News / Politics / Activism LGR 2.0?

Does anyone else starting to get the sneaking suspicion that this entire buyback scheme is a $1 billion dollar embezzlement plan to get tax payer funds into their friends hands? The website cost over 1 million to make and is barely functional. They’ve spent 800 million plus and haven’t even collected guns yet. They spent 22 million on the retailer portion and apparently have if them weren’t even paid.

Yall think they’ll back out last minute only because they got their fill of the billion? 👀

Just a thought.

They said they were going to do it so they are going to do it regardless of the will of the people because the Liberals don’t care. It’s about control and compliance not fairness and fiscal responsibility.

This kind of fraud has been standard practice for the Liberals. I’d honestly be surprised if they do literally anything that doesn’t have some aspect of filling their, or their friends, pockets. I’m very serious.

They've been caught in countless ethics violations, and the end result is always less than "pay back every cent", so why would they stop?

Nah its really just about disarming the population

Why not profit as well?

Of course it is. The liberal way.

Because Con politicians would never redirect government money to their friends, right? This sort of corruption is a class issue, not a partisan issue

This isn’t a “what about” discussion. Con politicians aren’t the ones in power, the liberals are and have been for a very long time.

We should be punishing those who do regardless of political party.

True but in recent times it's only been done by liberals and at new-generation scale. Yeah sure if a conservative party won there would still be some questionable spending (size) but we haven't seen that so...

Just because the cons would do it too (theoretically) doesn't mean liberals are justified in doing it now.

If you mean federally, of course it's only been Liberals recently, they're the only ones to have formed government. Though Harper's spending on the 2010 G8/20 summit comes to mind as a spectacularly wasteful use of the public purse. Regardless, my point is that it's not justifiable regardless of what colour tie they wear, the majority of both flavours come from the same socioeconomic class. Just like gun ownership in general, framing it as a partisan issue helps nobody

Seems to me liberals love destroying the current fabric of society for virtuous future progressiveness. Banning guns and wasting a billy along the way is one of the most tone deaf things a government can do. Do they read history books?

Idk, I am biased but at least if the Cons waste money it's in my chosen flavour.

Exactly. The folks pushing privatization would never ever give government jobs and funding to their buddies in the private sector in exchange for campaign donations or cushy jobs on committees once they're out of office.

That's a libs only game!

Most privately owned media in Canada is right leaning, publicly funded tends to be left leaning. Depending on what you watch changes the news you see.

Not even a liberal voter lmao. If you think corruption is limited to only capitalists with red ties, I don't even know what to tell you

Debating an imaginary opponent?

wtf is this argument? Nowhere did he argue that voting lib would give you your guns back. It’s not even related to his argument that corruption happens on both sides of the aisle.

I just put it down to incompetence, which the liberal party excels at

3

u/Jaded-Juggernaut-244 Mar 26 '26

If only it were incompetence and not the deliberate reality we're all facing. I truly wish it was because they're a bunch of dumbasses, because the alternative...the reality is far darker.

This is not a boondoggle. It is 100% by design.

2

u/boozefiend3000 Mar 26 '26

It’s by design, but they’re absolutely useless trying to implement it

None of the so called failed policies of the last 10 years were incompetence. That is too naive. There’s a reason they kept these policies in place for so long. Whether it be unchecked immigration, the TFW program, LMIAs, fraudulent international students, the gun buyback, bail reform, printing boatloads of money, etc. These policies were put into place for specific reasons by rich lobbyists. On the surface they seemed good but they are a better example of how the road to hell is paved with good intentions. These policies were specifically put into place to destroy the spending power of the middle class, suppress wages, attempt to consolidate power via monopolizing violence, and stay in power by importing votes. All while, the big banks, loblaws, and telecom giants got even richer and called anybody who obliged a racist.

Nowadays, the average boomer thinks things will get better because that is what the media tells them and Carney appears like he’s doing good, but I guarantee that he will reverse course in a year or two and do exactly what the Trudeau government was doing and worse considering all the MPs are the same. Never ever trust a central banker.

imagine they put that into law enforcement and security

u/Content_Sky_2676 Mar 25 '26

A good portion of their voters would be quite negatively affected by that...

11

u/jimmythemortician Mar 25 '26

Dude. The sole purpose of every single liberal program is to funnel money to themselves. How sheltered do you have to be to not know this?

9

u/throwaway11100217 Mar 24 '26

You mean like ArriveCAN the app that a couple of university students could have whipped up for an end of year project that costed us $60 million plus? Both sides of the coin are guilty of this, only difference is the liberals spin it as some public service that will benefit everyone, and the naive people with bleeding hearts eat it up.

5

u/outline8668 Mar 25 '26

Yep and if anyone is ever curious just go look up how many people have been jailed or at least forced to pay back the money grifted from ArriveSCAM.

I'll save you the time the answer is zero.

u/thealmightybees Mar 24 '26

Weird how history repeats itself..

5

u/Spyrothedragon9972 Mar 24 '26

Why else would you waste taxpayer funds on a nationwide program that helps... exactly zero people in the Canadian public?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '26

You're 5-6 years late to the party with that thought.

1

u/BilboBaggSkin Mar 25 '26

We already have a registry. They just require the retailers to do it now.

1

u/coffeeofwar Mar 25 '26

There no way it hasn't been watch the buy back will fail or stumble they will do a cabinet shuffle agian and everyone who was involved will walk Scott free and way ritcher for it

1

u/CanadianGunNoob Mar 27 '26

Isn't that what most government projects are?
