Shot my savage axis 2 xp chambered in 6.5cm and I just have to say, I'm so damn impressed with this extremely budget rifle. My best 4 shot group was a banger, 2 shots in the same hole at 200 yards. I shoot 4 shot groups because my magazine holds 4. The rifle is a savage axis 2 xp 6.5 creedmoor Optic is a vortex diamondback tactical 4-16x44 FFP Ammunition is S&B 140 gr soft points The rifle is zeroed at 200 yards Primary use is coyote hunting

Shooting North bay target shooting

Going up to north bay for a week soon, and wanted to bring my guns, but cant seem to find any ranges that allow non-members. would looking on the CLUPA for some land be my best bet? and after I find what seems like a good area, should I email the MNR and township to be sure? Never shot on crown before so not sure the whole process. Thanks!

Shooting First time at the range — anyone want to show a noob the ropes at the Stittsville shooting ranges (Ottawa)? Late July/early Aug

Hi, I'm in the Ottawa area and have never been shooting before and looking to finally try it out. Stittsville Shooting Ranges seems like the closest spot to me, so if anyone local has a license and gear and wouldn't mind bringing a first-timer along sometime late July/early August, I'd really appreciate it. Happy to cover whatever's needed on my end.

Thanks in advance!

Shooting CA Alcore Tacti-cool Kit video from

Build-N-Blast on YouTube has the only video of the Crusader Arms Akdas Alcor kit in action I've seen.

I like how the kit allowed the fellow to use a foregrip and flashlight, and stock looked reasonably stable for a polymer stock. I've posted to his video to ask him if has too much flex or not. The lack of a mag funnel seems to impact reloads. Could TNA or another maker create a printed mag funnel for the Alcor?

Shooting Long Range in Québec?

Is there a website/club/forum that keeps a list of where I can shoot and practice long range in Quebec, Montreal region? Anything than I can shoot prone or from a bench.

I am near Montreal and I always prefer going north. My actual shooting range is about 200 meters long, maximum, and you shoot from a bench/table. I’d like to know if there’s somewhere 300m and maybe over until I found myself a personal spot.

I’m beginning this year and want to experience my first time in a range since I don’t know any nearby crownland or someone that could be my mentor.

Bonus question: I’ve setup my rifle pretty much like it should be, but my friend who got me into LR is away for a couple of months. Should I see a gunsmith to check with my ergonomics with the rifle? Or should I find a “scope guy” and go to a range/field with him?

Feel free to ask me any questions you have about. I’ll update and edit the post if necessary. Thanks for reading!

Shooting Canuck Pioneer & Challenger Target Load

Post image
10 Upvotes

Got a 100 pack of ‘Challenger Target Load’ and it failed to eject 90% of the time.

Obviously the biggest thing I want out of a shotgun is to skeet shoot with, but I also don’t wanna fork out thousands for a shotgun just to target shoot with.

This gun is brand new and has only had target loads through it. I did buy a pack of ‘Winchester Super X Heavy Game #2 Shot’ and it worked just fine. Both shells being 2 3/4”.

Do I just need to break it in? Should I try Federal Target Load? Do I just get rid of this gun…?

What do yall think. Thanks 😊

Update: Winchester & Federal Target Loads run just fine. They are a bit heavier of a load.

Shooting Range night at the ranch

Got out to the “range” tonight. Shot a variety of firearms. Had alot of fun! if you don’t care to read all this skip to the end where I get to the point. The Savage axis 308 in an mdt field stock reached out to 500 yards on steel with a crappy tasco 4-16x50 I really need to swap it out for something better it’s very yellow and grainy. The taipan x in .223 shot some decent 2” groups at 100 yards. I need to work on my steadiness Messed around with the wrangler blackout in 357 it really rings the 1/2 ar500 plates. Obliterated some 2l milk jugs with the Ege Levar12s and put a couple hundred rounds through the 2 tm22’s the 16” pro is growing on me it runs really nice have a cheap cvlife 1-4 lpvo on it nice crisp picture although 1x seems like it’s almost zoomed out and 1.5 seems to be no magnification it’s also fairly accurate averaging 1-1.5” groups at 25 yards just shooting federal auto match and less than 4” groups at 100 yards as i can hit the 4” ar500 plate pretty much everytime.

Okay here’s the end. the Morisson lever iron wolf is still my hands down favorite plinker. I was having some light strike issues after 400 ish rounds which turned out to be gummed up firing pin I think it was 1 in 5 light striking and I cleaned the pin out with brake clean and air and it came out black and chunky. Tonight I tried it out for the first time since cleaning and first shot. Light strike. Damn it okay let’s keep going well the next 70 rounds no light strikes so I’m thinking it’s fixed lol. Also pretty sweet groups at 25 yards the bottom group was free standing (I’m fat and out of shape) the top 2 were sitting and resting elbows on the table. Not to bad the more I get out the better I’ll get. Shit this part was long too sorry guys I’ve got no friends and my wife doesn’t wanna listen to me ramble about this stuff. Anyways get out there and have fun!

Perfect day to get out and shoot! I just went and shot the crap out of a rotten pineapple and an old PC while I was grilling my steak. Benelli Supernova, TM22, and CZ457 off the back deck.

With all the bullshit going on these days sometimes it can be hard to enjoy the hobby. But there's nothing that brings a big goofy smile to my face quicker than getting out there and slinging some lead. In the moment, I can almost forget what's happening to our sport. Pineapple PC massacre ftw. 😊 🤙🏻

Looking to buy ammo, specifically shotgun in 12ga, 20ga, and 28ga. I was wondering if anyone had used https://ammobin.ca/en/ . Curious if it's the best way to find reasonably priced ammo, or if y'all have any tips or sites you use to find the best deals. TIA

Shooting New Beretta 1301 Mod 2 - clean and first shoot

It looks like I should clean off all the grease/oil the shotgun came with. And then put some gun oil on it.

Any advice? Small drop of lube everywhere there is metal on metal contact?

Weather was milder in Southern Ontario and I hadn't taken this gun out in a few years. Nice to have lighter gun to carry even without a sling. No rabbits around though but glad I got out.

Shooting Southwestern Ontario target shooting spots

Hi all,

Got the bad news from the OPP and relevant authorities that target shooting at Fingal Wildlife Management Area is not permitted, even though hunting is. Makes sense, right?

Anywho, I’m appealing to the kindness of target-shooting friends here (we’re not strangers really, we’re all comrades-in-arms just trying to enjoy our hobby despite the government unjustly suspecting us of nefarious motives) who happen to reside within an hour’s drive of the London area. Do you happen to own/know somebody who owns private property where it’s permissible to target shoot? I’d really rather not drop over 400 clams at my local range next month for a membership, I just wanna shoot my flintlock and my .22, with or without supervision. I have my own targets and am willing to travel up to an hour from city limits.

A man should be able to enjoy his hobbies but unfortunately the powers that be just don’t like fun. Thanks for reading and happy shooting!
