News / Politics / Activism Some ASFCP numbers with models
From our CCFR friends, of course the GSG16 is #1!!!
150
u/King-Conn Jun 11 '26
Only 38 thousand people? Damn, that's even lower than I expected. Good job lads
94
u/Ov3rReadKn1ght0wl Jun 11 '26
Out of 2 million... Staggeringly low.
55
56
u/DougMacRay617 Jun 11 '26
38 thousand too many
40
u/Reasonable_Hall2346 Jun 11 '26
Look at it this way, the majority of restricted owners have a backbone. Someone should parse that table and give us a breakdown of restricted vs non restricted. With GSG leading the way( why they have multiple entries?) i wouldn’t be shocked if majority is previously NR firearms.
46
u/DougMacRay617 Jun 11 '26
Wild to me that so many people would willfully disclose NR guns and hand them in. Half the incentive to grab NR's was their lack of registration with the confiscation gang.
17
u/Dependent_Account603 Jun 11 '26
Look at the M14 numbers. There's a few thousand. The actual number is estimated to be more than AR-15, so close to if not over 200k.
1
u/RigPIG_16 Jun 12 '26
My thoughts were, when did norinco make the M14, I know they made an M305 but did they actually start making M14’s and I missed out
7
u/Remarkable_Vanilla34 Jun 12 '26
A lot of these guns were things you could buy at cabelas or canadian tire, so for some "casual" gun owner, who picked up a gsg16 for their kids to shoot, the potential risk wasn't worth it over losing their license or getting charged. Then there is the small number of PAL holders that are die hard LPC supporters.
The big take away is a lot of this stuff is post 2020 OIC shit, "cope guns" that people bought and probably realized will be worthless if the SCoC rules in our favor. I don't agree with the argument but i have seen people say that they would rather get paid for their Wk180c because it was garbage and they know they wouldn't get much for it if other models were legal again.
I also think post 2020 people rushed to buy these guns thinking they wouldn't get banned or would get grandfathered and then after the 2nd and 3rd OIC came down, they decided they would turn them in because they were worried about breaking the law. FOMO was probably created buy the handgun freeze and people thought they might miss out on an opportunity, especially as the ban and confiscation dragged on for years. After a couple years i was becoming pretty confident that they wouldn't do anything else, the government would change or they would revert to some sort of poorly thought out grandfathering scheme.

u/Q-Ball7 In the end, it's taxes all the way down Jun 11 '26
It's not wild to me. A majority of old people voted for this.
8
u/Barbarian_818 Jun 11 '26
The Liberal Party practices "big tent politics". The majority of voters don't give a shit about firearms and firearms law. It wasn't a campaign plank in most regions.
So a lot of people were voting Left for other reasons. And somehow the Party came to the conclusion that the small but well organized and militant Anti-Gun demographic needed to be placated.
There are a lot of aspects that make me suspect that, for most of the officials in the Party, their hearts really aren't in this. There's a lot of things that feel like "shooting from the hip" about this.

u/NIBLZ_HAMSTR Jun 11 '26
Still 38000 too many, as far as im concerned... I was thinking that a lot of these guns were from retailers that suddenly found themselves with millions of dollars worth of firearms that nobody could legally buy... made me feel better than thinking that gun owners were stupid enough to go for this garbage.
7
u/dgod40 Jun 11 '26
They always said it was the numbers for individuals. It was the weirdos here that kept saying "must be businesses". That being said, I can't believe how many NR owners sold out their Brothers and sisters, especially all those gsg owners trying to recoup their little bit of money.
9
u/Remarkable_Vanilla34 Jun 12 '26
You have to remember that they sold these things at Cabelas and Canadian Tire and a lot of people just bought them because their cheap and cool looking. "Causal" PAL holders who don't have much invested in the politics. I was always quite confident that we would see a lot of this shit turned in because its doesn't have a lot of monetary or sentimental value to a lot of people who purchased them.
I suspect Poly and the LPC will have some photos of all these guns laid out, in black and white to hide the pink plastic and wood stocks lol. That is a favorite tactic of Poly, they used to do it at press conferences all the time.
3
u/swift_gilford Jun 12 '26
"Causal" PAL holders who don't have much invested in the politics
Agreed. Also its been a few years, and people have life changes. Who knows how many of these had circumstances that (unfortunately for the rest of us) that they needed to this. Perhaps a spousal reason, recent widow/widower. Maybe getting married or a kid on the way that freeing up some cash on a hobby you may not actively be taking part in anymore. Perhaps the veiled threats of jail was enough for people to get in early because they may feel they have too much to lose.
Again, it sucks for the rest of us but i'm gonna go with a grain of salt that these people did what was best for them at the time.

u/rastamasta45 Jun 11 '26
Finally getting some numbers in, as I suspected a decent amount is garbage rods coming in. No shocker there
I can guarantee, there is more than 705 Norinco M305’s in the wild, Daniel Fritter from caliber mag mentions a story where a shipment of 40,000 were sold out in 5 days….only one shipment
20
u/Dependent_Account603 Jun 11 '26
There's actually more on the list, they're listed under a few different frts. Still no more than a few thousand. I didn't add them up. They were leaving the shelves at the near the same rate as SKS rifles for a time.
I betcha a lot of people will withdraw due to them amnesty extension.
5
u/dgod40 Jun 11 '26
There is no way the majority of the people who ran for compensation are going to withdraw.
9
u/Dependent_Account603 Jun 11 '26
I said a lot. Not a majority. Wouldn't surprise me if 25% don't follow through.
8
u/Remarkable_Vanilla34 Jun 12 '26
Just doing a skim earlier, i think at least 10k of these guns are rimfire models. LOL models that are legal in the UK, a country that wont let you own a pocket knife. Remove the numbers from Saskatchewan and Alberta, people who withdraw or don't show up, and the LPC has spent 6 years, nearly a billion dollars (so far) to confiscate maybe 40k guns and with maybe 10k of those being plastic rimfire plinkers, that can just be replaced by a different model lol.
7
u/_axeman_ Jun 12 '26
Wish I had an M305. Was humming and hawing about buying one on like April 29 2020 🤦
2
u/RigPIG_16 Jun 12 '26
But they listed them as M14’s not even M305’s, if you’re going to use the law against people shouldn’t you have to use the legal names of the item, half adding at its finest
2
u/zulu_tango73 Jun 12 '26
Both have separate entries in the images posted above. I believe they were branded as M-14 at first, and the changed to M305 for whatever reason.

I have an appreciation for your organization. Are you, perhaps, associated with crusader arms?

No, we're not associated with them.

they don't know. I bet /u/SpectreBallistics kept their records only for the minimum legal retention period.

103 HK MR ;(
12 TNW MG34 ;(
16 FS2000 ;(
111 FN PS90 ;(
Somehow the Bren 2 MS shows up twice with the same FRT number, wonder what that's about
CZ CZ Bren 2 Ms 196384 SOR2024 12
CZ CZ Bren 2 Ms 196384 SOR2024 525
17
u/Lumindan Jun 11 '26
Did some intern copy paste it wrong?
I'm gonna have to see if it's because of the R vs NR ones
14
3
3
u/GinnAdvent Jun 12 '26
Those are very rare ones, especially FS2000 and MG34. This is on another level of sacrilege really.
2
u/AdeptArt Jun 13 '26
Yup the FS2000 was discontinued like more than a decade ago. A true unicorn. And now we have 16 less ;(

u/rastamasta45 Jun 11 '26

Full list, wonder how much it’s all gonna cost 👀

Upvoted, thanks for the link (but you probably could've put this in the post body.
14
u/TescoValueSoup Jun 11 '26
$89.9M is the total based on the listed amounts on the portal. Less the amount people are ripped off by.
3
u/nineshotwonder Jun 12 '26
Now after going down the list I'm curious what "Homemade Single Shot Rifle" is, how something that sounds seemingly so cobbled together were made standard enough to get an FRT number, and how scary it looks to have gotten banned in the first place.
30
u/julienjj Jun 11 '26
They ruined a lot of kids summer fun with that amount of gsg-16.
No javelin picked up yet 😂
3
25
u/TescoValueSoup Jun 11 '26
4,000 GSG-16s at the top of the list. Well done Gary, really cleaned up the streets of all those firearms designed for the battlefield.
18
u/Relevant_Diver_3228 Jun 11 '26
your welcome we will be painting the rest of the black ones pink and shipping them to Ukraine
9
2
u/Remarkable_Vanilla34 Jun 12 '26
No, you guys will just use black and white photos at the press conference
25
u/StalkerRigo Jun 11 '26
seeing the SVT, all the cool norincos, mini-14s, the GSG .22, guns that I would love to have, on this list, broke my heart
13
u/Mirin_Gains Jun 11 '26
Lol @ SVT40. People hey.
14
u/pte_shit_bag Jun 11 '26
Wild this many svt40s were binned, insane move
18
u/alphawolf29 Jun 11 '26
theres probably 100,000 svt-40s in the country, they were the second cheapest rifle for like a decade.
7
u/pte_shit_bag Jun 11 '26
Well fair there was a ton, just sad to see the historical ones binned, plentiful here sure but many countries less so, shame is all
7
u/rastamasta45 Jun 12 '26
What especially kills me is the AG42’s! There’s only like 32,000 of them in total in the world! Ugghh
2
6
u/rastamasta45 Jun 11 '26
I think it’s boomers who picked it up for 300 to 400 and got a pay day. As per boomer tradition, sell out the next generation, they got theirs
7
u/OvertPlatypus Jun 11 '26
Appalling to see historical arms destroyed but the offer was 2k where most probably paid 250. Spineless nonetheless

2.5 million fully compliant PAL holders and god only knows how many non offending gun owners who are out of compliance (old dudes who let their license lapse or what ever). Its really embarassing.

8
u/Reasonable_Hall2346 Jun 11 '26
Haha and they are going to be claiming success. Some of these sold out 20-30x the figures listed in the short amount of time they were on the market (looking at the R9 as example).

Lol.. dude.. canada has never been more strapped... its absolutely incredible. Lol SO MANY GUNS.... So many new firearms license owners and applicants... it makes my heart swell up with pride.
10
u/SleazyGreasyCola Jun 11 '26
I've never had so many normal people asking me to take them to the range, how to get their pal etc. I must have gotten at least 15 people into the hobby in the last 2 years. This is in Toronto core as well which is wild.
Before the last couple years I maybe talked to 8-10 about guns over my whole adult life in the city. Now even my gay coworker and my 75 year old mom are asking me to take them to the range.
6
7
u/SierraKiloGulf Jun 12 '26
Our PAL and RPAL courses have been steadily booked up since the 2020 OIC. At least 30-40% more people getting their licenses than before.

u/FailedCoder86 Jun 11 '26
To the Canadian market?
4
u/marston82 Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 12 '26
Yes in Canada. They tried to export to New Zealand in 2019 right before they had their ban.
2
15
u/Lumindan Jun 11 '26
So many of these were either 22lr plinkers or hot trash (wk lol).
Numbers lower than I expected which is good but its disappointing to see how many previously NRs got listed
6
u/rastamasta45 Jun 11 '26
So so so so so many 22’s holy moly, thanks Gary, you saved the lives of many gophers and pop cans, I can sleep easy tonight!
10
u/Relevant_Diver_3228 Jun 11 '26
your welcome
next we will get the rugger 11/22 which is the most deadly weapon of war because it is chambered in the huge 22 gauge meant to destroy tanks and warships/s
6
u/TescoValueSoup Jun 11 '26
This dude already made a sheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yAXk7PnjZlH4cz0TW_--SwAEPBOWGpMW/edit?usp=sharing
7
u/rastamasta45 Jun 11 '26
Now we know why the amnesty was extended, it’s over budget, they slashed the compensation to 69 million, this sheet alone is 20 million more…..they went over budget even with the laughably low numbers 🤦🏽

Why would you ever give up what is essentially the rolex of firearms? There are some on there though, sadly.
7
3

I noticed that too, but they are further down the list sadly.
Too much risk on the discretionary price to even declare the restricted ones.

26,670 total on those two pages. 5,368, or 20.13%, are .22s.

honestly not needed, people have the info on a few links in the replies.
This is doubling the length of my browser window.
4
u/Murray3-Dvideos Jun 11 '26
Im surprised by the ratios here... figured 50% of the number would be restricted rifles.... 30% would crappy 180 Variants and 20% would be other NRs..

4
u/SierraKiloGulf Jun 12 '26
Right on. Well over 100K AR15s alone in this country and we are just turning in .22 pea shooters and giving a big middle finger to the LPC.

u/rastamasta45 Jun 11 '26
Man 90 million for compensation (over budget as they only put aside 69 million) but imagine what good that money could have done anywhere else

u/R4ID on Jun 11 '26
GSG16 is #1!!!
its also #32 (or #6 on page 3)
(they counted the GSG 16 and GSG 15 Twice. with the same FRT for both? kinda confusing not sure whats going on there? the gov is just double counting guns to boost numbers or what?

u/TRUMPSTER_12 Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 12 '26
I wonder who the 20 M72 LAW owners were.
Probably a business is most likely.
Also happy to see that the one Walther WA 2000 owner is holding out.
3
u/22GageEnthusiast Jun 12 '26
So I just did some quick math. There's approximately 2,425,627 PAL holders in Canada based on the last update so there's probably even more now. Out of all these PAL holders only 38,412 of them actually participated in the buy back program. Rounded up, that's like a 0.02% compliance rate.
Of course not every PAL holder in Canada owned one of the OIC affected firearms but I'm sure that percentage wouldn't go that much higher if only affected firearms owners were counted.
Also, I can guarantee you that the majority of the people who took part in the program were mostly elderly dudes and their families who just wanted to get rid of the headache firearms before they croak.
3
u/Remarkable_Vanilla34 Jun 12 '26
Also look at how many of these guns became popular or were manufactured/imported after the first OIC. The government is basically "solving" a "problem" they created lol.
Also a large number of these guns are things that you could buy at Cabelas or Canadian Tire, so many of these people who participated were "casual" PAL holders who weren't politically committed to the issue.
2.4 - 2.5 million PAL holders in compliance and probably tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of non compliant, non criminal gun owners (think the old guy who lets his license lapse or whatever)

u/Remarkable_Vanilla34 Jun 12 '26
67k guns declared at it peak, from 40k people. But people have withdrawn, will withdraw or not show up, SK and AB numbers may have been declared but they won't be collected. That 67k can be reduced by 8500 right off the bat by removing those two provinces.
2
u/coniferslav Jun 11 '26
I thought this was for banned models and yet I see some people handed in 1908 Mausers?
2
u/ObjectiveStage3117 Jun 11 '26
Was the SVT even on the ban list?
Dont recall seeing it but maybe that’s why I haven’t been able to find any for sale haha

2
u/Jabronski95 Jun 12 '26
People should also realise many of these will be businesses, from gun stores to gun Smith's and manufactures even third part manufacturers the vast majority will not risk their license and business for relatively low value items. On top of that you have museums and ranges that have loner guns. Taking that into account these numbers are very low by any stretch. The majority as many have pointed out are low value and or .22.
2
u/scratch_043 Mauser Master Race Jun 14 '26
Why is the Ruger PC carbine listed twice?
Edit: actually, a few are listed twice.

I withdrew my application this week! It was for an AR 15. I didn’t think I had a choice due to it being restricted, but it was a quick call to get out of it.
1
u/HappyCan7250 Jun 12 '26
Wow, that deadly weapon of war, the AsSauLT RiFlE 15!!! Didn't even make the top of the list (well, except the MP15 - sort of) Wonder where the other 80k+ restricted ARs are? Good job guys. Fuck the LPC and their property expropriation attempts.
This is about more than just guns. It's about denying the government the ability to seize property, and while the general public may not realize it, we are making a stand and drawing a line against seizure of private property for ALL Canadians.

u/Fuck_you_all22 Jun 15 '26
Those scary 22lr rifles. I feel much safer now. They belong in battlefields not on our streets. I mean battlefields of squirrels.

151
u/Ov3rReadKn1ght0wl Jun 11 '26
So... Basically the weapon of war they got the most 'off the streets' was the GSG16 across all brand categories. That notorious 22LR weapon of war... What a joke.
