Misc Will Henry Homesteader without a stock be considered a errrr... "handgun"?

So apparently, Henry Homesteader with just Nuemann Metalworks adapter and a pistol grip is very much a functional gun, sans butt-stock. It is even of NR length (27+ inches). It only misses a butt stock.

If we keep it in that configuration, will it be legal?

The only issue I see is objection is that argument can be made that since it is missing a butt stock, it has been altered to fire with one hand, ergo it is a handgun and no longer a rifle. Similar to how Taurus Judge Home Defender is considered as a handgun. This is ofcourse hypothetical argument.

Any one has insights in this?

Ha, this is my photo. No worries with you reposting it.

I do have a folding stock on it now, but I got the Neumann gear super early so wanted to post the photo before the stock arrived to recommend and show it off.

I believe the rifle came in just slightly over the legal OAL without the stock, dont recall the exact length but I did loom it up and it was maybe 0.25-0.5" over i think, so it was cutting it a little close, but it should be fine.

I would recommend just going for a folding stock, i did consider leaving it likr this though. With the ambi charging handle you can always swap it to the other side if the stock interferes at all. It would also do really well I think with a buffer tube and collapsing stock.

Still loving the rifle with new Neumann furniture. Sort of reignited my Homesteader love. Also have a Vortex red dot on it now.

One option that I wish to try is to use A3 Industries telescopic stock.

https://a3industries.com/modular-telescoping-stock-universal-picatinny-1913-mount/

Another option is to build a custom rail system for an actual B&T rails stock (w/o buffers) from SPC9 or APC9.

But yes, it makes a very fun PCC with stock removed.
