News / Politics / Activism FOC Gun Range press release
Cool looking facility but not the smartest photo. Let’s just have an 8 person chain flagging each others face 🤦♂️

u/MourningWood1942 Mar 31 '26
Flag the person to your left event
80
u/Matty_bunns Mar 31 '26
Oh man, I was just going to say that lol!
Call me old fashioned, I guess, but lasering your buddy, even in photo ops with empty chambers and the safety on etc, is a full on NOPE.

u/ComplexQuiet6790 Apr 05 '26
I'd have been more worried if it weren't AI slop. Now it just makes me sad
33
u/elo_itr Mar 31 '26
To the left, to the left. Everybody point their gun at the person on their left.

Well at least no actual people were involved in the making of this, so no one was really in danger.

u/Bobba_cs Mar 31 '26
These guys are charging almost $1400 for your first year of membership when target sports offers the exact same (minus the guest passes) for $700+ tax
28
u/KyllikkiSkjeggestad Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26
In Manitoba, you can get an MWF Family membership for 80 a year, and you get access to any of their facilities, and any facilities they’re partnered with. I couldn’t imagine spending 1400 a year for a range pass
You also get 10% off at Marks, and 25% off from the Rapala website with their membership, definitely worth 80 bucks lol

u/Longjumping_Rain_483 Mar 31 '26

Target sports doesn't have the guest passes anymore? They used to have that piece of paper with discounts and passes.
5
u/jmz-jmz Mar 31 '26
Pretty sure you get three free guest passes per year with the full membership and after that it’s like $35 per guest visit. Something like that anyway
2
u/ImprovementKnown2491 Mar 31 '26
I got 5 x as part of my 2025 target sports membership
1
u/jmz-jmz Mar 31 '26
Sounds about right
1
u/ImprovementKnown2491 Mar 31 '26
Yeah. And then it’s $20 for a guest after that I believe. I let my membership lapse because I want to try GSC.
2
u/tim1447 Mar 31 '26
Gsc is good, been a member only for a couple months but I’m really enjoying it, the staff are all great there
1
u/ImprovementKnown2491 Mar 31 '26
Awesome. Great to hear that. My experience at Target Sports this last year was solid also, nothing bad to say about it.
1
u/tim1447 Mar 31 '26
I’ve heard it gets stupid busy there on the weekends lol, same kinda for gsc but not crazy, you’ll find open lanes in the afternoon no problem on weekends, mornings you’re gonna have to book the week prior more likely… that’s what I do atleast unless I go during the week
1
u/Bobba_cs Mar 31 '26
Aw damn they got rid of that? Guess that’s one thing FOC has up on TS but that isn’t worth the extra $700 IMO
5
u/SadisticChipmunk Mar 31 '26
Triggers & Bows has 24/7 Keycard access, and is $500+hst a year for Membership.
Hell, you can get a full 4 person family package for $725+HST.
Only hangup with them is the caliber limitation.
6
u/Bobba_cs Mar 31 '26
If you don’t mind driving a little East Elgin Sportsman’s Association is only like $350 for the year. You get about $100 off if you do 8 hours of community service for the range. No calibre restrictions, 24/7, indoor and outdoor range. With the price of an FOC membership for 1 year you can get almost 5 years at EESA. LOL
2
u/tetraacetic Mar 31 '26
thanks for sharing, I will look into this club. close enough to GTA. I book lanes on weekdays as a non-member at Urban Tactical sometimes but would like to join a club for weekend access.
3
u/Bobba_cs Mar 31 '26
Literally what I used to do. Then I got a membership at target sports. Then I frequently got headaches from all the noise on busy days at target sports . Switched to EESA and never looked back. ONLY problem with EESA is that it’s about an hour and a half drive from the city but hey at least I can shoot gongs at 300 yards now 🤷🏻♂️
1
u/1anre Apr 01 '26
Never got stopped transporting to/from the range due to the distance you have to drive?

If they want $1400 a year that better include collecting all my brass and reloading for me 😂

Its AI slop lol.
18
u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26
What's funny is that a) FOC literally has a storefront so they can at least take real pictures there for the gun store portion and b) FOC admits that they have 2 full time media/photographers on payroll... Yet the best they could do is type in some AI prompts?
6
u/DethHed4Real Mar 31 '26
Ikr lol, ive been in their store front nice people but... the company I try to avoid dealing with (purchasing from etc etc)
35
u/Opening_Pizza Mar 31 '26
Their website has a hilarious AI video of their indoor range. I want to fire an AR indoors right in front of the face of the range officer like in the video please. Have him walk in front of the firing line as I do it. Guns with magazines in them in the lunch room, magic hologram pumpkins, pump actions that I don't need to pump, someone pouring hot coffee in my glass of red wine, Amazing.
15
u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Mar 31 '26
The video in question: https://video.wixstatic.com/video/e47061_e55fd1fcba694ab88e27b0940b2d69c6/480p/mp4/file.mp4
Warning: high grade AI slop inside. Click at your own risk. Sound ON.

u/alahos qb Mar 31 '26 edited Apr 01 '26
This is worse than anything I could have imagined, holy shit
Edit: Just rewatched it and my favorite part is when the server tops off the wine glass with coffee
2
u/Flashy_cartographer Apr 03 '26
I was reeling from all the full auto fire aimed across the range stalls, the lady who's gun kept shooting after she took her finger off the trigger, and the woman just walking around behind the front desk. Then the waiter topped off the wine with coffee and I shut down the video.
Who approves this horse shit?

I mean, FOC is best known for their credit card scams... So this tracks.

Thank you, someone posted it here too, i was worried about linking to the website (reddit mods and all) The comments are gold https://www.reddit.com/r/canadaguns/comments/1s8y14e/firearms_outlet_canadas_new_range_promotional/

But the rest of the video seemed chill if you weren't cherry picking

Despite what others say, the cc fraud issue remains a problem to this day. Not really sure how they remain in business.

"Hey, could you generate an image of a bunch of people smiling at a gun range flagging everyone to the left of them with wonk ass revolver looking firearms."
8
u/SwordJabbingAction Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26
Those are lever action revolving carbines, with a tube magazine to feed the revolving cylinder. Pretty standard stuff.
3
u/SirKickBan Apr 01 '26 edited Apr 01 '26
And gun lanes behind them that vary wildly in width and equipment for some reason
1
u/1anre Apr 01 '26
The fact that the ad included weapons that are mostly banned makes it hard for customers to belive this is a recent ad with context of the current affairs in the country.
14
u/dgod40 Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26
"Cool looking facility" I guarantee you the facility will look nothing like this. Its all AI generated.
https://www.focgunrange.com/private-events
LOL, what are the men holding? Did no one look at the site before putting it up?
The only other situation here is they subscribe to the idea of "There’s no such thing as bad publicity" and did this intentionally.
Edit: I found an image that didn't make the cut onto their website.

7
u/elo_itr Mar 31 '26
holy fuck, I browsed through the pages and there's so much AI slop. They probably hired some cheap marketing firm to build their site and nobody reviewed it.
1
u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Mar 31 '26
How did you even find that last image LMAO, or is that satire and poking fun of their credit card scam, I can't even tell lol
1
u/dgod40 Mar 31 '26
It's just poking fun. I'll be honest, I was so looking forward to this range. It's close by and I've bought stuff from the store many times and never had an issue. That's not to say, their handling of the cc issue wasn't horrible or that this disgusting use of AI isn't bad. And that pricing is out of this world. They are just hoping people are so starved to shoot guns that they will pay these prices.
13
u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Mar 31 '26
Don't worry about safety, you can attend their Pistol Safety Safety Course 101 to learn about flagging your RO!
...yup, that's how they advertise their "safety course". That's all you needed to know.
6

u/H0B013 Mar 31 '26
I can figure out barrel flagging the rso, but how do I learn that 2 dudes 1 glock technique?

What is it with gun organizations and the heavy use of AI slop?
1
u/1anre Apr 01 '26
Real people with stigmas and shy of showing they own guns to avoid public persecution. Similar to how this forum thrives cause it's all anonymous. The moment it goes to Facebook-style with real names and pictures, you'd see people duck right away.
9
u/Nearby-Pop-3565 Mar 31 '26
Don't forget that some shooting ranges have shut down recently.
Your 20k "lifetime" membership stops as soon as they shut down - look at JR Cox and The Shooting Edge and all the angry members who bought their annual membership a few months before they went bankrupt.
Any agreement can also be changed or canceled (look at American airlines lifetime first class pass).
You're taking one hell of a risk buying a lifetime membership.

insane. def could be AI if you look at the revolver resting on the guys shoulder. if the range actually posted this… it’s beyond insane. what kind of incompetence is going on over there in durham?!
18
u/ProtoJazz Mar 31 '26
I mean the biggest giveaway is the fact none of the stuff in the photos exists, not even the range
7
u/nzhockeyfan Mar 31 '26
You don't have a revolver with an 18 inch barrel?
6
u/FrankDodger Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26
Or a revolver with a lever?
Edit: apparently they exist. Color me actually unsurprised. That being said, this photo is still AI.
6
Mar 31 '26
have you seen the guns they are importing to canada lately with all the restrictions 🤣😅

$828 a year for the basic silver membership and that only grants you access Monday-Thursday?
What the actual fuck.

Our outdoor range in Pemberton, bc is amazing. We have a shotgun/skeet range, archery range, 100 yd tactical range, 300 yd rifle range and 700 yard long range. Membership is 250/year for a family membership and they cap members. Almost every single time I'm there no one else is there. It's literally a dream.

3
u/Trespassing-Owl Mar 31 '26
87 (1) Every person commits an offence who, without lawful excuse, points a firearm at another person, whether the firearm is loaded or unloaded.
5
u/Ashkore_The_Dragon Mar 31 '26
Their best way to advertise a new range and $20k membership is to showcase absolutely no safety standards. Their media people need to be fired.
5
u/Dumb_G_Artist Mar 31 '26
This is one thing that drives me nuts about the Canadian Gun scene, it's figure heads use AI and are typically Boomers/Gen X conservative who have lost touch on reality
2
u/1anre Apr 01 '26
The most sad part about the people leading the charge on gun identity and culture preservation here.
2
u/deepbluemeanies Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26
I think Gagnon is cheaper - and they don't encourage the pointing of firearms at fellow members.
I haven't been there for ages but it was a very nice facility when I visited a couple years ago.
2
u/Vast_Horizon47 Mar 31 '26
Too expensive. I’m not paying that much for a range.
I’ll continue to shoot on crown land for now

Immediately recognizable as AI slop. Good god they didn't even try.
Also if you look even remotely closely at the 'cool looking facility' it's clearly also AI with incorrect lane spacing etc.
Why would people support this?

u/presdint100 Mar 31 '26
“Without large upfront costs” I’m guessing they didn’t mention the 399 sign up fees

3/5 AI text detectors were 100% confident this was AI written, and the other two were ~60% confident.
And to my eye, it feels AI, from the em-dash to the "It's not just X, it's Y" structure.

You’d think a company that specializes in firearms would ensure trigger discipline for a photo op…
1
u/1anre Apr 01 '26
The photo OP could at least have used a professional photographer and a pro instructor to show highest safety standards.

Is this a real photo or April Fools?
Must be April Fools - a group of people all muzzle sweeping each other and smiling?

All the photos of people appear to be AI generated, hence the flagging and identical poses

I guess I’m a nerd (but not a fud). I used to work at target sports part time a while back, and have seen some shit. I guess makes me especially sensitive to this sort of thing. You also won’t catch me at an indoor range open to the general public pretty much ever again

Someone left a review on their Google reviews calling them out for their AI slop.
Plus, the $20 000 lifetime membership feels like a slap in the face
