Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

I got a kick how infuriated people were in the main Canada sub when I said I hadn't called myself Canadian in years, and I didn't feel like I fit in here. Like yeah, I don't feel welcome. When my interest in firearms apparently makes me a latent criminal in the eyes of government and certain Canadians.

Yes, I don't feel Canadian, and haven't for some time.

Why would anyone want to be associated with this nation or most nations in fact is amusing considering besides a small handful of nations how many can honestly be considered net positives to the world and there citizens? Certainly not Canada that's for sure based on our history and the current way the state treats us the peons.

Nah it's awful because it has neo slavery and treats corporations better then it's people. It awful because to the state us peons are nothing more then chattel. It's awful because of the massive fucking double standards and hypocrisy.

My guy even compared to our peer nations where not looking so hot. Just because what? Where better then America? Yea low bar. If you really think the only beef people got with Canada is because of guns then you really don't know much. I have more beef with Canada for refusing to legalize sex work and instead keep it in a shitty grey area then I do with random gun bans. Albeit gun bans are like any prohibition. A lazy thing governments do to act like they are fixing the problem when they are doing diddly do nothing. Just like they acted for 95 years in keeping weed illegal in this country. They actively burned 100s of millions of dollars a year enforcing weed laws because they refused to see the forest for the trees until nearly 100 years later. They would rather waste money on propaganda trying to convince people they are right rather then do the hard thing and admit they are wrong to help people. That is why Canada is awful like virtually all nation states. If a nation state refuses to help it's people largely because of a unwillingness to admit wrong then it's awful. Simple as that.
