So what do we think these new measures are going to be ? My fear is an all out ban on semi autos

  2. Magazine ban (no more 5/30's etc)
  3. Complete Semi Auto Ban

National handgun ban

No, he's still acknowledging that there is no unity on a handgun ban nation-wide, and that they're going to act "where there is unity". So that looks like it's off the table.

Magazine ban (no more 5/30's etc)

Possible. It's going to involve magazines in some way.

Complete Semi Auto Ban

Not a chance. You can't just drop a ban of potentially millions of guns with no prep. Look how much trouble the OIC is giving them. A total semi-auto ban (on short notice) is completely unrealistic.

I admire your optimism, but there is little to nothing stopping the LPC from doing the same thing they did in 2020 to the rest of the semi-autos. Look at the buyback, 2 full years after the OIC and it's kicked down the road, waiting to be exploited for the urban vote and you're dreaming if you think it couldn't happen again.

Now I'm not saying it will be this announcement but remember, Trudeau has 3 more years with the agreement that was made with the NDP and neither party cares about gun owners or firearm ownership.

Not if they grandfather them, no. But if this was their plan, I strongly suspect we'd have heard something about it by now. A full semi-auto ban is the kind of thing that leaks before it's announced. The Libs can't even keep a lid on their own internal fighting about handguns.

You might be right, but the Liberals could also keep something like that in their back pocket in the event of an election before 2025. There's a couple candidates in the Conservative leadership race who have railed against the OIC and further legislation that Trudeau is planning.

Remember, according to polls the topic of guns didn't even register in the top 10 of issues voters were worried about in the last election, but that doesn't stop Poly and left-wing voters from pushing the narrative that the 2020 OIC and further promised legislation delivered the win in the past 2 elections.

The thing is I don't believe any of these changes will be off the cuff. These plans have likely already been written long ago, with preparations being made ever since the OIC to further implement restrictions on legal gun owners.

We know the LPC wants all semi's gone because that's what poly wants. We know they want all handguns gone because that's the lowest hanging fruit that all of their uninformed urban voters can latch onto, believing it will have an impact on gangbanger shootings.

You kidding? Looks at the OIC list; that shit was compiled over a weekend and didn't include a ton of firearms models that have been in the country for decades.

They have no idea what they're doing, or the one person who did retired and no one can find their files.

I think that was about cost management, not a lack of prep time. There were news articles months before the OIC where Blair let slip that they were taking that approach.

Even just the "mass shooter greatest hits" compilation they came out with is going to cost them damn near a billion to deal with.

I don't think so. If they had these plans for any length of time, they'd be milking them for votes. It doesn't benefit them to keep them secret.
