News / Politics / Activism "assault style" and "extended mag"
Looks cute, I'm not sure I'd want to "assault" anything with it though.

Awesome, so there goes the Derya. Pure idiocy. I’m sure the Horse Police are also helping spin the narrative on said grouse gun

At this point we can expect anything in a semi automatic with a detachable magazine will be banned by the end of the year.
Doesn't matter how it performs, just how it looks, right? But what was she wearing?

Reminds me of the time when they called gsg16 a machine gun or sth, then the ban hammer dropped few days later…
19
u/Metalock Feb 26 '26
Not sure if it was the same article, but I remember seeing a GSG-16 called an MP5 once. Like, not a "MP5 clone/variant/style" they straight up said they "seized an MP5 submachine gun"

u/GinnAdvent Feb 26 '26
To be fair, GSG 16 has always been on the crosshair. Not sure how SW MP15 got banned when GSG 16 is A ok.
And yes, drum mag is a thing and it's totally ok with the Firearm act prior to the ban.
But there is literally no logic when it comes to Liberal gun control. Lol

u/GabRB26DETT Feb 26 '26
The GSG's Ukraine didn't want because they're in fact, not machine-guns lmao

If the tm22 cadet with the stock removed was used would it still be an assault weapon? Same thing just made out of polymer and doesn't look like a tactical rifle.
Also if you're going to have an illegal gun why a tm22? The only reason we have these is because nothing else is available but if you're not doing it the legal why then why this gun.
Tm22 draco is funny to look at tho.

I know several people who would see this photo on Facebook and immediately post about how Canadians are walking around with automatic assault rifles capable of mass murder.

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Feb 26 '26
Charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm? So does that mean he's unlicensed?
16
u/GinnAdvent Feb 26 '26
I think people tend to glazed over this fact.
He probably doesn't have a PAL if it's unauthorized possession.
So it's more than likely a straw purchase or stolen at some point.

u/AHangryBeaver Feb 26 '26
Could have a PAL but with the stock removed is within “Restricted” length and therefore doesn’t have an RPAL.
Either way, some dumb fucking hoodrat make a bad name for everyone else

This was likely a legally purchased gun at some point, and has a transfer number tied to the serial. So if the guy busted wasn't a licensed holder, they will atleast find the idiot that sold it to them. Sux cuz I just ordered the adler sbr that i may never get to use ( which was shipped a thousand miles away from it's destination, thanks canada post you do such a great job, cough cough).

You don’t put in any serial numbers when you do the license verification.

Non-Restricted Firearms (Rifles and Shotguns): The Store's Records: Under Bill C-71, retailers are legally required to keep a record of the transfer reference number and the firearm's serial number, make, and model for at least 20 years.

Transfer #s aren't actually associated with the serial #s of guns, and if the gun was purchased privately, there's not really an easy way to trace that gun back to a legal owner.

Non-Restricted Firearms (Rifles and Shotguns):
The Store's Records: Under Bill C-71, retailers are legally required to keep a record of the transfer reference number and the firearm's serial number, make, and model for at least 20 years. Back door gun registry, they can look up the serial ifs its not striped off. It will be tied to a transfer number issued by the rcmp and the pal holder and the store that initiated the transfer. It's not a gun registry "per say" but anything sold after 2024 they know where to find it.

u/Scott-YYC Feb 27 '26
As someone who worked at a gun store I can confirm you are correct, but it doesn't change the fact that serial #s are not shared with the CFO, and with private sales, it's almost a non-starter.

u/HapGil Feb 27 '26
The law states that any firearm store that closes must transmit those records to the CFP. It also states that a warrant is required for police to access a store's record. How long after the pretense of "buyback" is ended and they start demanding confiscation without compensation do you think it's going to take for that warrant to be issued nation wide and all firearm stores must transmit their records to whatever brownshirt bullies they've hired to kick in your doors?
There is specific information that stores are required to keep, it won't take a lot for that to get imported into a DB and create a list of doors to be kicked. A few parameters and an OCR reader and they can get AI to start chugging away on any paper records, electronic format will take 1 person and a couple of import rules to align columns.
They also have the complete long gun registry (fuck you RCMP and Quebec) to add even more doors to kick.

Runkle has covered this, they know where guns r going now if they want to find out.

I had a feeling the tm22 would not last long. This article confirms my suspicion and looks like i should be in the market for one
Seen them on g4c in stock 16"

u/CurlyWurly61 Feb 26 '26
Hold up... with no buffer tube how was bro firing this
1
u/JaxIsLoud Feb 27 '26
Pretty sure the buffer tube does nothing. I have one of these and I'm pretty sure you just have to plug the hole.

Yep. This will sure bring tm22 on the ban list this time.
I hope they start dump selling these. I’ll still buy.

Crazy.. it was only a matter of time. Only takes 1 loser to ruin it for everyone else.

I am not sure if it's surprising for anyone. But I have a feeling all the semi auto will be banned to being assault style. I am just surprised they didn't OIC Dreya when GSG 16 got ban hammered.
That's why when my friend ask me what 22lr to buy, I said you can get a 10/22 from Ruger. But if you absolutely don't want to have a safe queen, go with a bolt action 22lr in current political climate, and then get semi auto after we got a Conservative government.
That being said, if they can say the likes of SVT40 being assault style firearms when they look nothing like a Bren 2 and more resemblance to a Mosin, is there a clear definition anymore?
1
u/Focus_Visible Feb 26 '26
It is my understanding that poly is going after anything magazine fed (tube fed as well). No matter if its a 10 shot 22 or a 3 shot 308. They want no guns but will suffice with single shot bolt guns and double barrel shot guns for hunting purposes.
1
u/GinnAdvent Feb 27 '26
Them wanting no gun is like dropping a needle in the ocean and expect to find it after an hour.
I have seen some people being very quick with break action, and also very fast with single shot. Then what will be the narrative by then?
There were even report of people train themselves several weeks prior to commit mass stabbing in Asia. So they can cause maximum damage. I guess they can't sell any knife unless it's a full butter knife then.

It's not like its going to happen over night, not in a few years, but over a generation or two. We are not geting hand guns back. Years from now when the last owner dies, that will be it. They will pursue the same path for rifles. We will see some caps on new ownership just like Australia just past. Existing owners will be grandfathered as a mass confiscation of multiples of millions of guns is impossible. So they will wait till we are dead just like the hand gun owners. And by then the types of rifles available for sport will be extremely restricted. I imagine a system where guns have to be kept at police stations or gun clubs like other countries do. There's a high probability that we will never see a conservative majority government ever again. They assuredly wont back track on laws passed. Even if they did provinces, municipalities, cities etc can put there own bans in place. The old world is over, mass control and compliance is the future for Canada, Britain, Europe etc. We've simply grown accustomed to too much freedom, they will reel that in for us.

Well, this is why I am glad I have a collection of SKS, and T81s, plus bunch of 223s on standby.
I spend $150k on firearms for the long game baby, lol.

u/Eisenbahn-de-order Feb 26 '26
Assault yo ass 🙄 the cops should only be allowed to use assault style weapons, ie gsg16 and tm22 SBR.
1
u/burgers1919 Feb 27 '26
What is their name? Was this purchased legally?
1
u/JaxIsLoud Feb 27 '26
A tm22 with the buffer tube removed. Yea this one's gonna be a legal purchase.
1
u/burgers1919 Feb 27 '26
Exactly! Hopefully we don't all get to share the punishment for this dummy too. But knowing Canada this guy has prob done this 3x already and will be out on bail tomorrow.

Anyone else see something like this and think maybe the RCMP just removed the stock to make a headline out of it because that’s the best way to demonize an innocuous item

Genuinely why does the mag look like that though? It doesn't look the same as a standard 25 rd mag by derya. Looks homemade or even ai generated.
1
u/CurlyWurly61 Feb 27 '26
That is there metal version. I am not sure how he got his hands on one though. If I recall correctly, its more of a USA type thing where they have metal rather than polymer
