Specifically, going by Mendicino's comments that the ban will be "comprehensive" and prevent new "assault weapons" coming to market, I strongly suspect that it will be a modification to the classification system to finally define what constitutes an assault weapon in law - like a feature ban, like they have in some US states. I think it's unlikely that it will just be another list of models.
