Shooting Happy Birthday America!

Felt today would be a fitting day to take out my 1976 Ruger Blackhawk.

‘American Liberty’

They're free to go and buy one of these right now. Canadians are not. I'm not one to define what "liberty" is or entails, but you COULD start there...

That’s a fair response. When it comes to Canadian gun ownership policy we will likely very much agree on most things, but surely we don’t a list of consumer products to function as a Liberty-metric…the corporations have enough money as it is.

There are some others. I am not allowed to say "I don't think the residential schools were as bad as they say", for example. Whether I am correct in that statement or not is irrelevant, but I should not be prosecuted by the government for merely holding that opinion...

Can you provide me with a specific example? I can provide you numerous examples of the American state prosecuting and silencing dissenting voices. Those critical of Israel and the war on Iran as a recent example.

Our government has its flaws, but at least it somewhat tries to be beholden to, and serve, us, it’s constituants. The US Gov is so corrupt it doesn’t even pretend not to be anymore. And, no, you will not get prosecuted for having that opinion about Residential Schools here in Canada.

The fact that the Supreme Court seems interested in hearing the CCFR’s challenge (mostly on the merits that the Trudeau government abused the OIC and that sets a terrifying precedent for the courts and hopefully every other thinking human) at least shows some responsibility on behalf of our legal system. Canada is many things right now but not some Asian or African hellhole warzone where freedom actually goes to die. It’s not perfect but if you’re able to wake up in the morning and drive to hunting grounds or the gun range unbothered and shoot at (legal and in season) animals or targets, you’re still better off than a large portion of the world.

Yeah the current prohibitions on firearms sucks in Canada and I sincerely hope it changes, and I hope that the SCOC strikes down the usage of the OIC and that the current government is at least pragmatic enough to not waste any more resources on this, but it’s only hope at this point.

I’ve lived/visited other places in the world and other than the firearms themselves being in a state of legal limbo due to arbitrary classification from idiot politicians, the licensing and process for acquiring firearms is still comparatively easy in Canada vs many other countries where there’s either LOADS of hoops to jump through (Europe, Japan, England, Australia) or ownership is outright impossible for the average citizen (China, South Korea, Vietnam). We don’t have to give a reason why we want to own it, don’t need doctor’s notes or a psychiatrist’s approval, don’t need sponsorship from a gun club, and once you have your license buying guns and ammo is literally as banal as buying beer at the liquor store. More goes into buying a motor vehicle than a firearm.

You're talking to a communist. Just ignore them, their opinion is worthless.

Lmao what in the Fox News does this mean

-9

u/PrestigiousStatus711 20d ago

It means I don't value the opinion of communists.

11

u/trundle-the-great69 20d ago

you equate socialism with communism eh ?

-7

u/PrestigiousStatus711 20d ago

Which one was the USSR?

u/trundle-the-great69 20d ago

Communism

6

u/PrestigiousStatus711 20d ago

The USSR described themselves as being in the socialist stage, building the foundations for eventual communism. In this socialist stage they murdered millions of people.

Yeah, I realized that shortly after...

He called a person defending Stalin's atrocities "based" so of course he will hate America and liberty.

America and liberty have no business being in the same sentence. Certainly not after 9/11.

Do you think Canada is strong and free?

6

u/The_King_of_Canada mb 20d ago

Yes. Make real points and not bs rhetoric.

1

u/PrestigiousStatus711 20d ago

If you're free then go buy an AR or a handgun.

6

u/The_King_of_Canada mb 19d ago

Just more rhetoric.

u/AdditionalLoss7274 20d ago

Bro. You're not allowed to call a transgendered woman a man.

9

u/The_King_of_Canada mb 20d ago

...yes. You are.

The fuck are you talking about?

8

u/PrestigiousStatus711 20d ago

Go buy a handgun or an AR and tell me how free Canadians are...

-2

u/The_King_of_Canada mb 20d ago

We're smart enough to know that thats not freedom. You can easily get a handgun and assault rifle in Somalia.

4

u/PrestigiousStatus711 20d ago

I know over a dozen Canadians who have moved to the US yet none moving to Somalia. Why is that? Owning firearms is certainly a right and an aspect of freedom. Your attitude is exactly why Canada ended up with restrictions and bans. Keep treating it like a privilege and it will be eroded bit by bit. The last 3 decades are proof of that.

It is a privledge. The US has the worst crime rates of any developed country and they dont even use the 2nd like they claim theyre supposed to.

Their government is more corrupt than it ever has been. Blatent bribery across the board, gross nepotism, and a complete disregard for the law in letter or spirit.

A 40 year old mother was charged with terrorism for saying deny, defend, depose youre next to a rep from her insurance company.

Anericans routinely get large sums of cash removed under "suspicion" of it being profits of crime.

Their privacy laws are a joke, their personal data is legally sold to the highest bidder. Their data centers are raising water prices for locals. And protections from private companies poisoning their water tables or food supply have been stripped.

For fucks sakes theeres a dozen billionaires in the white house who make billions more every year because they get the heads up on how Trumps going to fuck the stock market next.

But hey. You can buy an AR. Not an LMG though thats where they draw the line.

Its a hit country and doesnt even crack the top 10 on the international freedom index.

Need some spell check there, buddy. I think you're a bit angry, take a breather. Maybe some range time (just not with an AR cause you're not allowed)

10

u/The_King_of_Canada mb 19d ago

Youre all rhetoric bud.

4

u/PrestigiousStatus711 19d ago

I'm free to buy an AR or a handgun, you're not.

3

u/The_King_of_Canada mb 19d ago

Im free to not get shot by an AR or a handgun. Youre not.

3

u/PrestigiousStatus711 19d ago

You don't think there are criminals in Canada with handguns? What an absurd statement.
