Brampton man strikes again

By way of India

Almost certainly from Brampton.

There's so little information in this article...

13

u/Hmfic_48 21h ago

I mean, not much more on the release from OPP Bracebridge.

The interesting part is the decision not to name the parties.

22

u/Lumindan 21h ago

Just once, id like to see names, makes and models and a bit of actual clarification.

The vague posting the media does is infuriating sometimes

22

u/Hmfic_48 21h ago

The fact that they generalized the area they were from as the "GTA" and didn't even give a city/region tells you all you need to know.

u/dgod40 21h ago

OP clarifies this was the information provided by the OPP and you still say "media". Have we lost reading and comprehension nowadays?

OP clarifies this was the information provided by the OPP and you still say "media". Have we lost reading and comprehension nowadays?

My reading comprehension is fine, you might be struggling though.

I'm commenting about the difference of what OP posted afterwards from the OPP vs what was in the news article.

And the rest of comment still stands, we don't have names, we don't have makes or models.

-1

u/dgod40 21h ago

What extremely important information was missing from the CP24 article vs the OPP release?

3

u/Lumindan 21h ago

And the rest of comment still stands, we don't have names, we don't have makes or models.

The media isn't naming names or makes / models, is it people illegally shooting their prohibs? Is it just some guys with SKSs? Who did it?

I don't get why your coming at me full speed with how sparse the OPP release and the news post is.

It's pretty vague.

0

u/dgod40 20h ago

I'm just saying the news article is space because the OPP release is sparse. But everyone wants to constantly say the media has a bias. They shouldn't be making up stuff, should they?

1

u/Lumindan 20h ago

I'm just saying the news article is space because the OPP release is sparse

Oh is that what you're saying now? Or was it an issue with my reading comprehension and what I clearly wrote in my earlier comment?

But everyone wants to constantly say the media has a bias.

One, did I write anything at all about that in this comment chain? Did I make any inferences at all? No I didn't. I asked for info regarding a vague news article and a vague opp release. It's almost like if there was more information at hand people in here wouldn't be grasping at straws.

Two, all media has bias, there's very little objective reporting in the current year. As a person on the Internet it's up to you and anyone engaging in the content to parse that.

They shouldn't be making up stuff, should they?

No shit Sherlock, but releasing half baked vague posting article is just as bad because people will jump the gun on stuff.

Again, my original comment STILL stands. I wish we had more information. That's all it is, not sure why that's so controversial.

The vague posting the media does is infuriating sometimes

You can write all the long paragraphs you want, but that sentence AFTER you were told the OPP put out that info says everything. Either way have a nice evening and a happy thanksgiving.

Curious what they were doing wrong. I go shooting at Tower Road occasionally by Mactier, the same spot where you’ve seen videos posted here of a group of Indian guys shooting in the air, and shooting at a wooden bridge. It’s a very well known spot, and plenty of safe areas to shoot - and the only signs posted are “No unsafe discharging of firearms.” Wondering when that spot will get shut down.

This article has a bit more information:

https://muskokatoday.com/2026/10/five-young-gta-men-charged-in-relation-to-ongoing-public-recreational-shooting-concerns-on-public-lands-in-georgian-bay-township/

From the article: The charges were related specifically to where they were shooting in relation to the hydro cut.

Maybe they were shooting in an area where the hydro company had a utility corridor, on maps I can see a transfer station at the end of the road, any signage that says something about it being restricted access?

2

u/jafferman 18h ago

Can't shoot 200m from the power line corridor

1

u/methlabz 20h ago

Is there a backstop there? Like a hill or something?

0

u/ConstructionOk4528 16h ago

The whole place from where u enter it's just power lines and marshlands with ATV roads there is big backstops but those goa cords the trail so idk if your allowed to shoot

1

u/ConstructionOk4528 16h ago

I've been shooting there plenty times aswell there's a lot of ATV roads so I think they might have been too close to a road

64

u/fajita123 21h ago

Funny they weren’t named. “five men between the ages of 22 and 27 were charged with disobeying a notice under the Public Lands Act.”

80

u/jwubadubdub 21h ago

Just some Ontario men

Are you suggesting there's a concerted effort by newsmakers to conceal the identity of certain perpetrators?

48

u/fajita123 21h ago

I would certainly never insinuate media is censoring names to protect certain racial groups.

-13

u/dgod40 21h ago

Newsmakers

The OPP, the POLICE, did not release the names. Do you want CP24 to just make up stuff now?

20

u/jwubadubdub 21h ago

You seem a little salty, friend. You wouldn't happen to be an Ontario man, would you?

u/kefefs_v2 20h ago

I mean he isn't wrong. The news can't report the names if the cops keep them secret.

2

u/dgod40 21h ago

You guys just make up stuff and the rest of y'all are like "that's right buddy". Also your comment is ridiculous since I'm theoretically defending the media, not the shooters in this situation. I know it's hard to use your brains when reading but just try once in a while.

10

u/jwubadubdub 20h ago

Enjoy the culture, Ontario man

26

u/Disclosjer 21h ago

Name and shame these morons.

13

u/FigureYourselfOut 20h ago

Unpopular opinion but names should always be withheld when charged and published only when found to be not innocent.

1

u/Glad_Impact_7532 11h ago

Nah

Edit: they know

1

u/unknownoftheunkown 4h ago

Why? Do you even know what they actually did?

9

u/Grouchy-Lemon2350 20h ago edited 20h ago

We’ve seen an epidemic of trashy show-off videos of these “Surrey/Ontario/GTA men”  recklessly shooting and almost hitting each other while having no trigger discipline. The article title alone makes the context obvious.

15

u/dgod40 21h ago

So the OPP says "Disobeying a notice" and then "familiarize themselves with the laws". I just searched and I can't find anything online regarding a notice for the area. So unless they were shooting right beside a sign that says no shooting, that's bullshit. Crownland atlas says good to go and your supposed to magically know there is some hidden provincial notice?

8

u/1882greg 20h ago

I think municipal bylaws could be an additional layer of regulation. But yes, I want to know what rules they broke more than anything.
It’ll be interesting to see if anything ultimately comes from this. Could just be urban Karens and Kens getting their noses out of joint. Same reason so many ranges have such restricted shooting hours.

u/IndependentGlum9674 16h ago

if it was bracebridge, this is their firearms discharge bylaw: https://bracebridge.civicweb.net/document/27061/

and based on what the opp said about which part of the public lands act they charged them under (section 28-3) that can be found here: https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/90p43

hard to interpret what 'law' they were breaking with such vague information provided

2

u/jafferman 18h ago

I know there was a sign recently to not shoot 200 m within the power tower line corridor

19

u/steeleclipse2 20h ago

Shot in the dark here, but I'm guessing some of the accused (if not all) have the same last name?

2

u/JurboVolvo 21h ago

What laws did they break?

11

u/ReverseMissionary 21h ago

Likely rapid firing from bridges and roadways and leaving spent shells and brass everywhere. Seems to be a TikTok trend.

From what I understand, this is tower road near mactier. Same place other "from the GTA" people got in trouble for shooting off a bridge. There seems to be a lot of complaints in the area to the point where the OPP patrol it now. Also, Georgian bay township did add a bylaw regarding  not being able to discharge of firearms back in May.  I had a spot not far from it that was in the same township and because of these people and the new bylaws it screwed me. (Though I had no problem when I was there before I learned about them)

Unless I'm misunderstanding it ofc.  Never been more than a few hundred feet down the road myself either
