I'm gonna get downvoted to oblivion, but the reality is that a lot of shitty criminals who can't buy a real illegal handgun use an airsoft one because it looks so similar. There has to be some mechanism to discourage shit criminals from doing shit criminal things.

Just going to point out that recording the name of a person who buys one does help hold people accountable if they commit crimes with them.

Not saying it is right - but your argument isn’t the checkmate you seem to think it is.
