality of this one its a very neat old russian pistol it is a gas seal chamber making it one of the only supressor compatible revolvers very innovative for its time it would be a nice collectible im into old revolvers.

I saw someone posted the other day that they bought the new Comp model. I frankly love the look of it, minus the M4 style buffer tube. Not much info on the rifle as it just hit the shelves this week.
Decided to order one from Bullseye to play around with while waiting for the Mk15 to show up.
I have heard all the horror stories on Crusader, and ghosting guys and bad support, issues with the rifles.
I am hoping maybe they have gotten their act together and am willing to be a guinea pig on it.
I was pleasantly surprised to get an extremely fast email response from them. I emailed them yesterday evening asking about parts compatibility, and received a reply first thing this morning, on a holiday too. I was impressed by the speed. I had inquired about parts compatibility with the "shall not be named" other platform. They said the barrels, gas block, handguard, grip, bolt (not BCG), trigger, and i believe dust cover are all compatible. I was pleasantly surprised as there should be lots of possible upgrades available then.
Honestly, I really hope this is a sign they've turned the page on the new model. While they've clearly screwed customers in the past, I gave to credit them for trying to get us modern sporting and hunting rifles to Canadians. My first impression of their customer support was great, far better than the horror stories of the past.
Wish me luck with it. I took the chance and will be the next guinea pig for anyone looking at one. I still plan on getting a Mk15 as well, but this will be fun to play with in the time being.

So hypothetically someone were to have a lower or full wx-mcr with a ruined upper if they'd be looking to get rid of it by chance. I got a MS- mcr because I heard the metals were better in the receiver. Now I'm sad I didn't realize what I missed out on. So hypothetically of course if someone had a ruined or deactivated mxmcr I don't know where much else to look

I am curious what the standard expectation is when selling an item on GP to a buyer in another part of Canada. E-transfer is the default where a buyer is trusted, and I know that the GP rating/reputation mechanism provides some assurance - but I am curious if that is the normal expectation for a distance transaction or if some people use Paypal (and if so, if “goods and services” is the normal expectation or if folks use “friends and family”). Thanks

I'm itching for an SKS and would adore owning an original, unbastardized example. But the looks and tinkering options of these aftermarket builds got me intrigued.
They're priced the same as any other SKS usually, but I've heard bad things about the quality of some of them. Are these prices fair and a good option for a first time SKS owner? Or should I stay traditional?

Recently started attending bullseye/sport pistol practices at the gun club. I also plan to compete in sanctioned SFC matches as well. This is the gun that I've chosen to borrow from the club in the meantime. It's a Ruger Mark II Target. The gun belongs to the club but I will stick to using this exact model every time so I can build familiarity with it.
Hopefully by the end of the year I will have accumulated enough practice sessions and matches to get an exemption letter so I can buy my own "Olympic" style handgun.
I know the state of firearm laws in Canada are trash at the moment but I will continue to enjoy the sport/hobby any way I can.
