It's quite clear at this point that harper hasn't done shit for us since C19 and isn't going to do shit for us. He's convinced that gun owners are too piss scared to vote for someone else.

I wouldn't pin this on Harper. Usually these kinds of decisions aren't made by government or order in council. In this specific case, it just seems like the good ol' gun friendly RCMP decided to make this call.

Actually, it is the Department of Public Safety (Public Safety Canada) that makes these rulings. Harper and Minister Stephen Blaney would be the men to attack on this, as of last July it would have been Vic Toews, as he was PS Minister then.

The RCMP does not have the legal authority to create regulations, they simply examine the weapon, make a suggestion, then carry out the ruling.

No, I don't think he personally decided to do this, but he's been at the top of the pile for 8 years now, and if he really did care about Canadians having to surrender firearms that they paid good money for, he could have changed the RCMP culture from the top...or added some legislation to the bill that abolished the registry to prevent retroactive prohibition.

Seems unlikely. There are probably 20 years worth of patronage appointments from the middle to uppermost rungs of the RCMP priesthood.

It's the RCMP and The Shooting Edge who couldn't just shut the fuck up and not try and burn their old business partner.

Harper or the rest of the gov have nothing to do with this.

No I don't, my gripe with the RCMP is that prohib shouldnt exist in the first place, not that they wrote the law but they arbitrarily reclassify things on their own whim.

Yeah you're right, in this case the law "worked" properly even if I don't like it. The fault is manufacturer, and the boat rocker.
