I can't fill up my truck and I'm forking over a lot more money to buy food than usual. I think these two things take more precedence over partisan issues

Justifiable, however once the war in Ukraine ends causing gas prices drop and inflation gets under control in a couple of years: Canadians will care more about the "partisan" issues again.

If the CPC cannot modernize, and wants to keep their 1950s social mindset then the party will be dead in the water. The other week, I made this same argument in the CCFR group on Facebook and got relentlessly attacked for suggesting that we try to be more friendly to trans individuals, and that going further right to recapture folks who crossed over to the PPC was the wrong course of action

I don't know where to begin with this. Conservative values are conservative values, liberal values are liberal values. Things like abortion are almost never going to be condeded on. I honestly don't understand how environment turned into a partisan issue but I'm theorizing it has to do with pipeline construction. Gay marriage and other lgbt issues are also other things I don't necessarily see conservative voters conceding on either. The party has changed, voters not so much.

As far as I'm aware, you're not excluded from getting a PAL if you're trans. I'm not going to derail the conversation any further but I think you're trying to label the major demographic of the gun community as something else. You're making an issue out of something that wasn't really an issue to begin with. The PPC vote splitting is a big factor as to why 2021 was lost. O Toole kept pandering and lost. Voters don't like that.

This is it - especially when this conversation comes up most of the time it's just ABC voters where guns are enough of a policy position to bother them but not enough so they try to justify their political convictions that aren't backed by any reality or polling data (Harper not touching abortion for example, despite being a literal evangelical). It's the "mythical huge centrist (Neoliberal) voting bloc" meme all over again.

Also I find it funny the guy who wants MSRs banned is now replying to you. That one troll starts posting seriously, and now we get a new one. Nice.

Yup. It's futile trying to chase after people who would never vote for you to begin with. You see it in industries everywhere; companies, artists who try to water down what they originally are known for in an attempt to capture more people. More often than not it fails in two ways. You fail to get anyone new and your original group doesn't want you anymore. I think we saw this same thing in 2021 with the PPC gaining so much traction.

And ya it is pretty funny. Fuckin "I want low recoil semi auto carbines banned" looool

To be fair, I get where they're coming from. But it'd be a lot more honest and respectable if they'd just straight up said "I feel like another party aligns with my other interests more so I will go that way knowing that I have to give up on guns", instead of this weasel-wording bullshit.
