It’s tilted. Usually scopes/red dots are securely mounted to the top rail

I got the same cheap red dot for my airsoft AR. Interested to see if a $30 optic would actually hold a zero on a 12 gauge...

I put one of these in my shotty. I got maybe 5 shots and then dead. I didn't really care since it was a 10 year old optic but I don't think these cheap optics are meant for any serious calibers. 22 for sure. 9mm and 357 out of a rifle yes. Anything higher will probably destroy the optic.

I think this is how this red dot is designed! I tried to zero it by using the bore laser thingy. Will take this to the range and see how it will perform.

Isn't this red dot marketed for paintball use? I'd be surprised if it lasts even a few seconds into your range trip.
You need something with a shockproof rating of 1000G for shotgun use.

When ordering look for something with 100+ moa adjustment (vs the 30 moa on your current airsoft one) and see if you can find a micro reflex (vs the external pivot style for the airsoft one) so the dot moves internally rather than the housing pivoting. Mount the red dot as far forward as you can while still being usable.
Nice shotgun btw, FDE looks great!

Interesting to see how the zeroing works. Usually red dots are adjusted with a hex screw that moves the actual diode left/right/up/down, not the entire sight itself. Im curious to see if it will hold up to the kick on that 612, i have one just like it so i know it bucks hard

I have a holosun i like alot. Very sturdy and have a shake awake function. I never turn the optic on or off, shuts off after an hour and turns on when i grab the gun, always ready to go. Can also get ones with solar power

Welcome to the sport, play with fun things, have a fun time. I'm also curious how that sight would work out, worst case it explodes and ends up 10 yards away I suppose. Sounds fun to me!

I think you have the wrong baseplate type for that optic. The optic should sit flush on the baseplate. That’s not going to work.

What I found was that dirt cheap optics and a 12ga dont work. .22? Sure. I even had one on a .357 for a bit but thats like the upper limit. Cheap dots have steel screws and aluminum bases. They will strip, they will work themselves loose. It’s not even about holding zero, the optic will literally come flying off.

Congrats on the setup, I really like the FDE 👀 I'm guessing the red dot plate looks wonky due to the adjustments/zeroing?
I have a shitty Amazon red dot on my semi 12ga and its held up mostly fine. I gotta tighten it down every range trip but can't complain about the cost!
Imo if it can stay zero'd after your first trip I'd keep it as long as it's functioning. Just make sure you keep it securely fastened. All my cheap optics tend to work themselves loose

Thanks for sharing this, brother! It definitely got a bit wonky while zeroing. Do you know what ft/lb settings I should use to torque these screws?

Yes i fired 50 shots of slugs and it stood like a champ. Got loose a little bit but nothing so crazy.

I always do 20 inch lbs on mine and they still rattle themselves loose. It never falls off just loosens... I always retorque em when I get home. YMMV though!

Brother, lets get a closer look at that mount. That is not sitting flush
