My concern with ā€œit sucks here I want to leaveā€ is that itā€™s very anti-patriotic. While I love firearms and this community, I love my actual country - the landscape, culture, and core values - even more than that.

Iā€™d prefer stay, contribute my productivity and taxes, participate in my civic duty to vote, and ultimately try my best to engage politically to improve this place rather than leave. I also believe thatā€™s the patriotic thing to do.

More power to you m if you want to leave, especially if youā€™re not interested in permanent residency or citizenship but I definitely think itā€™s a bit misguided to leave simply due to the status quo politically. This is especially the case given the current legislative changes being made in the US. Trump isnā€™t exactly pro-2A and many states are actively harming their gun communities much like here (like Virginia, cali, etc). We actually have less restrictions here than some specific states.

Thank you man put my feelings into words. People will have 1000 things to be grateful for in this country and then name an obscure incident that doesnā€™t even affect their day to day lives as to why itā€™s a evil fascist country or something

Depends who you ask. Obviously it's a great country relative to most others. But there's a decline in quality of life for people my age. The good thing is, once we get a government who actually cares about the people, we can be very prosperous. We should be one of the wealthiest nations in the world with all the energy and rare earth minerals we have. They do us no good while they're in the ground tho

I get what you're saying but I don't necessarily agree. I've been a Canadian citizen since 2005. Back then it was something to have pride in. And I don't chalk it up to the status quo, considering I've watched and did my so called civic duty of voting just to realise it does nothing it's all an illusion and a joke. At least 3rd world despots admit to it unlike here. I don't care much for Mr.Trump either so don't throw me into that crowd. I'm just a pragmatist if anything.

I can respect your perspective! That said Iā€™m trying to engage more beyond voting myself, and we definitely need reform since our first past the post system isnā€™t really great IMO (Iā€™m interested in what a real coalition government could do for us).

That said, voting still matters. And things can change in basically any country you go to so at some point settling down and giving back to wherever you land does have benefit.

Meanwhile, Trump has been the most 2A-friendly president compared with his predecessors. And even in the most restrictive states, people can still access ar15, although with more restrictions.
