So what do we think these new measures are going to be ? My fear is an all out ban on semi autos

I think this time around, the government will take the "national cap and grandfather" approach. My reasons:

- When it comes to handguns, antigunners are calling for a cap and grandfather approach. The government will take this as tacit approval from the antigunners to go this route. It's a cost-effective and administratively easy approach.

- Nobody was happy with the municipal/regional handgun ban. I think the government will scrap that idea altogether.

- The government needed the 2020 OIC to make a splash and set themselves up as the "serious anti-gun party" and it worked for one election cycle. But that approach of "buying-back" guns is coming with a multi-billion price tag. I don't think they're going to do more along that approach in this current fiscal environment. They're going to allow grandfathering instead.

- I think handguns and pinned large cap magazines will come under this "national cap and grandfather" approach. As for semiauto rifles, I'm not sure if they will do anything more. I give it 50/50. They have enough credit from the 2020 OIC to say they "already banned the AR-15 used in USA shootings" and the general public doesn't know much about what's still left in the semiauto market. The current government does things for public image, so they might not see the value in going after more rifles. Handguns, on the other hand, continue to worry urban voters.
