Gun and gear reviews TM22 Killer incoming
This thing must have had 4000 rounds through it today. Going to sell like hot cakes.

u/SexySubordinate 15d ago
I’ll bite:
Give us the name, specs and price.

u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago edited 15d ago
Canuck C22, designed by O'Dell
Price wasn't confirmed. Ballpark $600
Proprietary mags, 25rds. Will also accept 10/22 mags32
u/SexySubordinate 15d ago
What’s it got that’s going to make me drop my TM-22 and spend some more dough?
Only thing I can think of really is possibly a bolt release.
3
u/RickyReefer 15d ago
I mean hard to tell based on just pics, would need to handle it and test the action, but based just off visual inspection it definitely looks sturdier and better materials/build quality. Looks to be quite a bit heavier, but I’d guess significantly more durable. Again, tough to say. I guess it also depends on whether you prioritize light weight or sturdier/more durable rifle. My personal opinion just looking at pics of the two I’d definitely opt for the C22.
7
u/SexySubordinate 15d ago edited 15d ago
The TM22 pro’s are pretty sturdy, all metal and I’ve yet to have any durability issues.
This is the same idea being cranked out by the same manufacturers. At best it’s simply an alternative offering of the same thing with a bit more window dressing. Same idea, more fancy milling.

You had me at O’dell. Dealt with them only a couple times but it was a positive experience. I certainly don’t need another 22 but I’ll give this a shot if it’s designed by them.
15
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
The whole O'Dell crew and family are some of the nicest people I've met.
Hearing Phil talk today about the whole thing really showed me how much they care1
u/GFN_good_for_nothing 15d ago
Do you know when it’s coming to the Canadian market?
5
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
All I know is "before Christmas" if things go to plan
2
u/GFN_good_for_nothing 15d ago
Cool beans, interested to see how it stacks up accuracy and reliability-wise, and if they’ll do a 22WMR version. For some reason people were talking about 22 magnum on another post I saw about this, not sure if they have a reason to think that will be an option or if it’s just wishful thinking but it’s a nice thought for sure.
11
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
If they did this in 17HMR I'd jizz my pants

u/illknowitwhenireddit 15d ago
I'd jizz in your pants too!

Proprietary mags, 25rds. Will also accept 10/22 mags
What about the mags make it so they don't fit the 10/22? Or are these just a different notch similar the HC3R Tuf22 mags?
3
23
u/Even-Somewhere-9554 15d ago
Let’s go.
I just purchased tm22 pro. This gun looks neat. Takedown pin is a selling point to me. Sick of unscrewing/ screwing 3 screws holding TM’s receivers
7
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
This can be cleaned from the rear too it looks like, small hole in the back that a cleaning rod can go into
18
u/chillyrabbit 15d ago
I'm always interested in 22 rifles. If it disassembles easily and has a last round bolt hold open :chef kiss:
24
7
u/sdsaf94 15d ago
With the mag or true bolt hold?
6
u/chillyrabbit 15d ago
Looking at pictures posted by gun owners of canada on their facebook page there is a tab that sticks out on the magazine when the follower is at the top.
That indicates it is probably is true bolt hold as I guess that external tab activates the BHO on the firearm.
1
u/Bull-RunTheJewels 15d ago
Those magazines with the sides cut out look like you might be able to load these magazines quickly by pulling the magazine spring down and pouring the ammo into it or something like that.
1
u/swift_gilford 15d ago
based on those pictures, I'm wondering what about these mags is so proprietary that they couldn't fit into a regular 10/22?
1
u/chillyrabbit 15d ago
My first guess would be they made the magazine head wider to accommodate the BHO trip.
But there aren't any good angles of the magazines to see the front if they have a tuf22 style nub or other things.
15
u/Comprehensive-Mix342 15d ago
Why can’t we have pcc’s 🥲 love the look of this but also itching for something bigger
6
9
u/Sticky_3pk 15d ago
A lot of Canuck stuff is still made by Derya, they're in no worry of losing their slice of the market on this.
10
u/Iokua_CDN 15d ago
I believe Canuck and Derya had a bit of a divorce, based on O'Dell no longer handling the Derya lever action 22s and such and posting about it a few months ago
10
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
Derya went to North Sylva because they're able to do 10x the volume of O'Dell.
Money Talks.3
1
6
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
Not so sure about that.
Derya is North Sylva, was O'Dell until ~ShotShow earlier this year.Canuck is exclusively O'Dell as far as I understand it. They have their own thing going on
2
u/Acceptable_Visit_115 15d ago
I guess that means O'Dell found a new Turkish OEM for their Canuck brand?
0
u/Sticky_3pk 15d ago
I have a Derya made Canuck 🤷♂️
5
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
Which was pre-them switching from O'Dell to North Sylva.
O'Dell owns the Canuck brand2

u/Batsinvic888 Bats888 on YouTube 15d ago
Is it a Canuck customized version of the Kral KR22?
If so, I hope they learned from the KR22 mistakes.
13
u/Status_Ticket5044 15d ago
Nah. Safe's full. Quota of Turkish semi 22LR is fulfilled.
Show me a 9mm semi that takes Glock mags for $750 and lasts at least 2000 rounds til it's banned or falls apart, whichever comes first.
4
2
u/Available_Boat_99 15d ago
Thoughts on the Henry homesteader then?
2
u/Status_Ticket5044 15d ago
That's a buy once cry once proposition but still (more) expensive ban-bait in these uncertain times.
Looking for cheapass Turkish that I can use while there is an apparent moratorium on new bans and write off as rent for 6 months. If it doesn't get banned and/or continues to operate properly, I guess I win the game.
6
u/Whispersfine 15d ago
About fucking time, does it take 10/22 mags?
7
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
Designed to take their own proprietary mags, was told it'll accept 10/22 mags
2
u/Whispersfine 15d ago
That’s a buy for me. Metal receivers?
3
1
u/cowontag11 15d ago
They had a Ruger rotary mag on the table as well as their own branded 10, 25 round mag.
1
5
u/thingk89 15d ago
I must say grudgingly…. That will kill the TM22. Being able to pull apart or hinge open the upper, perfect return to zero after cleaning, no wacky grip angle, proper floating barrel (as it appears… I might move on from my TM22 if the price is right
4
u/Current-Speed4096 15d ago
gorgeous too, aluminum furniture?
Are you in some sort of testing program? cause I cant find any info online
9
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
You'll see it start making the rounds after today. There were people getting video of it for a few of the channels that do that stuff in Canada
7
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago edited 15d ago
It was all aluminum yeah
O'Dell who's making these had a dealer day today, lots of stores invited down to check out the new stuff coming in5
1
u/Current-Speed4096 15d ago
I forgot to ask: what colours do they have? I really like cement gray, or maybe they call it “aircraft gray”?
4
5
u/Relevant_Diver_3228 15d ago
Wait how did you get it before the release date?
9
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
O'Dell dealer day today, was invited down along with probably 70 other stores to see what they're doing and bringing in
3
u/Relevant_Diver_3228 15d ago
Oh ok. What store are you?
13
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
I'm not a store, I'm uh.. something else.
6
u/Relevant_Diver_3228 15d ago
Are you Odell?
8
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
haha, no. Definitely not any part of O'Dell (wouldn't that be an incredible shill post if I was?)
7
1
u/Relevant_Diver_3228 15d ago
What are you then or can you not say? I'm going to take a wild guess here but I think you might have somthing to do with the range that they used am I correct?
1
u/PaveHammer 15d ago
Something... worse.
1
u/TescoValueSoup 14d ago
I'm a guy doing a few things, one I dont want linked to my personal reddit, the other isnt ready to talk about yet
4
u/Apprehensive_Lock868 15d ago
Sign me up for a 12 inch when they are released. I think this looks great. 2026 has been a rough year on my wallet for sure.
3
3
u/Iokua_CDN 15d ago
Alright, this looks good and I like Canuck
But real question, are they going to be making a short 12 inch barrel? Because I'm actively pricing out a shortie tm22 pro, but if this has a short barrel, I'd be tempted because I hate how the tm22 mags look
7
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
12" is on the table from what I heard
12" 14" 16" maybe 18"3
u/Acceptable_Visit_115 15d ago
Would be awesome if they make a fixed stock version so that the barrel is 8" or 6" or something dumb like 4.5" lol
Fixed stock means no OAL restrictions for rimfires (and manual action centrefires). The ST22M prototype with a 4.5" barrel has a 20.5" OAL for example, and is still NR. Unfortunately SBI won't be bringing it to the market.
1
3
u/Collins705 15d ago
Proprietary magazines but 10/22 acceptable? Are they cryptoing the 10/22 mag?
3
u/Acceptable_Visit_115 15d ago
No, it looks like they are TUF22ing it:
A magwell with a proprietary notch to fit their own mag (that won't fit in a 10/22), but is otherwise a 10/22 footprint sans-the notch.
2
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
I didn't get to really poke about on it, we were only using their own magazines today, but he said 10/22 mags will be backwards compatible with it, I'm not sure if that will involve an adapter or what
2
u/UnraoSandhu 15d ago
The proprietary mags are similar to Ruger design but not compatible with rugers, however I was told that you can use 10/22 mags in this firearm.
3
u/HappyCan7250 15d ago
I also think it would be fucking sweet if they offered them in 22mag! Doubt it'll be the case but maybe if we all bug Odell enough they release a 22mag too
3
u/The_RL1 13d ago

I was at the O'Dell range day (as media) and shot it (more pics in my review). note that this one had the bolt handle swapped to the left side while the other one on the line had it on the right side. they will be shown at TACCOM and i believe available for sale in November. As i am sure others have mentioned (didnt read the whole thread) it uses proprietary mags and will take 10/22 mags but the proprietary mags wont work in a 10/22

2
u/Nero29gt 15d ago
Definitely have to keep an eye on this one. Looks cool. If it can compete and improve upon the already solid TM22 it will be a purchase from me for sure.
2
2
u/IceWide6245 15d ago
Looks like it might take ar triggers too which would be nice, I also spot a proper pistol grip angle. An ar charging handle would've been the cherry on top, hopefully they make some 12" barrels and proprietary drum magazines
2
u/Is_300_lexus_jdm 15d ago
this has the same pistol grip as the Adler Arms RF224. is it OEM by Adler Arms?
4
2
u/DougMacRay617 15d ago
Id argue the main thing going for the tm's is their modularity and similar look to an AR, does this even have either of those? If not then i can't see it replacing it
1
u/Acceptable_Visit_115 15d ago
Here's the real question: does it have a last round bolt hold open? Or is it still manual? Also, are the proprietary 25 rounders goofy like the TM-22, comically wide like the TUF-22, or do they actually look normal like the BX-25 and GSG-16?
At least it's a left side charging handle, thank god.
7
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
last round bolt hold open confirmed
3
u/Acceptable_Visit_115 15d ago
Hell yeah! Finally some real advancements in the ergo front. Low speed high drag here we go!!!
3
u/NEUMANN-METALWORKS Neumann Metalworks 15d ago
1
u/Acceptable_Visit_115 15d ago
That looks pretty decent, maybe a bit wide? But way less goofy than the TM22 at least from this angle.
1
u/Whispersfine 15d ago edited 15d ago
That goofy banana mag is the only reason why I haven’t bought a tm22. Seriously it’s like a ugly gal beyond unfuckable.
1
u/Remote_Mistake6291 15d ago
I will definitely be getting at least one of these and the Spas12 clone they are bringing in.
1
u/22GageEnthusiast 15d ago
Do you know if they're going to showcase these at Taccom?
2
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
They'll be at Taccom but not available to purchase is what I was told
2
u/22GageEnthusiast 15d ago
Awesome....was gonna get a TM22 but with these coming out I might just wait for them.
1
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
I'm debating it too, I'm seriously considering getting 4 of them to use at our club for range days and ladies days.
Not having people need to decypher the 10/22 bolt release is a big selling point for nervous/fat fingered first time shooters.1
u/Whispersfine 15d ago
Color options?
1
u/TescoValueSoup 15d ago
They said they were still feeling it out, but I would assume black, green and fde.
They said they'll see what sells, basically1

Are Canuck rifles Turkish as well?
One of the big draws of the TM22 is the top charging handle kit. Would of been nice for them to incorporate that in this new design.
1
u/HappyCan7250 15d ago
I love it. Its got better AR vibes than the TM22, although at least the TM22 can be bad with a 12" barrel now. I still might grab one though, they look sexy for a 22.
It does look like a slightly redesigned TM22 though. Looks like it might have AR handguard compatability?
1
1
u/PaveHammer 15d ago
Last photo appears to have it sitting next to an ST-22 - what are your thoughts/comparison between the two?
1
u/KnownCobbler9026 15d ago
Looks good, less the skeletonize but that’s preference. Hopefully takes notion of the 12” barrel trend. hate seeing these barrels over 16” on tactical .22s 😭 thought someone told them 18 is only a magic number when had centerfire
1
u/SuperSidney376 15d ago
Wait, so it has a true LRBHO where you can press a button to let the bolt fly like on an AR15? And is it possible to see pictures of the left side of the gun?
Am excited looks promising especially the metal construction as well as AR grip compatibility
1
u/Dill_Pickle_Tears 14d ago
Sold - that’s top of my list in terms of features. I really don’t love polymer
1
1
u/No-Night-48 13d ago
Is there a bolt lock? Is it a floating barrel? How is the accuracy? What ammo did you use and how was the accuracy? My TM22 doesn't compete with my restricted GSG-15
1
u/SenPaJosh 12d ago
Ya know what, I was about to buy TM22 flash until I saw this post, guess I’ll wait for a little while

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 15d ago
Looks like the HC3R design minus the godawful stripper clip spine. Good news!
1
u/Dependent_Account603 15d ago
Question is does it have the piece that makes it compatible with tuf22 while remaining incompatible with the charger pistol?
1
u/Acceptable_Visit_115 15d ago
Judging by the description, and the fact that it's a 25 rounder, yes.
1
1
u/Ruger308MDT 14d ago
I don't see it being a TM22 killers that's for sure. Another option sure but TM22 is pretty good and the accessories and mods are awesome. Looks nice but definitely not a killer
1
0
u/TheBulletBuddy 14d ago
Just wait till the guys making tm22 parts/accessories get going on these.
No more having to stick washers between the bolt and buffer to prevent over travel and charging handle sheering, no more stripping the receiver, no more re zeroing optics after every cleaning, no more removing extractors to get it to feed/extract properly, no more sanding/polishing the firing pin and its bore to get it to move freely. Theres a TON of stuff that hopefully, is not an issue with these new rifles.
And even if these ones (inevitably will) have issues, Odell seems to be the king of warranty interactions, so theres a pretty good amount of positives buzzing around here.
The only thing the tm22 has going for it over this one, right out of the gate, is an aftermarket top charging handle option. Otherwise, theres nothing special about the TM22 at all, and this is coming from a TM22 owner lol.
1
u/Ruger308MDT 13d ago
I don't have one of these issues at all. I have the charging handle which is awesome. But my TM22 shoots amazing non-issue after cleaning. Is extremely accurate. Sorry you having so many issues but mine is extremely flawless so. I just want the gsg back. Don't care to get anymore 22s at this moment
2
u/TheBulletBuddy 13d ago edited 13d ago
Im with you there in terms of my personal one not giving me issues. Im at 4k rounds through it and only had to do the usual washer replacement and extractor removal. But on the TM22 group on FB, as well as posts here, theres a pretty even split between people having no issues, and people having total duds.
If this one has better QC and the warranty company they use doesnt have to recommend removing parts (extractors) or installing washers to prevent over travel (happens to every tm22 since plastic buffer will get chewed up by the hollow/sharp faced buffer tube eating the rubber dampener and allow the over travel) then theyre already ahead of derya lol.
A factory LRBHO and not having to re zero after removing the top portion of the receiver is still the biggest thing going for it though. Hope the quality is actually there though, sucks having rifles that look cool but run like absolute trash.
1
u/Used_Abrocoma9404 14d ago
Its not a TM22 killer.
1
u/Capable-Variation192 12d ago
For the Canadian market with the features, if it's 600 or less it's definitely stealing a lot of market. Especially the new buyer market.

Is it possible to make a 556 , 300 b/o , 7.62 version that takes proprietary 5 rd magazines and costs 600
5
u/Current-Speed4096 15d ago
bro wut?😂
-4
u/hunterofsteelhead 15d ago
I just want cooler firearms. I have no enthusiasm for 22s anymore. Why cant there be more affordable semi auto rifles in more powerful calibers. Lets see a modernized sks or something
3
u/Current-Speed4096 15d ago
yeah.... unfortunately it's almost an instant ban if these designs are chambered in 556. Let's wait to see what the court says this November.
1
u/hunterofsteelhead 15d ago
By the downvotes im getting it seems its not a popular wish.
2
u/Current-Speed4096 15d ago
just a scarcity thing, the market for semi auto centrefires and even 22 mag is too small due to the ban and general market demand. Too many Canadians are simply scared of owning a firearm because the media brainwash did actually work. The heavy taxation and limited income isn't helping either as people would've more money to spend on hobbies like sports shooting
2
u/hunterofsteelhead 15d ago edited 15d ago
Its wild to me. Ive lived in a few countries and I find canadian firearms owners to be some of the most educated and responsible of anywhere ive seen and yet they are treated as some of the most irresponsible and uneducated. It only makes sense to me that the government wants more firepower superiority over its citizens because the public safety thing makes no sense to me at all.
2
u/Current-Speed4096 15d ago
that's what lots of Canadian politician feels internally. They definitely won't say it that way. Even though I don't think Canadian government would ever thought about using military on its people (at least not yet). But imagine a massive group of well regulated and educated gun owners is in your way (in terms of political stands)of expanding the government's power. would you be scared? Plus Canadian firearm laws are not written in constitution black and white like America, so the government is more encouraged to do whatever they want as long as the mass (brainwashed voters) are on their side, and they can slowly take everything away from you. Democracy, or you can call it “the tyrannical majority”.

It was in constant use all day today at the O'Dell event, no issues that I noticed.
One mag got jammed through user error, didn't hear any complaints2
u/UnraoSandhu 15d ago
Gun is great I think I was one of the first few there to fire it initially and I had no problems. Though they did run into mag related issues due to incorrect loading of the magazine from users apparently.
-5
u/undercoverinformant 15d ago
Canucks got a bad track record. This is reminiscent of Kral arms review by Canadian caliber and Gotenda.
4
u/Elbro_16 15d ago
My kral didn’t run the best, but I went over the extractor claw. Stretched the spring to give it a bit more pressure, and made sure the claw was engaging the rim of the case and holding it properly.
Now I can dump multiple mags without any stove pipes
