  • BC: 0.050
  • ON: 0.044
  • PEI: 0.027
  • MB: 0.026
  • NS: 0.023
  • AB: 0.022
  • QC: 0.020
  • YT: 0.017
  • NB: 0.016
  • NWT: 0.014
  • SK: 0.011
  • NL: 0.006
  • NU: 0.003

Wild how Alberta is higher than Quebec in submitting claims.

Maybe more restricted firearms in Alberta so using PAL holder skews it? Just a guess.

Either way anything other than 0 in Alberta disappoints me.

Part of it may be that there are more restricteds and the so-called "assault style" rifles in certain jurisdictions, but I don't know if we have that data.

I was hoping Albertans were really gonna give the feds the deerfoot salute on this one.

I'm in Ontario, my wife and sister in law both took the hunter safely course and rpal course on a weekend, neither are really interested in hunting but back when we had group applications for the moose draw it improved our group numbers. I'm sure it helps when I have to renew my rpal and my wife is also an rpal holder.

How embarrassing for BC. But to be fair, lots of people got their PALs after 2020. I know of at least 20 or more myself.

BC has a nearly 1:1 ratio of NR to R PAL holders, the total of RPALs is 175,000 as opposed to Ontario which has 247,000 but a much larger population. So more PAL holders in BC likely have restricted firearms and therefore the government already knows what you have as opposed to places like Quebec and Ontario where RPALs make up a much smaller percentage of the total PAL holders. That likely explains the higher uptick in BC alone.
