Gun and gear reviews Makasi Mk15 reviews
Sooo since we've all seen some mixed reviews and some concerning QC issues with the R Makasi's that have rolled in to Canada, I decided to reach out to Brigade MFG to see if they were aware of the issues and if the NR rifles would have any of these issues corrected.
Here's their response

“I’m looking to get guns that work thanks” is what the Canadian gun community has come to

At this point, I would take anything said by the manufacturer with the grain of salt. These issues have been known for a while now, right?
I wonder when they started the production of the Canadian rifles. Personally, it seems unlikely that the early batches will have the changes incorporated.

I agree, but I was curious to see if they were aware of the issues aswell if they have shit. I'm gonna remain optimistic and guess I'll find out when I get em

At a minimum, Brigade will need to redesign and remanufacture the handguards as well as do test firing at the factory. But will they take the time and cost to replace all the faulty components for the Canadian market before shipping the rifles? This review was only posted 2 weeks ago and having to fix the issues on already produced rifles would mean significant delays.
The funny thing is that their earlier serial number rifles in Canada seem to operate fine, but the later-produced rifles like mine do not. There is no reason Canadians must accept garbage rods as the standard for cope rifles.

Canadian gun owners 🤝 falling for overpriced cope junk

I can't agree with this at all We're limited to what we can get because the dumb half of Canada continues to vote for a Liberal government that wants nothing more than make it so you can't own anything. We have new gun owners who never had the opportunity to even own an AR, and now this is their introduction to their new sport/hobby. Our inflated prices for rifles are driven by the weak Canadian dollars, the cost of importers to deal with the process and risks of bringing them into Canada and the fact that the importer and your LGS has to make a little money on top. With our sport being under constant attack by the Liberals and Poly, I'm okay with paying a little extra to help keep our LGS's open. They only seem to be getting closed down, nothing new is being opened, and once they're gone they're gone for good.

A big part of the problem is the Cons keep fielding losers like PP.

yeah, it's definitely not the extreme liberal bias in the media due to the liberal government funding them, and the dumb half of the country still thinking said media isn't largely biased/propaganda

You're basically renting this gun for just shy of $3k until it inevitably gets banned (along with the IWI Carmel). I would be amazed if it's still legally shootable by the new year
Ban aside no one would buy this for $3k given literally any other mainstream semi .223 option

u/cdn_sentry117 Aug 13 '26
Well I guess I'll rent a few. I'm not gonna live in fear of what may or may not get banned. And besides that, it's better to have a gun in my safe, than to have no gun at all.

You do you it's always good to support LGS. I think we're way past the point of "may or may not" though, unless you are failing to recognize a very clear pattern

u/Defiant_Impact_1957 Aug 17 '26
you're failing to miss the point that you may miss the boat for when you can get the guns you'll need if the time arises that you desperately need one the way this country is going. Wouldn't be surprised if they're throwing dissidents into re-education camps soon.

I’m gonna look cool doing tho (I’m kicking myself in the nuts not for not getting my PAL before this bullshit)

overpriced is a matter of perspective.
if you cant burn the dosh, dont cry about it being a risk.
any gun can turn out a lemon, the vast majority of reviews are positive.

Most of these complaints date back further than just new Canadian owners, wonder why it took them so long to finally "fix" their QC issues?

Just joined the carmel gang to avoid all of this... why not buy the better rifle for 100 dollars more.... unless you cant stand the look of the carmel... it is simply better
9
u/SocksOfDeath Aug 13 '26
Looks aside, no aftermarket support at all. Makasi at least I can do some adult legos with and make it my own.

u/lundske Aug 13 '26
I mean sure you are right aout mods... but as someone who just wanted a light, laser, optic, and hand stop, this checks all the boxes... comes with a good trigger, thats money savings, comes with a good stock, savings again... id be spending wayyy more on a makasi to make it likeable and then it still wouldnt be the quality it deserves to be for the price. But i almost went with makasi for the AR compatibility/ style too so i get it, ive switched perspective after the looks of the carmel grew on me. To each their own, glad we just have the choice again, this will be my first 5.56 semi since i was sleeping on the crypto and the raven and the bren 2.

Carmel is just going to be more reliably and better out the box. Someone would have to spend at least $1K to make the Makasi “better”. If people have the money to that, all power to them. But for me, I could only afford one so the Carmel is a no brainer

We will have to see what would happen. Working with vendors as my daily tasks, I find it hard to believe vendor’s “claimed improvements” unless it starts to badly hit their sales
Most likely the first shipment would be used to deplete their old inventory of receivers, parts. The only thing which needs to be newly manufactured will be the barrel.
I hope they would properly strengthen their QC and maybe release mod 2 version with improvements. I cancelled my Makasi preorder to switch to Carmel but will definitely buy another if they fix all issues

Maybe this is justy optimism, but Canada is going to be their largest marker for this rifle. So hopefully they do take it seriously, and do make corrections as needed. Why would Americans buy these niche rifles when they can buy soon much more 🤷

u/Even-Somewhere-9554 Aug 13 '26
For sure Canada might save this company. However they need to step up their game.

Only until the next round of bans. :(

u/JaxIsLoud Aug 15 '26
This attitude is killing the pass time as much as the bans are.

Exactly , with that attitude you may as well give away all your firearms 😄

I see a company statement like that, right after watching TFB's tour of Sig Sauer's QC department... I had to laugh.

Why are you buying several of the same rifle?

u/Even-Somewhere-9554 Aug 13 '26
One for each build

You only have one SKS?????

u/GFN_good_for_nothing Aug 13 '26
Yeah unfortunately, I’m pretty poor lol it took me a while to save up for the one I have. I’m very grateful to have it now though!

u/boognight220 Aug 13 '26
The overwhelming majority of Canadians are living paycheck to paycheck. I'm very grateful to be able to afford any gun at all.
3
u/GFN_good_for_nothing Aug 14 '26
Yeah, same here. Gratitude is the key to happiness same way that comparison is the thief of joy. Got so bad for me after a bad breakup that a couple years I had to do a consumer proposal, it really fuckin sucked there for a while but I just kept working hard and putting one foot in front of the other. Slowly but surely it’s getting better and I’m super proud to be getting back to doing some fun stuff at this point, every time I can make room in the budget for something fun I feel like less of a fuck up
1
u/Cock_ball_dickin Aug 13 '26
No that’s totally valid I’m just taking the piss lol
But I will recommend adopting and restoring a bubbad monstrosity. Fun side project

I have like 4 10/22s - short, tactical, long, target 😂 it gets addictive since the 10/22 is like Lego.
2
u/Even-Somewhere-9554 Aug 14 '26
In fact, a new factory 10/22 could be found cheaper than some sets of Lego

No point in contacting the manufacturer, of course they're going to say their shit smells like roses.
