Fix my gun SKS side rail with Hush stock

Wondering if anyone has attempted to/successfully installed a combloc side rail (molot or similar) on their SKS in a Hush Holster stock? How much did the stock need to be filed down, if at all?

I plan to, but haven't found a rail that I like yet. Do you have one in mind?

Nothing really specific in mind yet, just doing research to figure out the best option(s).

I'd like to end up with something authentic combloc, probably something from https://eastwave.ca/products/reddot.html

As far as I can tell this is a standard molot mount: https://eastwave.ca/products/scopes/sksrail.html

ive messaged these guys many times and never gotten a reply. id honestly consider just getting the mastermount, from tac imports.

That's too bad. I guess the war has probably disrupted their logistics etc. Ideally I'd like a combloc optic as well, and while there are some weaver/1913 optics they aren't exactly what I'm looking for.

im not even sure they're in business tbh, but you could always try giving them a call. ive looked into this quite a bit, and nobody has the proper rail other then sites in russia.

IMO you want to try to get your hands on the "EST SKS-K steel low dovetail base" but good luck sourcing them. ivan bear/tactical has them listed on their site. but when I contacted them years ago about is they no longer work with EST so i dunno.

anyways to get something proper you have to find it in russia, pay for it in bitcoin and hope it shows up here. which took me 6 months, OR you can try the mastermount approach but that might be weird on the sks with wooden stock. I understand the look you're going for. I tried to do the same thing. but because russia sucks ass, we cant get imports anymore, so your options are super limited unless you make something yourself.

For the actual mounting mechanism (dovetail) there are a few options available to reproduce from but for a mount that would allow AK optics to be mounted on an SKS in the hush stock you'd need to measure and fab from scratch to get the height and centering correct.

For example, here are two 'low' dovetail mounts that appear to have similar overall specs/geometry.

Ivan Tactical lists the mount, but will never restock it. I asked many years ago. The SKS-K high dovetail base is the one we need for best function on our rifles.

yes, you'll need to get a low profile side mount with that. because if you use a standard ak mount it would be to high off your gun.

Thanks for pointing me in this direction. Given this new info the easiest mount is the high dovetail since it gets drilled/tapped directly into the receiver with no need to drill into the stock thus no need to consider the geometry of the hush stock. But this mount is generally only compatible with scopes purpose built for it, which are entirely (?) zoom optics, I have yet to find a red dot or similar.

Master mount is for an AK. Is the rail going to properly align with the center of an SKS?

no, but it is the only dovetail mount you can get easily your hands on. and unless you can get your hands on basically unobtainium, you'll have to mcguyver some BS solution together.

Westrifle ( based in Canada ) sells a side rail very similar to the MOLOT model. They want quite a bit for it tho.

For what it's worth the Crazy Ivan mount clears without modifications. Might be able to compare pictures and get an idea.

I was looking for something similar a while ago but couldn't find much, certainly not in stock and in Canada. I don't know how well they ship to Canada if at all but aside from the Ivan tactical one you've posted that's about all I've found.
