Fix my gun Tm22 constant light strikes / feeding issues / bolt locked half open
I bought a new tm22 from FOC back in June (OG 18” full metal one). Finally had the chance to shoot it today and it wasn’t a great experience to say the least.
Before I went to the crown lands I ran a patch down the barrel and did a light lub around the bolt area with some hoops live (I just took out the guiding rod and spring but didn’t dissemble the bolt).
Cci blazer: completely unusable. Every 2-3rd round was a light strike.
Aguila super extra: slightly better but a light strike every 5 rounds or so.
Cci mini mag: best, maybe one light strike every mag.
On top of this, I will get a double feed or stove pipe about once every 25-30 rounds
Sometimes the bolt would lock half open (no idea what’s going on here) and I’d have to twiddle with it with the mag out and and toggle the safety until I could get the bolt fully open to pull out the stuxk round.
Anyone else have similiar issues? I’m about to send this back for a warranty (but I am not expecting too much).

They need a little break-in
CLP/oil everywhere on the bolt. Rack that mofo 20 times with oil.
Dont fill the mags at max capacity at first. Run like 100 rounds of mini-mags then you should be able to run them at capacity.

Don't rack with safety on, I've been seeing reviews of the safety breaking when manually cycling with it on.

Yeah - I was having the same kinds of problems. I manually racked the bolt a bunch of times to shake the firing pin free and it started working fine. I later noticed that the safety wasn't .... being safe. Bad design.

Left extractor. Get rid of it. It’s likely hanging up and the bolt isn’t actually fully closed hence the light strike these will fire out of battery so watch out for that too on a side not my 16” pro has had one one stove pipe out of 700 rounds all I’ve done is clean it

My TM22 pro 16” runs great in first 300 rnds of minimag and cheap winchester white box. I bathed my TM22 in oil after deep cleaning everything.
You need to completely take the gun apart and clean. Don’t be lazy, I do this for all guns I have and never have any issues at all. It would be like 5 more minutes of your life comparing to time you would spend on clearing jammed rounds or sending the gun back for warranty
Some removed left extractor and the gun works flawless.
Have you done toonie mod?

Yeah I was just having the exact same problem today lmfao. I thought it was weird because my tm22 I sold had 0 issues at all, but this new tm22 pro 12” is light striking every 2 rounds.
Someone said to open up and check that the recoil spring and the bolt are lined up correctly, and someone else mentioned lubjng the bolt more

-Deburr all parts, including the magazine follower
-Strip the firearm's action down to its individual components
-Hose the piss out of it in brake cleaner
-Reintroduce lubrication like G96 or Ballistol to any sliding component during reassembly

Wait for the C22 from canuck if youre thinking of getting one of these. They'll have better QC+o'dell/magnus and sons behind them which means if something doesnt work on em you'll actually get it fixed.

I bought one the other day and it ran amazingly right out of the box no lube or cleaning. I was shooting it with federal automatch

Mine ran like shit until I removed the left extractor. Now it'll cycle anything including shitty Winchester bulk box and waxy Aguila

Check for burs, smoothen with 1000 grit and oil, and if that all fails, move on to the other suggestions. A good gun will cycle anything.

You’re likely running it too dry. As a few others have said you need to generously lube the bolt. It’s not the same design as a 10/22 which can run basically bone dry. The bolt is catching on the receiver. Just make sure you don’t get lube in with the firing pin.

Perhaps, though the gun is brand new and I already applied lube around the bolt assembly. A well made gun brand new should need to be fully dissembled to cycle properly more than 3 times in my opinion.
I’ll definitely do what you suggested though.

Mine shot like absolute garbage the first two times I took it out. Wouldn't cycle, stovepipes, fail to extract, double feed, every round light strike, you name it. I took it back out again last week after removing the left extractor and forcibly ran 100+ rounds through it, mostly manually ejecting all the light strikes. After that, it started to break in and is now cycling full mags of any ammo reliably with minimal light strikes.
I'm convinced it was just burrs or poor tolerances that needed to be ran hard to self-correct.

My first range trip was after only a basic clean and it was infinite light strikes. I lubed it like crazy , nothing else, and second trip was comparable to a normal .22 semi experience. I’m hoping to do my third range trip this weekend and I anticipate I’ll get the odd stove pipe or light strike still. I have both extractors installed still.

300 rounds, 2 light strikes I guess they were, but reloaded and shot them both. i followed my own advice and added even more lube to the bolt before heading out. I then tried to shoot hollow points.. FTF every other round. Gave up after 30 rounds. Hollow points suck in my TM-22 lol. They get stuck right in the magazine, actually.

I have the 12” pro, out of the 200 rd i put thru it on its first range day i had 2 or 3 light strikes out of 100 with CCI blazer, the other two types of ammo ran totally fine. Only had a light strike when mag dumping as fast as possible, otherwise it worked great

I had a similar issue with my Tm22. I did all the usual stuff: disassemble, clean, oil, left extractor removed, different ammo brands, nothing seemed to work. I found a replacement spring for my firing pin (one very similar to the stock one), and started cutting a half coil at a time. Eventually that made it run way better.

Mine was a bit sticky at first, but now it's perfect, cci blazer is my favorite 1300 fps. One of the first things I did was to pull the bolt out and give the flats a bit of a polishing on some 2500 grit sandpaper. Make sure it's clean and well lubricated. I also cleaned and lubed the magazine.
