News / Politics / Activism You can withdraw from the ASFPC

Post image

WITHDRAW from the ASFCP: if you’ve already declared your firearms, it’s not too late to withdraw. The program itself outlines how to do so.

How funny would it be if the final participation number was lower than the last number they reported

u/Spider-King-270 Mar 26 '26

Oh please Lord let this happen

32

u/GinnAdvent Mar 26 '26

Lol, that would be awesome!

Can you imagine them saying total collect is 24k after March 31st, and journalists be like wait, isn't it 46k 2 weeks ago?

Ugh, about that....

3

u/i-Hermit Mar 27 '26

They'd cook that number.

u/Mythic01 Mar 26 '26

"We are compensating gun owners"

"Oh, uh, but only if you live in x place and feel like rolling the dice"

28

u/Candid-Tomato2971 Mar 26 '26

What if someone lives deep in rural BC, or up somewhere in the territories, or on a reserve? I’d be surprised to see that photo of the police coming to a reserve to disarm the indigenous, that would set off a lot of people on the opposite side of the political spectrum

19

u/Eisenbahn-de-order Mar 26 '26

Well on contrary please do. I do want to see them set off people who's typically anti gun

We pay our employees, unless we run out of money, then no guarantee you get paid, but you still have to work regardless. - Liberal Party of Canada basically.

Redeem yourself folks. Let’s see those numbers go down

Edit: here’s a link the CCFR has made. Send to people, if you know any, that have declared

this, they wont be getting any compensation, the smart thing is to immediately withdraw, especially those with former NR's.

45

u/SecureNarwhal Mar 26 '26

that would be amazing if in the last few days the registrations went down

16

u/Molnutz Mar 26 '26

I would love to see a Provost-psycho-presser if the numbers went down.

78

u/CringelordCameron Mar 26 '26

Yesterday I convinced someone to withdraw, he declared his gsg16. It felt great to lower the number.

44

u/soviet_toster Mar 26 '26

Let's give Natalie something really to be upset about

43

u/TescoValueSoup Mar 26 '26

Calibre Mag is reporting that there's only enough money for ~36,000 firearms now.
Meaning ~20,000 of the firearms declared wont get a cent.
https://x.com/Calibremag/status/2037044708908646441

The right move is to assume you're one of them and back out.

31

u/thxxx1337 Mar 26 '26

I would be ecstatic if somehow the number dropped in the last week

21

u/Ov3rReadKn1ght0wl Mar 26 '26

Alright, big W strategy: everyone mass withdraws and takes care of their firearms on their own time while the program budget still grows.

53

u/rastamasta45 Mar 26 '26

For those that declared NR’s theyre dumb and shit out of luck.

But for those that declared R’s, honestly might as well withdraw since no one is getting paid, only Quebec.

10

u/NightFuryToni Mar 26 '26

...but Mr. Minister said he will pay for it personally!!

/s

3

u/SurtseyHuginn Mar 26 '26

Got many NR and Rs , live in quebec, doesnt give a fuck about this bs

3

u/Mythic01 Mar 26 '26

Tough choice either way for people that don't intend to hold onto their guns past Oct 31. Damned if you do damned if you don't

26

u/rastamasta45 Mar 26 '26

I don’t think it’s a tough choice, hold on to your legally obtained property. This is a dumb unenforceable vanity project to appease a clearly unhinged woman. Why would you give it ups.

7

u/conanap Mar 26 '26

As much as I dislike everything that’s going on here, and I won’t be signing up for this buyback, some of us just don’t feel comfortable being technically in breach of the law - I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.

I’m one of them. I’m not going to hang on to it because it’s illegal to do so, and I’m not here to tell you what to do. We can tell ourselves that we obtained this legally (which I did), and that the OICs and laws passed are unfair (which they are), but it doesn’t change the reality that having this gun of which I have rightly purchased will be illegal.

-7

u/Mythic01 Mar 26 '26

Cost benefit analysis to holding onto an item that can bring your life legal ruin, no matter how probable that may initially be

7

u/Late_Winner6859 Mar 26 '26

That’s a decision to be made on the last day of October. At least, it most likely is getting extended.

And good chance this BS will fall apart before that.

So the real choice is between giving up your property for free, or waiting for a better outcome

11

u/CalibreMag Mar 26 '26

Refusal to enroll in the voluntary compensation program will not bring anyone legal ruin.

-5

u/Mythic01 Mar 26 '26

That's not the point. Hanging onto an item that's been declared a prohibited firearm past the end of the amnesty, could bring legal ruin. Because, the future is uncertain. Gun owners could get insanely lucky and have a future Conservative government reverse the ban. Or, we may be in for another decade of Liberal governance which seems very likely at this point. Ultimately, anyone hanging onto these guns past Oct 31 are exposing themselves to legal jeopardy. Will they kick your door in? Maybe not. But, will you be caught with it at some point in the future? Do you ever have to move house? Maybe someone will rat you out to the police. Not a game I'd want to be involved in.

9

u/CalibreMag Mar 26 '26

The thread is about the ASFCP.

And since the future is indeed uncertain, there is no point even discussing what may or may not happen six months from now.

The best thing to do is nothing, because unforced decisions based on fear of an uncertain outcome are unlikely to have good outcomes.

2

u/pahtee_poopa Mar 26 '26

Well, would love to know what “destruction” of the weapon actually means. Is it clearly defined as you having to cut it in half so you have no way of putting it back together? What does “disable” mean in their eyes?

3

u/Perfect_Diamond_1128 Mar 26 '26

we all have jobs, not just you

1

u/Bohdyboy Mar 27 '26

No one is saying break the law. Destroy your firearm yourself, and dispose of the pieces.

That's perfectly legal.

And you can do it on October 30th.

16

u/goshathegreat Mar 26 '26

Everyone share this with as many firearm owners as possible, we need to fight back against this bullshit confiscation program. We need to lower the numbers at the end of March, this program is a failure and we need to see it die.

12

u/Patsboy101 Mar 26 '26

You’d think that your PM with his background in banking would recognize that this buyback is an astronomical waste of taxpayer dollars. But I guess damn the budget when you can totally screw over Canadian gun owners.

8

u/TheObviousNovice Mar 26 '26

I highly doubt that this PM, like most Liberal PM's are worried about wasting tax payer dollars. The man appears to think he is so above such trivial issues that it genuinely feels we are just a piggy bank for insiders for both the party and their appointees and his little boys club to get far richer from their numerous investments. I would not be the least bit surprised if his net worth shot up a few million dollars in the last year since he took the throne.

Honestly just to keep himself in power and the cabinet together, he will go along with this stupid plan unless it really derails. Jesus even the CBC is exposing fraud and incompetence in different levels of the Federal Gov. Unfortunately we have such a lack of accountability that these people who cause and add to the ever expanding list of problems this Country won't face any consequences and get parachuted up into even more important roles. Its a fucking clown show in that caucus every damn day and yet we (as a country) still elect the same brain dead morons into office.

The only difference is this Gov. has learned to be far more sinister and doesn't give two shits what it does anymore so long as they stay in power.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

This still baffles me. Carney has cancelled programs that have a lot more popular support than the confiscation. Like, are the numbers really that bad that Carney doesn't think he'd make up any lost Quebec seats in other provinces? If that is the case than the Liberals must believe that they've permenantly lost a large subset of voters over this singular issue.

4

u/Hopeful_Relation_441 Mar 27 '26

watching Michael ma defend China today in committee it seems obvious, Censorship and disarmament is the goal. most media outlets are softening the tone on China, while getting more extreme on the US

2

u/boozefiend3000 Mar 26 '26

He’s a liberals. Liberals are not smart people

2

u/mangobludden Mar 27 '26

das what im saying

1

u/mangobludden Mar 27 '26

"muh heckin pragmatic prime minister"

11

u/SpinachStunning5547 Mar 26 '26

Would have been so funny if everybody with restricted signed up and then withdraw. Would have made them look like total buffoons.

-3

u/Hopeful_Relation_441 Mar 27 '26

they would have your address, army about to get training on how to breach doors of registered owners

3

u/7repid Mar 27 '26

This is just about compensation, not about destruction.

Withdrawal would be a giant middle finger to the government, doesn't mean the owners won't get them destroyed later regardless.

7

u/R4ID on Mar 26 '26

Please let the number fall a significant amount by the end of the program

33

u/DonAzuld Mar 26 '26

But now they know.

67

u/boozefiend3000 Mar 26 '26

So you’re in the same boat as the registered folks. Who cares? If people start dropping out it’s even more of a black stain on the program. We want this scrapped

13

u/DonAzuld Mar 26 '26

You’re right, lower numbers will look worse for them. But the NR list isn’t going in the trash either.

15

u/boozefiend3000 Mar 26 '26

Nope, but declaring a non restricted was not very bright to begin with

5

u/DonAzuld Mar 26 '26

Indeed, anyone who declared an NR has bent over the whole firearms community in my mind.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

Actually their in a worse situating than anyone with formally registered firearms who didn't declare because the guns haven't been registered for 6 years and the government has no positive way of tracking them now.

-10

u/AccomplishedOrder591 Mar 26 '26

Whilst I do agree you. These people, will own the first doors kicked in.

15

u/boozefiend3000 Mar 26 '26

No doors are being kicked in. If no ones complying the government will cave. Or, even better, the Supreme Court will reverse this shit

8

u/Perfect_Diamond_1128 Mar 26 '26

correct, logistically impossible to kick down doors of millions of law abiding canadians

u/boozefiend3000 Mar 26 '26

Still don’t think the denying PAL thing can work. Because it’s the exact same problem as the buyback. If they revoke your license they actually have to come to your house to grab your guns. If they don’t have the manpower to go door to door for the buyback how do they have the manpower to go door to door for PAL revocations?

3

u/AdditionalLoss7274 Mar 26 '26

See, that's the clincher though. The whole "law abiding" thing has already fallen apart at that point...

1

u/AccomplishedOrder591 Mar 26 '26

What are you talking about, anyone retarded enough to participate in in the confiscation, and by their own admission are in possession of now prohibs. They have an address, a name, and a charge and a "clear and present danger"(pfft.). Everything they need for a no knock warrant. There aren't the willing resources to participate in that at scale but, there are ~51000 (whatever that equates to in PAL holders, I'm sure a number of people had more than one)to make examples of knowing that they won't have to make an example of all of them. Police are just regular people, wanna go home at the end of the day. Probably, really not interested in getting shot in trying to confiscate a firearm from an otherwise law abiding citizen. But there are whole SRT/ERT teams whose dicks get hard at the prospect of getting to do that shit.

2012 was the last time restrictions were loosened in any way and, it was to save 2 billion on a program that wasn't producing meaningful results to justify the use of that many tax dollars. You didn't all of a sudden have a shit ton more selection or rights, you just didn't have to register non-restricted firearms. Because they don't make things less restrictive unless it's good for them.

I don't particularly like PP, but nothing would make me happier then to have him be PM and repeal all this. He would have my vote for a long time. Like, I'm in your corner on this, but I think you'd be daft to think this just all goes away. I'm saying best case we get grandfathered and restricted rules apply if you want to use it. I am however hopeful. Edit because I would like an AR-15.

15

u/CupcakeAway1318 Mar 26 '26

Since you’re not getting paid anyway, you could withdraw from the program and just deactivate the gun(s) yourself. At least you get some cool paperweights, and you don’t contribute to the success of their scam.

10

u/CADJunglist Mar 26 '26

Which read almost definitely one of the main goals; build a database of all them scary scary guns

5

u/StuPuff86 Mar 26 '26

I got an email thst a firearm that I have registered is now prohibited and needs to be turned. but the only restricted I had is my glock. otherwise, the rest are long guns and were not subject to registration. how do I find out what firearm they are talking about? I emailed a reply and the response was "for privacy reasons, they can't give it out"

6

u/zulu_tango73 Mar 26 '26 edited Mar 26 '26

Are you sure that's what the letter said? Or did it just say you MAY be in possession of a firearm that is prohibited, the same emails that every licence holder received?

I BELIEVE (someone correct me if I'm wrong, I've never tried) that you can log into the Canadian Firearms Program web portal (not the compensation registration site, although that lists them, too) and see what they have registered to you.

EDIT: Above is incorrect. There is no way to view current registration, neither through Individual Web Services nor MyCFP

2

u/StuPuff86 Mar 26 '26

also, i'm having a hard time navigating the rcmp site, while looking for the list of my firearms

2

u/zulu_tango73 Mar 26 '26

I checked. Yoh can't view current registrations through MyCFP or Individual Web Services.

If you go to the ASWCP site, it should list impacted Rs, but requires creating an account there... and... ewwww.

So, I think your only other option is to call.

1

u/StuPuff86 Mar 26 '26

ill do that after I Repat, long distance calling is murder here

2

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '26

[deleted]

1

u/StuPuff86 Mar 26 '26

I didnt put it in for compensation

5

u/westleysnipes604 Mar 27 '26

Anyone who applied should withdraw. This is your chance to redeem yourself.

Grow a pair.

3

u/Interior_Minister Mar 26 '26

public safety seems to have run out of money already as some who called for values are not getting callbacks

3

u/CanadianGunNoob Mar 26 '26

justdoit.gif

3

u/itsmeAG32 Mar 26 '26

That would be hilarious

3

u/AllDay1980 Mar 26 '26

It would be pretty sweet to see a bunch of withdrawals.

1

u/HappyCan7250 Mar 27 '26

Guarantee Gary would still claim the original numbers though. This program is so fucking opaque and obfuscated that we honestly have no clue what is making up the numbers they are claiming or how they have actually arrived at it. I wouldn't be surprised it a bunch of the numbers were counted from guys with Rs just logging in to see what would come up for them, and then the government counting it as declaring or something.

There's definitely some shady shit going on with their accounting on this program, they're fudging the numbers in anyway that they can.

I'm just still dumbfounded they haven't taken the easy cop out of grandfathering, like every other Liberal government has done every other time this has been attempted. I still think that'll be the ultimate end to this.

3

u/Barbarian_818 Mar 26 '26

And look at paragraph (5). To me that sure looks like they intend to punish provinces that didn't roll over by making sure that any available compensation money goes to Quebec participants first.

2

u/acidboogie nb Mar 27 '26

you'd think if this whole thing was actually about public safety, not for political optics and scoring of good boy points they'd try everything in their power to ensure as much participation as possible by sweetening the deal at every opportunity, not bittering it at every opportunity...

2

u/Barbarian_818 Mar 27 '26

Nathalie holds a serious grudge towards law abiding gun owners. She desperately wants to punish ALL of them for the terror she felt 30 years ago.

She said as much in that recent press conference screed where she pushed Gary aside to rant how it was a legally owned Ruger Mini 14 that was pointed at her during the Poly Tech shooting.

She also said, and I am not joking, that criminals with guns are not the problem.

I think her (highly emotional based) thinking is like this: criminals with guns are not a threat because a) there is a lot fewer of them and b) they tend to shoot other criminals. At the same time, she thinks that every legal gun owner is one step away from becoming a mass shooter. With indigenous hunters it's a long step because they live in deep rural areas. But with tactical fans it's an extremely short step because tactical shooting looks like murder practice.

2

u/OrientalSells95 Mar 26 '26 edited Mar 27 '26

Come on folks, make these delusional, frothing, neo-communists cry and make the current “collected” numbers lower than Nova Scotia. A lot of you that participated claimed you had NRs too

2

u/eekay233 Mar 27 '26

Hopefully the CCFR can get the word out on this with broad reach, and hopefully the LPC doesn't backpedal and cry "hey no takesies backsies".

If you know someone that has declared, make sure they get this information. Only you can prevent forest fires.

1

u/JurboVolvo Mar 26 '26

Don’t even tell them what you have in the first place because if you do, they’re gonna have that information there’s a reason they’re linking bank accounts, phone numbers, emails

1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

No refunds.

Your voluntary submittal of information can and will be used against you, whether you consent or not. This is why you talk to lawyers instead of cops.

From my understanding, you can back down anytime before your firearms are actually collected.

1

u/bigsxvhuj533 Mar 28 '26

So what do you think will happen if you withdraw. The government has your info. They know you have a restricted (now prohibited) firearm. Will you be subject to felony charges since there is no difference between your .22 and fully automatic machine gun.

0

u/Jimstevens33 Mar 27 '26

What's the thoughts on the restricted firearms that the feds already know we have? Holding out on this program is just a sure way to have someone digging around in your life if push comes to shove no?

My thought is if you declare the ones they know about no need to rock the boat on the others.

1

u/HappyCan7250 Mar 27 '26

Nope. Hold out for October at the latest. You won't be getting paid either way. Don't pump the numbers at the end and help them dance around in the HOC screaming "look, 10,000 people signed up in the last week! They WANT this! We took 60,000 guns off the streets!"

Not getting paid anyway. Wait until after the 31st if you're super worried then contact the CFO and confirm you can self destroy and follow said steps and report it as destroyed. Do not help pump their numbers in these crucial final days.

1

u/Jimstevens33 Mar 27 '26

This is the plan at the end of the day.

0

u/Ok_Juggernaut1074 Mar 27 '26 edited Mar 27 '26

But also know that you have already snitched upon yourself by telling them what you own.

1

u/Ok_Juggernaut1074 Mar 27 '26

And self snitching is what got some of the guns on the ban list. People posting stuff on social media which they are not supposed to and highlight it to RCMP.

1

u/boozefiend3000 Mar 27 '26

Still better to have their declaration numbers going down instead of up. No one listen to ok_juggernaut1074

1

u/Ok_Juggernaut1074 Mar 27 '26

I totally support that and would love that but why would you declare in first place when you knew the outcome.

2

u/boozefiend3000 Mar 27 '26

People are dumb lol. Been reading about people declaring outta fear because of the emails and doing no research themselves, then having regrets later

1

u/Ok_Juggernaut1074 Mar 27 '26

Totally agree. I was warned by a friend in the industry as soon as this was launched to not even open up any links to that program or even look up for compensation amounts for any firearm because of the technology nowadays every online activity is being tracked and monitored through those cookies and trackers.
