how many of these people even have a valid license? how many are citizens? can non citizens hold a PAL?

They have to go through the safety program. We let them have drivers licenses too and a car can cause a lot of damage.

A car is needed for daily life and for employment though, guns not so much

People with a work permit can do lots here and they pay taxes. Yes guns and cars aren’t the same. Both require a lot of responsibility.

The transit system exists for a reason. Having a vehicle isn’t a right it is a privilege.

Depends where, public transit exists. Some people should not have a license to drive.

There has been construction near where I live, and I've seen 4 accidents there and over a dozen near misses because people think road rules are just recommendations.
