First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

I do think they will eventually ban or grandfather the Sks, especially now that they have their majority, but as far as manual action guns go I think they will be fine.

First off, grandfathering is a HUGE trap (because you have to register and they can rug pull it later) plus it won't be with use. They've been working their way through the catalog, there's no indication they'll stop, why do you think they'd stop at manual action? They don't need science or data, they just have keep the wedge running.

We said the same thing about other semis.

We said the same thing about pccs

We said the same thing about non-AR15s (Bren etc)

We said the same thing about hand guns

We said the same thing about AR15s

They've been shifting the goal post constantly. Don't think it stops here.

Without simplified classification and a new government, they'll keep picking away at it otherwise they'd be admitting they've been burning tax money for their own means.

You don't need to hunt

You don't need a repeating weapon to hunt

You don't need a semi-automatic weapon to hunt

Some of us will see the top of this escalation ladder in our lifetimes. We'll be another rung up (you don't need any semi-auto) likely before the end of the year, when we start hearing more about Tumbler Ridge.

Tumbler Ridge is getting memory holed to a point they might not see it. Also side note. It’s funny how a Fudd organization like OFAH literally has said any firearm that is not a full auto is suitable for hunting. The literal fudd org who exists for hunting and fishing purposes.
