Some lunatics really have to ruin it for everyone else.

For sure SKS is going to be in next ban wave.

Apparenty the lunatic explicitly addressed weapon selection based on jurisdiction in a 100+ pages manifesto. He wrote that Canadians face a much narrower range of legal firearms than Americans, yet still recommended military-design rifles and carbines as the most direct and effective option.

For him the SKS was the answer to that constraint: the most capable military carbine legally obtainable in Canada with a standard PAL license.

Also side note, two motivations converged in one weapon: yes he picked the SKS as the best legal military option available in Canada, but it is also a Soviet rifle ideologically consistent with his Marxist-Leninist identity.

So he didn't stumble upon the SKS: he selected it deliberately as the optimal military weapon within Canadian legal constraints which is worse for us than I thought.
