Buy recommendations What are some of the best Canadian made firearms?

Happy Canada Day.

Canada does have a history of producing small arms, well before the WK180.

What’s your favourite Canadian made rifle? How many Canadian made rifles are in your collection?

I’ll throw out the obvious choice, the Long Branch No. 4 MK I Lee Enfield. I’m hoping to pick up on of these this summer.

Currently most well known are: MDT, Cadex

Also some smaller boutique shops which I hear are good: Dlask, SBI

And if you were lucky: Colt Canada

MDT is technically just accessories, no actual firearms made by them.

Cadex are beautiful

Aren’t they making a full rifle of their own now?

Edit: looks like they acquired a Utah based company lone peak arms and are making stuff for their existing rifles and planning a fully custom rifle as well

Accessories? What about their chassis?

If you want a chassis for a bolt gun, hands down MDT is your best bet. Solid, accurate platforms for every action.

Chassis is basically an accessory.

I wasn't aware of the Utah company they've acquired. But besides that they don't make actions or barrels.

They make amazing chassis and other accessories that's for sure. Love mine

It looks like their remaining inventory can be found for sale on adventarms.ca. Too bad as well, much of their stuff has ended up on my 10-22 and I found the quality to be good.

Inherited a Cooey 600 from my grandfather with the rabbit engraving. Will never part with that gun.

Just refinished the stock on my dad's 600 and it's looking beautiful. If sell any other gun but not that one.

Savage mk ii is probably the most common, still produced in Canada rifle.

Yup. And mine says "made my Savage in Coburg, Ontario, Imported by Savage Arms... Somewhere in the US". And then apparently re-imported back to Canada. Unless they didn't actually ship it to the US. Although, the way Canada sells crude oil and lumber, it wouldn't surprise me...

I highly recommend Ultimatum precision over any American made competitors. Same accuracy for less money.

Sadly, Ultimatum no longer exists, we took them over after years of issues and now we produce the Deuce 2.0, and HMB, with the Deadline 3.0 relaunch planned for 2027.

The only Canadian made rifles I have are a mostly dlask 10/22 and a WS MCR.

The 10/22 fucks, and the WS MCR did not see enough rounds before getting banned to have any sort of catastrophic failure.

I would love to own a nice Canadian made Enfield, but cannot justify the cost. Some day.

M1 Garand obviously. Despite it being manufactured in the states. It was technically made or atleast designed by a Canadian.

I replaced all my AR parts with genuine Diemaco parts. Diemaco became Colt Canada, and I wouldn't support Colt Canada anymore though.

I may get downvoted but I’ve been very satisfied with my BCL Bison .556 bolt action. The bolt had an issue out of the box but I phoned the company, the guy walked me through trying to fix it, we ended up getting it, he helped me register it for lifetime warranty, and the gun has been nothing but positive since. Shoots everything I put through it no problem and is a lot of fun.

That said, despite being Canadian, I’m aware they have pretty much the Turkish gamble: will you get a good one or a lemon? So buyer beware on that

CADEX! Some amazing stuff. Still have one of their AR-15 lower receiver (double digits).
Colt Canada for their C7/C8 lines, everything else is junk
Can’t forget Inglis and long branch

Man I wish my Crypto receiver wasn’t absolute garbage. The machining was so bad and out of spec that the charging handle sags and catches every time it’s pulled. And the upper and lower are so unaligned it looks comical. Not that it matters now I guess.

Oh the one that I lost in a boating accident was amazing I just bought the receiver without any of the parts and it was a bit off colour but the machining wasn't bad

I grew up on a Cooey model 75 single shot bolt action .22 where you have to pull the hammer back each time as well. It was and is very accurate. I must have sent waaaay north of 10,000 rounds through that gun in my teen and early adult years. That entails a lot more time and thought than going through that many rounds with a semi or even a repeater. 💯 this is the gun that made me a shooter to whatever degree I might be called one haha. This is where I learned trigger pull and discipline, breathing, keeping both eyes open, eyeballing distance and learning holdover techniques, and it was so fun.
