Obviously there’s no significant market for this specific type of ammunition here in Canada.

Been able to pickup some in the last couple of years at gun shows and auctions, merely for collecting purposes.

Milsurps / Prohib Waltzing with an SMLE from Litgow 🇦🇺: a stranger gave me a 1946 rebuilt 1917 Lithgow with a still brand new replacement barrel...

So, a total stranger literally gave me this rifle in 2018 in a gun shop parking lot. I gave it to someone I won't name, and I'm guessing he might be passed by now, considering his age. He completely butchered the thing, even though I just wanted him to check it over since I was new to shooting and rifles. Then, a fabulous person named Annie Dubuc had to completely rebuild the back end of the stock from scratch because someone tried to take off the butt stock before the fore stock, which cracked the fore stock because there's a screw plate there.

Also, the original person I sent it to completely drilled out the original nose cap, so I have a random rifle nose cap on there that isn't original to the rifle, unfortunately. But this is the first time I've actually tried to group it properly.

There is a mythical thing about free floating Lee Enfields, dear lord Bloke on Ranch has beaten that to death and I dont wanna say more. Barrel is too light of a profile and its very whippy. SMLE/No.1 has a wild bedding system to depend out barrel harmonics and whip.

I don't do blade and leaf style sights; normally, I'm handling a 1943 Long Branch No.4 for Lee Enfield.

So frankly it normally just sits in my gun cabinet with me oiling stock every so often because I also realize its barrel condition is such that its extremely rare exception to surplus Lee Enfields within Canada.

I just didnt realize it had the potential of grouping till yesterday fully and the windage was actually zeroed when I tested it at 25yrds.

Its probably going to sit for a while just out of cost reasons for .30cal: granted handloads and seeing what it can do would interest me. But thats something long time away.

Disclaimer:

I do not support Colt Canada and what they are doing, however this is not a political circlejerk, so please keep that shit in the Megathread, because my posts are not grounds for political discussion unless it is DIRECTLY related to the firearms.

Anyways with that out of the way.

Howdy Folks!

The Texan is back with yet ANOTHER Gun Appreciation Post, where today, we got something that used to be around in Canada before being listed as prohibited.

The one and only!

Colt 9mm

Also includes AR9’s which is the main topic of this thread. So if you had an AR9, chances are that you could have used either Colt mags or Glock mags in yours depending on how you had it set up.

These also make perfect hiking guns and truck guns when you need to be on patrol.

Anyways that’s today’s post.

Enjoy!

The Texan is Back with yet another gun appreciation post. Today I was feeling a bit French, so how about we do a MilSurp today!

The one and only!

Lebel 1886

Probably not one you would find very often in Canada, but nonetheless it is very cool to look at, I mean this thing was revolutionary because it’s one of the first rifles to use Smokeless Powder.

Anyways, Enjoy!

Howdy Folks!

The Texan is back with yet ANOTHER Gun Appreciation Post! Today we have an all time classic, and the best part? You can still get them in Canada if I am not mistaken, and Norinco made copies of this shotgun to revive it, along with Cimarron Firearms.

You recognize it from plenty of games such as Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption II, as well as plenty of films such as The Mummy. This gun barely needs an introduction! The one and only! Winchester Model 1897!

Enjoy!

These were mounted on SMLE No.1 Mk III rifles and were used during WW1, the interwar period, and WW2 and were among the last of the "sword bayonets". This particular model was manufactured by Wilkinson in 1918 in Britain and the C-broad arrow marked on the pommel showing it was accepted for use by the Canadian army. The frog is also C-broad arrow marked.

Howdy Folks!

The Texan is back with yet ANOTHER Gun Appreciation Post, where today, we have something that was at one point available in Canada, but unfortunately…. Yeah 2020 happened and it’s no longer possible. But at the same time, It’s a cool gun, and I actually have one funny enough.

The one and only!

Colt M4 Carbine.

I made mine inspired by the M4 SOPMOD Block II, and honestly it’s one of my favorite rifles to shoot.

Now I know you are all gonna get mad at me in the comments for mentioning Colt. Let me already tell you this:

I AM WELL AWARE OF THE SHIT COLT CANADA IS PULLING AND I DO NOT CONDONE WHAT THEY DO, NOR DO I SUPPORT THEIR ACTIONS. But please, do not go on a rant about Colt Canada in the comments, I am already aware and think it’s wrong what they are doing. But please keep that shit in the politics Megathread.

Anyways.

The Colt M4 Carbine was influential for what it was, and it truly set the standard for what a modern carbine should be.

Milsurps / Prohib Heckler & Koch HK USP/P8 Appreciation Post

Howdy Folks!

The Texan is Back with yet ANOTHER Gun Appreciation Post!

Another gun once available in the Canadian Gun Market before the handgun freeze and essentially prohibition of handguns. But when it was available you could get them.

Anyways, today we have the classic HK USP Pistol, and honestly, this pistol made a statement for the philosophy of what it should be in the modern era unofficially if you think about it. There were pistol lights with it, and that was something that the USP did in the early days of its release. It was pretty ahead of its time because they bridged classic pistol design with modernity, and they made mounting weapon lights a whole lot easier.

The USP was also one of the first pistols built from the ground up specifically for the higher pressures of the .40 S&W cartridge, and yeah some might see .40 S&W as a dated cartridge, but for its time, it was actually pretty impressive.

It was also very corrosion resistant too, meaning it would LAST FOR YEARS.

Thanks for reading!

Enjoy!

Milsurps / Prohib Lee Enfield question

New to milsurp. Need help with:

  1. Identifying this rifle. I thought this is Lee Enfield No4 Mk2 but stamps on the receiver and bolt seem to be different

  2. Zeroing front sight. I saw YouTube videos people loosening the front screw to move the front sight but mine seems to have none.

  3. Is my rifle missing anything in the rear sight ? How do you set the elevation ?

  4. Is there anything this rifle seems to be missing ?

Howdy Folks!

The Texan is back with yet ANOTHER Gun Appreciation Post!

Today we have an all time classic from the 1980s and 1990s, and it was actually one of the earliest guns to be under the prohibited list in Canada from what I have learned, and it was available in the Canadian gun market at one point, but it’s VERY rare, like you don’t see it that often.

Nonetheless it is a still very cool shotgun that deserves a lot of love, and I think that we should continue appreciating it.

The one and only

Milsurps / Prohib Mauser Gewehr 98/Kar98k Appreciation Post

Howdy Folks!

The Texan is back with yet ANOTHER Gun Appreciation Post, where today we have a MilSurp that is often loved, and also seen as overrated by many. The one and only!

Mauser Gewehr98/Kar98k

Also to those about to accuse me of being a Nazi, I can assure you that I am not one, I am Jewish and I keep my posts Apolitical, and I talk about the history of the firearms and go a bit on the technical side of things.

Anyways with that out of the way.

The Mauser rifle was a revolutionary weapon that was produced, in fact most bolt action rifles nowadays pay homage to Paul Mauser’s design, and it was a big step in industrial production. Over 100 Million Units were produced, that is if you count the copies and of course modern derivatives too. If there was one rifle that I would pick that symbolizes an industrial machine that is the definition of mass production, I would say that this rifle is definitely a contender for that title, first place obviously goes to the AK platform, but this, for its time, it was very impressive that this weapon was copied and kept being mass produced. Hell even too this day, Mauser actually still makes G98s, but mainly as hunting rifles.

8mm Mauser is also still widely mass produced as well, where it is popular in Europe alongside 6.5x55mm Swedish as a hunting cartridge.

Anyways!

Enjoy everyone!

The Texan is back with yet ANOTHER Gun Appreciation Post!

Today we have a CAF Weapon, and don’t worry, I listened to y’all and kept it related to Canada with guns. I know this one isn’t available to an average citizen, but still is worth a mention because there are some CAF Guys in this subreddit who probably have experience with this weapons.

If anybody wants to give a suggestion for a gun available to an average citizen in Canada, I am open to suggestions.

Anyways.

That particular weapon is:

THE C9 LIGHT MACHINE GUN!

Better known internationally as the FN MINIMI.

Also thanks u/Ohphee for helping me out on this one, I couldn’t have done it without you, and you were extremely helpful in the making of this one.

Anyways, today we have a gun that was once available in Canada before it was prohibited, and I actually have seen Arm&Gun’s video on it too.

The one and only!

FAMAE SAF!

It comes from Chile as well, and usually you don’t see that many guns from Chile either, since you barely hear about it, but this is arguably one of their most well known ones, and it’s pretty cool for what it is.

Enjoy everyone!

The Texan is back with yet ANOTHER Gun Appreciation Post, where today we have the one and only SPAS-15, and yes I checked, it was at one point available in Canada before being prohibited.

Mag-Fed shotguns can be bought in Canada, and there are a few that are available. I have mentioned in the past the Norinco Hawk 97-2 that is mag fed, and I even made a post on the Valtro/Brixia PM-5 Shotgun.

This one is another retro classic.

Anyways, enjoy!

Today we have a gun that once served in the Canadian Army, and it has seen plenty of combat throughout the first half of the 20th Century, and this is also one of the most successful designs made by John Moses Browning.

That’s right, today we have the one and only!
