Application / Regulation advice Sending firearms via Canada Post
Is there anything special I need to do to mail myself some firearms? Or just box them up and send them?

Box it up and send it. An unloaded firearm is not dangerous goods.
While in transit its a parcel, not a firearm. Thats how CP employees are allowed to handle (mishandle lol).
Always send with tracking, insurance ismuo to you and the buyer.

What about disassembled? If I ship just a 10/22 receiver what do I need to do?

Rip a zip tie through anythign to immobilize any action.
It's dumb here but even a stripped lower is still a firearm. I need one on my banned stripped lower lol. It's a hunk of aluminum.

Just make sure your sports equipment is unloaded and packaged well with no sports equipment markings on the box. Then bring it to the post office and ship your sports equipment.

If you want to insure it, better follow Canada post's online rules for shipping a firearm. (In a case that is locked and a box overtop of that). If you ever had a claim for a firearm damaged in transit and you hadn't followed their rules to the letter, they'd certainly deny your claim.

Box it up preferably something with some padding or bubble wrap. If you have a generic box that doesn’t make it look like a gun they prefer that. Take the magazine out, unload it and take the bolt carrier group/firing pin out if you can. Throw a combination trigger lock on it and you’ll be fine.

Also needs to be in a non-transparent container/box. Not loaded obviously and the container needs to be sturdy.

Done it many times, just insure it and use xpresspost. The less time it’s in other peoples hands the better but if somebody stole that would only make them a criminal not you,

I throw those cheap trigger locks you get off SKS rifles on anything I ship. Probably not necessary but it can’t hurt and they are like $3.

Canada Post asks that you get a small business account to ship guns, you just sign up for it online. That being said, mail is mail.

If it is in the factory box, flip it inside out so there is no identifying marks on the outside saying winchester or ruger.

I believe trigger lock is the minimum requirement

Dealers don’t do that when they send you a new one. Just box it up make sure it’s unloaded and you can’t tell it’s a fire arm and send it don’t mention anything about a firearm

CP says a trigger lock, but 95% of retailers and private sellers don't ship with them. Don't tell Canada Post it's a firearm, some tellers freak out and try to say they won't ship, you need this, you need that, etc. Pack it well, and make sure the muzzle is protected adequately (I've had many shipped to me with the barrel poking out of the box).
