Is anyone getting through to the CFO for restricted transfers?

I understand that the sheer volumes of transfers is slowing things down immensely, but everytime i try to start a Restricted transfer by calling in for the reference number, it drops the line. How are gun stores managing to get anything done?

Is there a different number we can call or a way to do it all online?

Super frustrating and it feels like the gov is more than happy to make it as slow and painful as possible.

I've literally called 30 times a day every day since the announcement to get two pistols transferred into my name I call at 1 minute after they open in the morning and it's already playing that stupid pre recorded message it's b******* it's some off the books attempt to control the gun sales because the government would look like a bunch of boobs for making their announcement that the announcement of the freeze wouldn't increase gun sales so if the RCMP were to start accepting all these transfers it would make the government look like a bunch of boobs that they are .you cannot buy a pistol in this country right now I get emails from Canada firearms outlet or whatever at 11:15 a.m. about new restocking of pistols by 5:00 when I got off work they were all sold out.

I sent in a transfer form registered mail they receive it but you can't call anybody about it because they don't answer the phone anywhere if you try and select five for general inquiries it'll hang up on you

I know the sequence of numbers and options right by heart I've called so many times

Press 1 for English Listen to the announcement as soon as she says strengthening our gun control laws ,

Press 4 to transfer a restricted firearm

Press 2 right away to continue with a restricted firearm transfer

It'll say one moment while we transfer you along those lines

You hear a half a ring . Exactly like when you call a cell phone that has your number blocked , half a ring and then the stupid pre recorded message . This doesn't put you on hold it just basically tells you to beat it and call back and then hangs up on you

Stupid Canadian government. I used to be so proud of living here and I used to think we had one of the best places to live in the world not anymore the government overreaching this country and the absolutely astonishing amount of f****** taxes we pay I can't stand it here anymore I hate it the problem is there's nowhere else to go kind of like our own government when it's time to vote no one to vote for f****** complete joke

I got through three times Thursday and Friday. You just have to call in at the right time -- I'll send you a PM for the trick. It's not government control, it's just government incompetency and the fact that there's twice as many transfers trying to go through this week than there usually are in a year. The lines can't handle the thousands of calls.

The guy I bought a Vostok Margolin off of took 3 days to get through. The first day he called 23 times and did not get though. On the second day he called 72 times and still did not get though... He didn't tell me how many times he called on the third day.

If you are not retired and your time is valuable to you it might be better just to mail the transfer request in.

Stores and retailers are all paper mail or online. 1 in 1000 seem to be getting through. There is some sort of paper form we can fill out but I’ve just given up and keep trying a few times a day and I’ll wait it out like the last time something like this happened

Thanks for the reply!! Is there any way civilians can do it all online or no?

3

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '22

No , you can only do a transfer of a non-restricted firearm online

I believe so, I don’t recall the form number but someone in this thread not too far down linked it!

F*** I think the government and the RCMP are in cahoots right now over this

But yeah I feel you dude super frustrating I waited 3 years to get my restricted pal because I have an old criminal record and finally finally I got my license amended to be able to own restricted firearms I have two pistols in Alberta that I can take possession of as soon as I'm allowed super frustrating dude like I want to pull my hair out but I'm bald 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Sorry for the 10,000 answers to your comment there but I feel you bro good luck to you I hope you get through and get what you need man before the government freezes a sport that I haven't even got to start yet

I don't want to go out and shoot living animals in the bush you know what I mean it's so much easier to do that in this country than to go and shoot paper silhouette targets

I don't get it there's literally four different numbers that are associated with a single restricted firearm ( your rpal #, the firearm registration Certificate Number, The firearm Identification Number ,and the FRT Number ) Do they really think any of these people are using their legally owned firearm for crimes or even losing track of them hell no

Just ridiculous

Im in the same boat except no record, i just loafted on getting the Rpal. But i did my rpal end of 2021 and got my buddy with his restricted to buy me a Dan wesson 1911 that was on sale. Now im rushing to get it transfered because they just issued my rpal last week! Unfortunately with the ban announcement like you said its ridiculous that we cant get a hold of anyone.

You can only transfer non-restricted firearms online or you have to be a business to do a restricted transfer online so if you're getting one transferred from another individual to you like say a family member your s*** out of luck

Got my buddy to call as they opened this am at 859 and no answer 😅 i got a form that i figure ill print fill out and email them

4

u/knine71551 Jun 18 '22

Make sure you read the form. Both the buyer and seller have to sign it before mailing it in don’t fax or email it in. Calling is still much easier I got in first thing Thursday morning and only waited 20 minutes

Ok fair enough the issue is my buddy works at that time and all day till they're closed so i dont wanna hassle him. Can i start the process as the buyer or does he need to start it as the seller?

2

u/knine71551 Jun 18 '22

You can start it as well I think but you would need your buddy’s pal and info. Double check the CFP website pretty sure buyer can initiate too

Thanks for the input!

You need to call the non restricted transfer line over and over until you get someone who can do the transfer. I called 6 times before I got someone who could do it for me.
