So, I will say it’s gotten “better” after putting about 350 rounds but my current issues are:
Not so much failure to eject but failure to chamber a round/cycle a round. - I’ve found loading 8/9 rounds per magazine instead of 10 makes a huge difference however I still get these squibs? No bullet stuck in the barrel but it just explodes in the chamber.
The Tommy enterprise Mag sleeves were a bit of an issue, they don’t quite seat properly without a love tap and yes they are the proper fitment and secured tightly. The current video attached actually broke the mag sleeve.
I’ll post a photo in a comment below showing what’s happening to the shells when it just jams them rather than propels chambering the round. No idea if it’s just the ammo (Aguila interceptor) or if it’s too high of spring tension on the magazine or if I have an actual issue with the action.
Not trying to be a dick but your trigger finger discipline isn't very good.. If you watch closely your finger goes into the trigger guard/on the trigger while the guns pointing in the sky.
Acquire your target, place your sights on it THEN move your finger into the trigger guard and fire.
Didn’t even think of it but I agree. Typically I try to be incredibly safe with firearms but apparently I let my judgment lapse being all hopped up on gun failure rage
Take the sleeve off and try it with different ammo. I've always had horrible luck with Aguila in my tm22s and the 2 mags I have with Tommy's sleeves on them are by far my least reliable magazines (no matter what I do to try and fix it).
If it still happens after that I'd try to warranty it
I genuinely thought I broke something cleaning it when I first started using Aguila 😭 bought some blazers one day and all my issues disappeared lol
I ran minimags the first 1000 rounds but started getting failure to ejects. Blazers still run reliably so I just stick with them now and almost no failures
I’ve found that cci blazer ammo works really well, I’ve put down about 1,000 rounds down and I’ve really only had cycling issues with other ammo other than cci blazer
You'll be fine, they're great shotguns and I haven't heard of it happening since. I can't recall 100% of what they said but it was a fluke for sure. Standard is really good for QC.
I heard there were some minor issues with feeding in the earlier produced models.. but they seemed to have worked it out. I've only run about 3 boxes of slugs through mine to sight in my red dot... and also because slugs are awesome... but no issues so far. Its an absolute beast. Hahaha
Crumpled the round like this about 4 times and had it go off in the chamber about 5 times. 9/250 malfunctions isn’t horrible but I don’t love the idea of it setting off a round that’s not chambered.
Any tips?
Ps. Very rarely has ejection issues so I don’t know if it’s an extractor problem
I’m open to suggestions. I tried CCI blazers and had a lot more extraction issues and feeding issues. Almost felt like it wasn’t powerful enough to cycle the action
The first maybe 100 rounds I put through mine were cci stingers. And while I usually stick to cci, blazer or even standard gives me no trouble. The only feeding issues or extraction issues I’ve ever had have been on Aguilia (one or two rounds out of a 50 round box) and that norma tac22 with the extra wax on the rounds or something. I couldn’t shoot a full mag without an issue on that crap
I was totally expecting to see the feed issues and jams that I typically see every second shot in mine but then I damn near spit out my coffee ahahha! Yours just gave up!
I've had a tm22 for a while, I only buy cci blazers, i've run subsonics out of it (only like 20-30 rounds) without issue. I get a malfunction of some sort maybe once every 300 rounds. I started with Winchester white box and that shit was god awful. I havent cleaned my rifle in over a thousand rounds now lmao.
I like MY tm-22 but seeing shit like this makes me feel like i got lucky af lmao. To be fair my buddies 10/22 malfunctions just about as much as mine.
I have put about 5000 rounds through mine now and have found the more I shoot it the less misfeed issues I’ve had. It was literally 10/100 at first unless I didn’t fully load mags. Left my mags loaded with whatever extra I could jam in for a couple weeks and they seem to be better.
Only misfeed issues I have seem to be with federal and Winchester bulk packs now, or if I shoot subs too fast. If I don’t mag dump them the cycle fine, except the quiet segmented which is to be expected at only 750fps. But they are super quiet, and my favourite In my bolt actions. Literally hear the firing pin strike and the bullet hit.
Yeah honestly all of what you said tracks with my experience with the rifle. I dont pay attention and most times over load my mags. 11 in a 10 rounder, 16 in a 15 rounder. If it fits, it gets it. I have had failure to feed a handful of times in my time owning it, a light strike here and there that sorts itself on the second go around.
All in all id say rifle is fine for what it is, and what it can do.
I've noticed my feed ramp will gouge a teeny bit into my bullets almost consistently but its only a 1-2" differentiation over 50m which to me is acceptable for a .22lr semi.
Im not out here trying to put a .22 in open air range twice in the same hole, I tend to look if its close enough to the kill shot id be chasing on small game if I would ever use it for hunting, which it is more than capable of within 50m
I tend to hunt with my bolt actions, bought my TM22 as a range gun mainly to fill childish need for a tactical plinker. Something cheap to shoot and more that 10 round so I’m not reloading mags as much. Even still I’ll probably let my boy use my bolt action this year and I’ll take the TM22 out for grouse and rabbits.
I’ve been taking the odd squirrel with it all spring mainly for fly tying too. But been saving the meat for some tree chicken buffalo wings in deer camp this fall.
It’s definitely good for what it’s for when you take its limitations into account. The only thing mine annoys me with is the top rail screws loosening up after 600-700 rounds. Drives me crazy when I don’t notice and can’t hit anything accurately with my scope bouncing around. But that’s my own fault not paying attention. Going to throw some locktite in them when I get to cleaning it tomorrow.
Any chance those rounds are suffering from rim lock ?
Many years back I converted some Turkish SAP 6 mags to function in my Valtro PM5 ( shotgun stuff ). Quite often they would feed flawlessly, but occasionally I'd get failures to feed where it looked like the round being pushed from the mag couldnt get enough nose lift before getting jammed on the bottom edge of the guns feed ramp. It happened so seldomly and usually in a high stress situation (3 gun) that I never stopped to take a good look at it.
Years later, I happened to notice that the very modest rims of the shotgun shells were occasionally rim locking because of sloppy loading of the magazine. The top shell would be pushed by the bolt, but because it was half ass rim locked it would also drag the shell beneath it forward for tiny distance while also preventing the top shell to cant up as it clears the mags feed lips.
I started taking extra care in loading the magazines so that every shell was pressed in ahead of the previous one and the result: flawless function!
I had problems with Aguila in my TM22 but it runs great with federal. I've not had any real issues since I removed my left extractor (with non-Aguila). Aguila fails to feed and gets bent halfway into the chamber. Cheap ammo I probably shouldn't have bought lol. It sucks in both my TM22 and my 10/22 with 597 mags.
It does happen without the mag sleeve when the mags are loaded 10/10 rounds. Once I went down to 8 or 9 rounds I didn’t have that issue however the OOBD blew off the rear part of the mag which I think might have been causing further issues with the cartridges not chambering correctly
Ok I think you got unlucky with the mags, its sounds like your mag feeding angle is not right and the rounds got deformed when its chambering, on extreme case your round would stuck to the chamber and your bolt came in and set off the primer. 22 oobd is not going to fuck the gunitself up at very least
Another possibility is the barrel sits too far into the receiver so the nose of the bullet hits top of the chamber, which would take some shims to fix.
I run both the 10 and 25rd mags in my TM 22, loaded to the top every time. To be completely honest I've shot about 1800 rounds through it and I've had one FTE, that was near the end of the day after burning 700 rounds of CCI standard which is all I have ever put through it. Other than that I did the toonie mod when it was new and it's treated me fine since.
This is why I I never bought one of these and went with a 10/22 instead. She's like a stripper. You just give her money and she just keeps stripping for you.
I have the same problem with mine if I try any Winchester ammo, constant out of battery problems. Mine runs great with the bulk Aquila, federal, or Remington.
Dat nose weld doe. I can’t be of any help because I don’t have a TM but thank you posting this all the same, I needed it. The looney tunes mag eject was unreal.
The TM 22 has an issue that nobody really talks about, it can fire out of battery meaning the bolt isn't fully forward but the hammer can still contact the firing pin with enough force to set off the round, they really are junk guns and that's part of the reason I haven't bought one.
Run CCI target load. Only ammo I don't have issues with. Aguila has been the worst then winchester and remington but then again every gun is different. My Tm22 feather likes cci but my TM22 pro prefers remington. Buy a few boxes of different ammo and see what happens. Also alot of people say 25 round mags are jam machines but Ive yet to have one in my feather
Nah my 2 10/22 wont extract a live round out of box and one initially cant feed a single round so we just need to accept that we live in the age of unreliability
