so what are the thoughts on the Uvalde school shooting?

Disasters like this are central to discussions of gun control.

I know most of the takes are going to be garbage, interested to see if there will be anything new and reasonable in the replies.

What take is there to have? Easily preventable, police sitting on their ass from the new reports coming out, schools should have security teams. Gun control doesn't work

Nvm I see in your replies that you don't particularly care for the OIC since you're "still able to do what you want". Absolutely ridiculous. You're already expecting garbage takes from us so you may as well have not said anything.

correct. I am not opposed to the OIC. I would have preferred it be done with specific, objective parameters instead.

But then the OIC wouldn't exist :)

I agree with its objective to reduce availability of low recoil semi-auto carbines. I don't agree it's the right method, it's missed a bunch of stuff, and very poor job of communication, explanation. Restrict vs. prohib another aspect.

But why is it an issue for us to own them? Is there data out there showing that we're misusing them?

u/[deleted] May 26 '22

They're weapons of war 😖

Which ones? And why does that matter?

I'm being sarcastic lol

Gotcha xD

they've been previously misused by some people to great harm. That's the thrust of the OIC.

He didn't have a licence though. In fact, he had a firearms prohibition. And the RCMP were informed that he has firearms, and yet nothing was done.

Why should I have to pay for the RCMPs incompetence and this countries inability to secure our borders?

so why keep bitchin about the FA when the RCMP is the problem. Start bitchin' about the RCMP!

u/RentedZone CU Shotgun President May 26 '22

What..? Why can't I bitch about unjust firearm laws AND shitty RCMP officers?

“low recoil semi-auto carbines”, you’ve just given me stage 4 cancer 😵‍💫😵

-17

u/[deleted] May 26 '22

that's what most of the OIC is.

u/Mr_Canada1867 May 26 '22

lol, a fuck ton of muzzle loaders were also banned. They even banned RPG’s and Stingers 😆 the OIC was a COD/BATTLEFIELD weapons list

-10

u/[deleted] May 26 '22

muzzle loaders banned by the 10kJ limit? I'm OK with that. Still, could've done it without an OIC and some people would still be mad.

So an antique elephant gun is an assault weapon?

-4

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

the OIC includes things that aren't "assault weapons". I'm OK with the 20mm and 10kJ rules. Too bad about the antique elephant guns, if there are any.

6

u/Newfoundgunner nf May 27 '22

Why are you okay with that rule? Is the old flintlock fowling piece on the wall of my old bosses cabin that dangerous? Is a dangerous game gun that belongs to an old man such a risk that you’d take away his one keepsake from when he went on safari?

Ban guns that I dont like or own? I'm ok with that!

See how stupid that sounds?
