But why is it an issue for us to own them? Is there data out there showing that we're misusing them?

they've been previously misused by some people to great harm. That's the thrust of the OIC.

He didn't have a licence though. In fact, he had a firearms prohibition. And the RCMP were informed that he has firearms, and yet nothing was done.

Why should I have to pay for the RCMPs incompetence and this countries inability to secure our borders?
