What is that? I've been in the infantry for a few years, never heard of that. I don't really like the C79 lol. Sounds like some kind of shooting team?

CAFSAC (Canadian Armed Forces Small Arms Concentration) is what replaced CFSAC (Canadian Forces Small Arms Competition) which were the military run competitions that spanned up to 2019 - they were shut down in 2020 due to COVID and haven't returned.

NSCC is the National Service Conditions Competition run by the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association - it was on hiatus as well after COVID, but returned last year in Borden instead of Connaught ranges.

Nope, not really 'flexing on the poors' - just making use of scopes that I bought back in the day on a rifle that I can still use today. My AR's have been in the safe for too damn long.

Easy-peazy. I've been using Elcans regularly since the 90's, and repair them in my day job from time to time, so yeah, good glass, and with the Gen 4 mount (spring holding the top and bottom halves together) they're quite reliable.

(Note - there are a lot of improvements from the Gen 1/2 to the current issue Gen 4 mounts - backlash spring tensioners, elevation drum changes, spring tensioner, metallurgical changes to components, etc, but I mention the spring as that's the 'easily' visible difference between the generations.)

Nice, looked big I was hoping someone figured out how to straighten the mags a bit internally to fit more rounds vs the big banana mags

can't really do that with rimfire

You can do that, look at the Remington 597 mags. The promags fit 22 rounds and are pretty straight, a lot straighter than the TM22 ones, but they stack and a half part of the way instead of being fully single stacked.

Bought them a lot of years ago - I was a fairly serious Service Rifle competitor - built my own dedicated .22 LR upper before that was a commercially available thing so I could practice on my own time at the local indoor range. Got me as high as being 2nd in Canada, so, I guess it served me well enough. Hate 'em if you will, but the glass is really good.

Nah, the quality of product at Tim's nowadays is less than desirable, but yes, snow on the ground would be proper.
