I could not share or comment on the original post. So here is the original post

There are two reasons the firearms were removed from the RCMP museum.

1. The current CEO is anti firearms and will not let any resemblance of firearms or anything about them in anything they offer.

2. They were too cheap to replace the glass and so based on current conservatory rules and law they can’t be placed in there anymore. TBH this display was the best part of the museum.

The Museum CEO should be fired for failing at the job of not representing history factually.

Not displaying artifacts they may or may not have isn't really changing how they represent history.

Museums often have artifacts, and that's great. But they also have plenty of stuff that's just text, photos, and videos.

I think they're being super cheap deciding not to upgrade the glass to display what they have. But that's very different from what you're suggesting

In the Plains of Abraham museum there is an interactive exhibit where you get to heft muskets and swords. I assume the firearms in that one are non-firing reproductions - it's pretty cool.

Who even knows anymore. Canadian war museum in Ottawa has plenty of deactivated firearms (some you can even touch) on display, and not just antiques as there’s FALs, C7s, and C8s on display. Sometimes the museums don’t even own the pieces on display and the owner wants them back (could have been the case if RCMP was borrowing from a collector).

Or it could be those other things. The RCMP seems to whiffle between Firearms in Canada being ok and firearms in Canada being a problem and it seems to depend entirely on who’s in charge. The commissioner right now is a Trudeau appointee.

But it is interesting the amount of “nothing meetings” attended by far left types, and I’ve never met a real real productive problem solver type that resonates with that morale compass alignment. I doubt either of these is the reason. Like others have said there are plenty other Parks Canada and government of Canada museums that have deactivated firearms. The original post was as much of a joke / Jab at Liberal patheticness than a serious question.

They have these things because they updated their displays to meet regulations. This organization can’t be bothered to do so.

IIRC, the same thing happened to the museum at CFB Borden. The new leadership did a hard pivot on a lot of the exhibits and policies, and drove most of the old staff away.

This is outrageous! Someone should go there with a big bottle of whiteout and erase those guns from the picture. I mean if you are going to modify history, why go at it in a half-assed way.
