Feets / Collection / My build Celik Arms Chimera

Just wanted to share my build! This is my first rifle, haven't even had the chance to shoot it since I put the scope and bipod on it but I am really happy with the look.

I really wish there was more opportunity for customization, like on the hand guard. I have seen an aftermarket option from Tommy Enterprises but I have not heard good things about it.

Last .22 I bought for $500 was a Turkish lemon so I’m wondering if anyone knows how these little plinkers are? Never heard of the company and the price seems awfully low (Sub $400)

Gun and gear reviews Safe Storage Question

Hello, if a handgun is stored in this, does the handgun require a trigger lock? Also, is it mandatory for this safe to be anchored? Thanks. https://www.amazon.ca/AmazonBasics-Portable-Security-Case-Combination/dp/B077K1YH8Z/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1

Misc Looking for card board boxes in Edmonton

Anyone in Edmonton have any long, narrow cardboard boxes they’d be willing to give away or sell?

I’m moving out of the city and planning to ship a few long guns to myself. I checked Home Depot, Walmart, and Canadian Tire, but none of the boxes I found were long enough.

Looking for something roughly rifle/ shotgun length. Used boxes are totally fine as long as they’re still sturdy. Thanks!

Shooting First day at the range

Post image
183 Upvotes

Hi all, it was my first day at the range and first time ever firing a firearm. I didnt expect it to be like this honestly.

So i sign up for the membership, old man there is the president of the club, he does the boresighting for me chuckles a little as he hands me back the firearm and wishes me luck.

I load three bullets in my mag and set my stuff up ready to go. Seen a few videos on how to fire a firearm before. I lock in and pull the trigger.

It was a NUKE.

I had never imagined the kick to be soooo harsh and trust me when i say it, it SHOOK ME TO THE BONE.

I was absolutely terrified and i could fathom at that moment that those who shoot on youtube (my fav is hicko45) are actually on a league wayyyyy beyond what i had placed them on.

Fired 10 rounds and packed up, cleaned my stuff and am starting towards home.

Ive trily never felt such mixed emotions before. On hand i was terrified and on the other hand, FUCK YEAHHHHHHHH.

Setup is- Tikka t3x chambered in win308, ammo used is federal 150grain soft point, scope is vortex crossfire 3-9x40mm. Recoil pad is limbsaver airtech for tikka.

Sorry for the long post. Tips are highly appreciated.

TLDR: got rekt on first time ever shooting a firearm.

New gun wall set-up. Hold-up displays makes some nice Canadian-compliant hangers that finally allow me to display my SPR & handguns.

Is anyone interested in this shotgun? It sold out instantly when it was released in USA. Could we import it to Canada?

Shooting Got out and shot…finally!

Had a lot of load development I hadn’t been able to actually get out and test. Today was the day!

In addition to 22lr fun, I ended up shooting exactly 100 rounds of centerfire. 30 rounds of 450 Ackley (like a 458 Lott but bigger by a tad), 32 rounds of 300 rum, 11 rounds of 350 rem mag, and 27 rounds of 257 STW.

The browning x bolt max long range in 300 rum 1:8 twist with the vortex 5-25x56 strike eagle is just so awesome. With 212 bore riders I had no trouble making a first round hit at 500 yards (the goose shaped steel, note the close up of the copper splash on it) after verifying where it was hitting at 300.

The 450 humbled me, it’s not bad from standing (though very stout), but this was my first time shooting it the elephant gun from a bench…500 grain bullets with a full case of 748 powder rattle your teeth and pulverize your shoulder off the bench. Twas fun because I’m a masochist and a recoil junkie, but I have a bruise starting and weird ball/lump under the skin on that shoulder now.

Note the expanded bullet I dug out of the dirt bank…that’s a mushroom, it almost looks like a tooth with roots haha. 280 grains retained after slamming into sand, lost 220. Ought to be fine for moose 🤣

The 257 stw was disappointing today…I discovered both my ultra light and ultra heavy loads were keyholing. They should be stable, I guess maybe the RPMs at north of 4400 fps get a bit squirrelly for the 75 grain hammer and the hornady eldm 134 grain isn’t meant to handle this kind of velocity either. It is an 8 twist.

I’ll try some more basic 100 grain bullets next.

Buy recommendations Gotenda Calgary

Hi all, I know GoTenda Calgary is having their soft opening this weekend, but unfortunately I have to work and can’t make it. Does anyone know when they will officially be open? I’m planning to drive down from Edmonton to check them out.
They have a Tikka T3x ACE Target that I want on their website, but I’d rather not have it shipped. I’d prefer to pick it up in person.
If anyone has their Calgary contact number or knows their regular opening date, that would be great. Thank you!

Posted it a couple month ago, just now came back from shooting it for the first time, had like 8 ejections problems, one lite strike and even a stock case. had to punch the hell out the handle to open the action. Might have a head space issue. Used 150grn nosle accubound, haven’t got the precision i wanted but scope will be changed and the barrel will be polish

Was doing research for my site and just stumbled upon this by chance on Google Maps. Apparently they do PAL/RPAL courses as well.

Anyone been there who can provide more feedback about what they're like?

Gotta love walking into your local Shopper's and walking out with a box that says 'rifle case' and inside that box is a Tikka T3x Ace Target in 6.5 Creedmoor. Can't wait to try this beauty out tonight at the range.

Misc Firearm familiarity

Hey all,

Has anyone here had any experience with private firearm training?

I got my PAL last year and while I aced the written portion, I didn't do so well on the practical. A lot of the types of firearms I had never seen in person before, let alone handle. To be fair, I did sort of rush them and could have taken more time to learn about them.

I was thinking of buying a Ruger 10/22 in order to start my journey and to learn more about how to operate it safely. That being said, I live somewhere where it is illegal to plink on crown land so I would need to go to a range. It would be ideal to just take it out in the woods and learn on my own but alas. I obviously know the minimums of firearm safety but I wouldn't want to put anyone at risk if something went wrong at the range. I also don't wanna look like an idiot lol.

So with all that being said, has anyone here ever hired someone for training? Were they a range officer or just a buddy who knows that specific firearm?

What would you do in my situation?

Thanks

Curious to know how the TR-410 has performed for those of you that own it? I've heard some say that too much gas gets blown into their face after each shot, others say its not too bad. I might cop one but not too sure.

Announcement TOWNHALL Discussion: Proposed Changes to Combat Reddit Admins Banning People Under Sitewide Rule 7

Hey guys:

Over the last few weeks, we've seen a large amount of people banned by Reddit Admins, always citing this same sitewide rule; Rule 7... One of our well known vendors, u/SpectreBallistics, was recently banned, but thankfully their appeal was granted. Unfortunately, one of our mods, u/Cre_AK47 was permanently banned, with their appeal also being denied, so we need to have a Subreddit discussion on how we can mitigate Admin actions because countless people are having their accounts wiped clean because of their comments and posts that are not rule breaking content as per their Reddit's own TOS, are somehow finding themselves being flagged for being in violation of Rule 7...

These are not set in stone, we are open to feedback, but these are the most realistic options the mod team sees as a way to attempt to curve this ban wave. We are also open to any alternative suggestions.

Proposed solutions:

  1. We ramp up Automod aggressively to either warn, or actively remove content that may be picked up by AI Reddit Admins.
  2. We try adding a mandatory experimental disclaimer to comments to posts and comments when people make mention of prices, posting links to gun stores, mentioning vendors. We have no idea if this would work, and frankly, it would be a PITA to code into Automod, but it might be worth trying stating explicitly that "This comment/post is NOT A TRANSACTION, SALE OR AN OFFER" in case it is in fact an AI that looks at these "reports".
  3. All links are banned, except media (YouTube, Reddit, News sites, etc.). Since Reddit admins will literally ban you for linking to a gun safe on a furniture catalogue website, any links are basically not safe if the word "gun" and "link" mix...
  4. We do nothing and people continue to get banned left, right and centre since Reddit admins love operating on ambiguity and outright lies on external links.

We really don't want to have to do any of this, but admins inaction are forcing us to do something because of their inaction and lack of clarity, never mind saying posting links to legal vendors is good to go, while at the same time, people are getting banned, permanently for doing just that... Also, please stay on topic. We know this is very upsetting, but something needs to change, and it seems it isn't going to be Admin enforcement actions that's going to be changing anytime soon.

I did have to refinish the SKS stock because I accidentally damaged the factory phenolic resin varnish while trying to steam out a dent...😭

Will be reloading 7.5x55 in the future cuz it's basically a 308 Win dressed in Sennechutteli with a little bit of more powder.

Sooo since we've all seen some mixed reviews and some concerning QC issues with the R Makasi's that have rolled in to Canada, I decided to reach out to Brigade MFG to see if they were aware of the issues and if the NR rifles would have any of these issues corrected.

Here's their response
