Not only did the gun grab cost excessively more than they claimed... they have effectively destroyed a multi-billion $ industry in Canada...

All for what? Oh right... Quebec Votes.

Don't forget to thank the people in this sub who still defend voting Liberal.

You don't see to many of them.

If anything, thank the people in this sub who voted PPC in the previous election - without splitting the right, we would have had a Conservative government in that session, and none of this shit would have happened.

Max Bernier did as much damage here as Trudeau.

They've gone quiet but during the Trudeau and even Harper years they did a lot of gaslighting that "no one is after your guns" and that actually Harper was antigun. I could name em but mods don't let us.

I remember being at a Halloween party like a year into Trudeaus first term and this chick laughing at me saying no one’s gonna take my guns. Needless to say she’s clueless and I don’t talk to her anymore lol

There are still a lot of people saying there's no guarantee Pierre would change anything to excuse voting for a government actively trying to take their guns.

Or perhaps lay the blame where it should sit. Pierre is incompatible with winning. The rhetoric he brings is simply incompatible with a majority of voters, to the point where NDP voters and others actually defers to the libs.

The conservative have the same issue the PQ has. The stronger they hold the more extreme positions to please the base, the further they get from winning the election.

There is no guarantee pp would change a thing.

Although I completely agree with you that PP has lost all touch with reality... the PPC split still caused that loss.

They had ZERO chance of winning... It wasn't about them winning, it was about PC's losing, and it worked.

The PPC has the most batshit crazy ideas.

So if someone goes to the extreme and steal your votes you either have the choice of doubling down and fight for those 10,000 votes while loosing 100,000's + center leaning voters or just walk away from the fringe and appeal the center. Guess who did that and won.

Funny thing too, is Maxime Bernier if you swap the B for D it means last :)

PP did the damage himself by not conserving anything - he didn't even win his own seat (and you can't blame the PPC for that because they didn't even have a candidate in that riding). He can't just agree with the liberals on every major issue except 2 and call himself conservative, then blame another party for having a better platform that's more appealing to informed voters lol. Carney just adopted the same moderate liberal policies and made Poilievre entirely irrelevant (and has now secured himself a majority government).

I vote for platforms, not colours, and PP's platform was liberal. Just look at all the aisle-crossers and try to tell me any of them were ever conservative in the first place.

(This is not to say that PPC is ideal, but they were a better conservative party than the current CPC which I desperately hope will get their act together soon).

That seat was lost in the election after the one I'm referring to. In the most recent election the PPC wasn't a factor. Not disagreeing that PP is shit, but my vote goes to the party that has the highest probability of letting me keep my guns. Simple as that.

Max wanted revenge against the conservatives, and he got that by splitting the vote. Never had a chance of winning let alone holding a seat.

So "conservative" gun owners that hate PP fell into PPC voters or abstained from voting at all and voila Trudeau was elected again, the rest is history.

We aren't a big enough community to throw our political voices away on fringe candidates because they didn't pander to some nonsense uber-right chemtrails kind of nonsense.

You don't see to many of them.

Because the groupthink in the sub is so toxic that there's no point in expressing viewpoints other than "liberals bad they tookma gunnnns hurrrrr" unless you want to be gratuitously insulted.

7

u/greendoh Apr 21 '26

I mean there is a reason for that... It's because the Liberals are bad and they took my guns.

Hurr..

Good job! You managed to express yourself without insulting anyone.

3

u/greendoh Apr 21 '26

Honestly - I don't see any point in insulting anyone anymore..

The whole concept of left vs right and the left being anti this / right being anti that - it's all a bullshit distraction designed to keep us away from the real problem with our world - greedy billionaires.

The left needs to be more pro-gun, especially marginalized groups like LGBTQ.

Personally the conservative party does not generally match my broad politics, but the party that wants to disarm me isn't my friend.

And no - Carney isn't going to force us into camps - but the government 4 terms down the line may.

I need to keep my guns so I can protect my family and friends - which includes a ton of LGBTQ folk.

Maybe Poilievre shouldn't have been sucking up to international students in Brampton if he wanted to win people back from the PPC.
