They can believe however that wait times can take forever. That’s in the realm of possible. So I would say “What would you do if they say they are 10 minutes out but danger is half of that if not less away?”
As a first responder, I can guarantee you that it is more of a possibility than not.
When you need them now, Police, Paramedic, and Fire are all minutes to an hour away. Everyone should be self-reliant and not depend on public resources as their first resort.
This is actually a reality for where I live. Thankfully I found out when it was just a transformer fire and not a huge emergency. They can get to me (eventually) but 911 connects me to some provincial dispatch and they had absolutely no clue where I was 😂
Yeah I experienced it in PEI and it was really disconcerting until I later took some personal responsibility for my safety. Growing up I always assumed I'd be able to get help and when I couldn't it freaked me right out the first time.

My family is extremely anti-gun going as far as to suggest that even owning one gun is a negative on society.
The same family told me during Covid that they’re gonna show up at my house when shit hits the fan because they know I can protect them.
You can’t have it both ways people.
