Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

It's been incredible observing the leader of the opposition getting the most amount of media criticism since the last federal election rather than the actual prime minister and his government who's been in charge for a year and half (11 years total for the LPC btw). Not to mention that Carney's had a majority since April and yet the media still finds a way to focus the attention on the leader of the opposition.

You can't find any example in a provincial context either where the leader of the provincial opposition party has numerous media hit pieces ran against them. Interesting how this seems to only happen at the federal level in Canada.

It's all so fake/inorganic and IMO it's done to create the context that he's not popular anywhere in Canada. Yet anecdotally you can still see that he's pretty popular based on face to face interactions that he has with the public. Polling anyone under the age of 55 in Canada shows this too.

However, sadly, the media narrative works against him because the number 1 consumer of legacy media in Canada are boomers. They also are the ones that are being heavily oversampled in all the polling. Boomers are still heavily in support of the Liberals and Carney where it's like a 70/30 split.
