Do I need to bring my registration certificate when I go to the range with my handgun?

During the RPAL course, they tell us you need your PAL card, your registration certificates (I bring photocopys) and your conditions letter (also a photocopy).

I was always curious if a copy of the cert is the same as "the registration certificate". I do the opposite just to be safe legally... I bring the originals and keep copies in the safe as my record

I recently emailed the CFP and was told "Photocopies of your registration are not legal. You always have to have the original document with the firearm."

The registration is the entry in their database, the certificate is evidence that this existed at some time. CFO doesn't know shit. Yes, it has to be produced on demand (by law).

misplacing your passport or driver's license doesn't mean you are no longer a citizen or need to retake the driving test

It is a letter detailing your Conditions. That is the Transportation condition and if you have any other conditions like 12.7 prohibited or whatever. Your new PAL card came attached to this letter.

That is interesting. I'm not saying what the truth is, just what they tell us at the course (I think they are required to tell you that). Also, the letter says that you are required to keep it. I don't think the law states that you are required to keep the letter. Much like a lot of our firearms laws, no NE really knows until a judge makes a decision (and someone is in jeopardy).

Just went and looked,sure enough there's a bottom portion to the letter that came with my card. Glad I asked lol
