I have experienced half a dozen pre-orders, always for high demand, highly hyped black rifles just like this.
The shit that can and will go wrong:
Longer than promised ETAs, much longer.
Price increases between pre order and delivery. BS reasons will be provided.
Product delivered not being as advertised, different barrel, stock, sights, magazines etc.
Pre-order cancelled after you have already paid for a deposit due to the manufacture failing to meet the demand and deliver on the product.
Liberal government bans the product before the rifle makes it to market, or worse bans the rifle as it’s already purchased and being shipped to your house..

I’ve got a question, if I preorder and put the money down, and it gets banned before I get it.. do I get a full refund, or just store credit? RDSC is offering preorders, but if it gets banned only offers store credit instead of refunds. This is the deciding factor lol

I pre ordered from Uxbridge. Was just a deposit not the full amount upfront, once it's in country the remaining payment is due. I think that's the best way to do it vs forking out the $2500 or so upfront.
These look pretty fun. If it gets banned as well the deposit is refundable, even if I back out, full refund on the deposit. They gave me a timeline of 3 months which I can live with. If it takes 4 or 5, whatever. I missed the boat on most of the good days of shooting in Canada, so this is my first proper modern sporting rifle so I'm taking the leap of faith.

Ive lived thru the gun bans in the late 70s, 80s, 90s with 12.1 12.2 12.3 12.4 12.5 12 6 status firearms
Iam happy as hell that ive had an opportunity to own many amazing firearms over the years regardless of bans and safe queens, it has never affected my financial situation and i have never lived in fear about gun bans
I cannot imaging living a life in your shoes, in fear and scared to buy something in fear of a ban, with that train of thought you might as well sell everything you own or donate them to your local gun club for new and upcoming shooters, relinquish your PAL to the CFO and get into Golf
You can always make more money
But you cannot always replace a firearm
SERIOUSLY get a grip on your mental state and life!

I work a thankless job and make 35$ an hour , I live a very modest low key life, but I am responsible with my money and do/buy what I love and enjoy, I have no debt except mortgage, guns are my only hobby so I indulge
The moral of my post is not about the money or cost, sorry it came across that way, im not trying to be arrogant by any means
What Iam trying to say is please do no let this corrupt, disgusting government scare you into not buying something in the fear of it being banned, live your live and enjoy yourself
Example:
Everyone was scared they were going to ban the Henry Homesteader ( they might they might not )
Ive been enjoying mine for 3 plus years
And others have still not bought one because they were scared they were/are going to ban it
In the meantime they could of been using it freely for 3 years but they choose not to buy one in fear of it being banned
Please dont live that like and miss out on enjoyment of life

I 100% see your logic and have always agreed. It’s better to have them than to lose your opportunity to never own one. My one regret with my purchases was that I didn’t buy more before the bans. Not less. Don’t care they’re safe queens. Wish I had more.

It’s always said backorder. I think as long as the product page is up they are still accepting first shipment preorders. The “backorder” appears because they don’t actually have any in stock and this is just how their store front is set up.

Yes, it seems that way. After calling them yesterday and knowing that preorders were going live, I was able to find the product listing on their website the minute it went live and before it hit their front page or was categorized properly. Even then it has always said “backorder”.
I would still call them though just to confirm. Real friendly guys that are always nice to talk to!

I think the best way to prevent this from happening is companies need to not publish when they get an FRT and just have the rifle show up on store shelves, that way the internet makes less noise and poly has less chance to see it. Unfortunately that’s bad for business and makes no sense to do.

See with the FRN's getting approved for a non suppressed AS-VAL model, the Motiuk SA-80, and this rifle I'm getting pizza party vibes. You know how when the pizza places around the Pentagon get massive orders right before something bad happens because the feds are rewarding everyone with a pizza party before dropping some heavy shit? That's kinda what I think is happening, they're passing a bunch of semi auto cool things with NR/R FRN's but give it 6 months and they'll blanket ban every semi auto and restrict the sks to sustenance hunters only.

Depends. If it's banned before their imported into the country then you get nothing and lose deposit. If they're banned after they reached the store but you haven't paid the rest of the cost then you're out of your deposit and store keeps gun to be delt with. If it's banned after you've completely paid for the rifle but before it actually gets shipped to you, they will still ship it since you are the owner and the store keeping it is theft.

Could this be a trap by the RCMP? Give something people want NR status then a year later declare it prohibited and go to all the retailers and get the sales records and PAL of everyone who purchased one?

First, the "backdoor registry" is a bit of a fools errand. It might be worthwhile to go after a straw purchaser but anyone else can easily say the rifle was destroyed as NR or they sold it to someone from a PAL check but do not recall which person.
Second, although the FRT isn't law - a lot of the tomfoolery has been over variants. This has an FRT - so it would need to be banned by OIC. I don't think they can OIC anything right now. It looks bad for Carney because he is supposed to be "master economist" and then goes to pander with his majority. It also keeps the wedge issue alive for legislation change in 2029 assuming no election beforehand.
No one can guarantee point two but nothing is really certain at the moment.

The NR version will be 18.6 inch barrel. I believe I read somewhere they got another FRT for an R version with a 16 inch barrel but I haven’t checked myself. I think it would look pretty stupid with an 18.6 inch barrel and 12 inch handguard lol. I’d have to assume that there’s longer handguards that would fit on it or some will be made eventually.
