Application / Regulation advice Avg Timeline for BCSTA Exemption letter?
How long does it take on an average to get the exemption letter from BCTSA Since I joined and sent them an email, i haven’t received any response from them yet. Not even acknowledgment email ( if there is of some sort? H. Been about a week.

My dad lives in BC. He said curt (the president of BCTSA) got back to him the following day

Interesting differences in timelines. I just read the website again where he has updated information and it mentions that he is a volunteer and does it when he can. Specifically asks not to bother him with email, unfortunately read that once i had sent him a follow up email 🤦♂️

I waited about a month, but re-read the web page you download it from and resubmitted my form completed properly and received a few days later. Just sent another and have been waiting two weeks so far.

BCTSA said they’re no longer issuing multiple exemptions. One and only unless you provide proof you’re competing (this was new last week or so)

Yes. I just read that too. Honestly dont even need multiple unless im actually competing and need a better performance setup. Initially i plan to take part in training and local competitions that are held at the range. Im surprised at the frequency of these competitions. There one every couple weeks!

That would have been nice to know before i got the kadet slide cz 75 with the simulated additonal recoil for training lol. Guess ill go lose some matches.

Well unless you already had them previously. Looks like they got an influx of exemptions and multiple requests.

Was there any acknowledgment email of them receiving your request or was it straight to you receiving your exemption letter in an email?

Straight to getting the exemption. No confirmation or nothing. It just appeared in my inbox one day

I guess the gravy train came to an end. It was good while it lasted. Good news is if you got your 2, 3, 4 exemption letters you're good to go. That's why I always said to get as many as you can while you still can.
This exemption is for Olympic and Paralympic shooting. It is NOT a workaround of the law. I am going to be enforcing some new, arbitrary rules:
- Unless you are ACTIVELY competing, you will be limited to 1 exemption for a training handgun. Choose wisely. Competition includes Provincial competition, and competitions sponsored by our affiliated clubs running under the appropriate ISSF rules. If claiming active competition you will be required to provide a reference to your last competition. Active, for now, is within the past 12 months. Remember, the handgun in question must be necessary for training, and until you start competing, I'm considering one to be sufficient.
- I may allow some latitude, with support from a certified coach.
- Regarding the possibility of center fire handguns: NO. There are very few circumstances where I would consider this necessary, and if you need to ask, or need to ask where to find a coach to sign off, the answer will be a very firm NO. Don't even try. The exemption is for Olympic and Paralympic events, not all ISSF events. The Centerfire events are NOT Covered.
- I will not be responding to "Did you get my application?", "Where is my letter?", "Just checking up on...". Cool yer jets. I'm a volunteer and I'm doing what I can. If you need to, send a note 3 weeks in and I'll look, but don't expect a response unless the request is lost and I need you to resend it. As I understand it, there are only 2, maybe 3, of us in all of Canada providing these letters. Best not to annoy us.

apparently they got spammed by guys just looking to get a 22 they can convert into a centre fire. so they changed the rules. they also apparently scored heat from all the internet people bragging (specifically, reddit) about their exemptions.

apparently the BCTSA does, i am just a guy who got in earl(ier), talked to the people involved recently, and heard the info

I got my first letter in two days but my second letter has been submitted 2 weeks and I have not heard back from BCTSA. i guess with the new rule, I won’t receive my 2nd exemption unless I could give them a proof that I am competing

I submitted my request for 1x 22LR on 19-JUL and I have not heard back yet.
Am I out of luck?

I submitted about 12 days ago haven't heard back yet. Form completed fully. No confirmation email either. Just standing by. He's probably extremely busy considering writing exemptions isn't their actual job and just a service they decided to provide. And now every gun owner in BC has asked for one.
