Looks cute, I'm not sure I'd want to "assault" anything with it though.

Fuck me, just bought one last month. I'm hoping they don't ban it because the "buyback" declaration deadline is so soon

Just got my pal last month, just before tumbler ridge, rough timing to buy my first guns. As long as they don't come for my sks...

14

u/Focus_Visible Feb 26 '26

It won't be on the buy back just prohibited, so you just have to destroy it and no you dont not need to provide proof of destruction. But be sure to not have it if they ever come looking.

3

u/Luciferwannab Feb 27 '26

Time to go boating

5

u/Possible_Jellyfish69 Feb 26 '26

I hope not. I'm a lawyer so I can't risk getting charges if it does get prohibited. Rip

13

u/Reasonable_Hall2346 Feb 26 '26

Time to pivot your career to a firearms lawyer :). But i doubt this would be a reason to ban it. They need to throw the book at who ever gave them that firearm (assuming it wasnt stolen).

7

u/Possible_Jellyfish69 Feb 26 '26

You may be right. Lots of dooming going on, but hard to blame people for worrying after the previous bans. They should absolutely throw the book at him - I hate that law abiding gun owners get punished for the acts of criminals

3

u/Focus_Visible Feb 26 '26

All you would have to do is destroy it. You can even send a letter saying such. But you do not need to provide proof. If it happens do this, its away to piss them off and hamper their disarming efforts. They want to account for these guns. They want the headlines, 1 million guns turned in. See everybody its worked. They can't if they physically dont have them and the possibility of them still be out there angers them. But of course they wouldn't be because you are a law abiding citizen and would destroy it.

0

u/Reasonable_Hall2346 Feb 26 '26

Just note that if you report it destroyed they record the serial number. If later bans are lifted by some magical being, and you lied (it’s a crime) about the destruction you still cant use it without risking charges. Only destroy on October 31.

0

u/Focus_Visible Feb 26 '26

Yes this is the way, im not advocating for any one to hide there guns. But do not turn them over. If its a super expensive ar build I get it, get some money if you can. If its a banned non restricted that wasn't that pricey, or is just now a prohib with no money being offered just destroy your self.

0

u/BilboBaggSkin Feb 27 '26

ARs you just need to destroy the upper and the lower.

-10

u/krayzai Feb 26 '26

Isn’t it easier just to turn it in and have them do the destruction work? Sounds like a hassle.

13

u/satansnacks Feb 26 '26

Isnt it easier to bend over a table and capitulate?

Sure is Just dont know why you'd wanna do that

-6

u/krayzai Feb 26 '26

I just mean like if it has to be done anyway, and one wants to be in compliance, why be forced to do the work when you can force them to do it.

5

u/burgers1919 Feb 27 '26

Bro are u just rage farming?

0

u/krayzai Feb 27 '26 edited Feb 27 '26

No…. I just don’t see the reason why if it’s gonna be destroyed anyway, that I would be the one to do it when I didn’t ask for this to begin with. They wasted millions on the program. Plus, once I disable it/make it inert, I can’t really do anything with it.

3

u/burgers1919 Feb 27 '26

But do u not pay taxes? U do realize you are paying them to destroy your stuff and then will bolster their numbers when they brag about what they did to you.

We pay for literally everything they do - why pay them to rail you when they didn't even buy you dinner first?

1

u/krayzai Feb 27 '26

I just don’t wanna get in trouble 🤷‍♂️ there are people that depend on me. Technically they also co-paid half of my public service pension plan contributions to date. About 75,000 of the 150,000. But this isn’t really about that. Whether they took me for dinner or not… I can’t afford to get into trouble man. And if I have a record I’d get released from the reserves too.

1

u/satansnacks Feb 26 '26

Because theyd do the work anyway and it contributes to the amount of guns they can say theyve retrieved and "gotten off the streets" contributing to them being able to say "we did what we promised and the program is a success"

I do get where youre coming from though. I just think if enough people go the alternate route and declare their stuff destroyed itll annoy them more, and spite is a helluva drug.

2

u/Focus_Visible Feb 26 '26 edited Feb 26 '26

This, do not give them the satisfaction, nor fuel for their fires. Or the ability to say it worked so well we will ban even more and every one will comply because they did the last time.

1

u/krayzai Feb 27 '26

I did not think about this angle of it

2

u/Focus_Visible Feb 26 '26

Hacksaw and a hammer and 5 minutes of your time. Plus a middle finger to our wonderful overlords.

1

u/krayzai Feb 27 '26

IVe never decommissioned before. Other than plugging what else needs to be done

1

u/Focus_Visible Feb 27 '26

There is decommissioned and destroyed. The first has to be done professionally and approved by the rcmp. Destruction is as you think, cut it in to multiple pieces, smash the piss out of it with a sledgehammer. Make it so that in no way could working parts be put back or things welded back together. Then you can lay it out in a shadow box and hang it on your wall as an ode to tyranny. With a decommissioned one though there is a secondary market for reselling. As time passes, a gun that once sold for a thousand or more may be worth the same even though is basically a wall hanger.

1

u/krayzai Feb 27 '26

So the directive is decommission or destroy?

1

u/Focus_Visible Feb 27 '26

Or if its on the buy back list and was expensive and you need the money, turn it in. Can't fault someone for that. People need money in this bankrupt Country. But if your not going to get anything for it, to hell with good old gov.

1

u/krayzai Feb 27 '26

I feel like it’d be better if they offered a buyback for everything, unless they need to be able to have some direct reference for fair market value.

I didn’t get the last part. What did you mean by “But if my not going to get anything for it”?

Like im at the point of wondering when my assault style air soft will be band so i wouldn't be surprised if new models are added late in the game.

1

u/AcanthisittaNo7338 Feb 28 '26

Why, planning on complying?

3

u/Cope180-Enjoyer Feb 27 '26

Who cares? The social contract is gone. There isn't even a goal post at this point. Since no new tech has come out gun laws shouldn't have changed after the '90s.

2

u/AceArchangel Feb 27 '26

Soon enough they will be coming after anything that fires a projectile...

63

u/Who_Am_AI_YouTube Feb 26 '26 edited Feb 26 '26

Awesome, so there goes the Derya. Pure idiocy. I’m sure the Horse Police are also helping spin the narrative on said grouse gun

52

u/VanillaHighlights Feb 26 '26

At this point we can expect anything in a semi automatic with a detachable magazine will be banned by the end of the year.

Doesn't matter how it performs, just how it looks, right?  But what was she wearing?

2

u/DryF1re Feb 28 '26

why stop at detachable mag?

57

u/blueline731 Feb 26 '26

Take your TM22 out soon boys, this article marks the beginning of the end.

56

u/Mother_Hunter_0711 Feb 26 '26

Reminds me of the time when they called gsg16 a machine gun or sth, then the ban hammer dropped few days later…

19

u/Metalock Feb 26 '26

Not sure if it was the same article, but I remember seeing a GSG-16 called an MP5 once. Like, not a "MP5 clone/variant/style" they straight up said they "seized an MP5 submachine gun"

9

u/GinnAdvent Feb 26 '26

To be fair, GSG 16 has always been on the crosshair. Not sure how SW MP15 got banned when GSG 16 is A ok.

And yes, drum mag is a thing and it's totally ok with the Firearm act prior to the ban.

But there is literally no logic when it comes to Liberal gun control. Lol

13

u/GabRB26DETT Feb 26 '26

The GSG's Ukraine didn't want because they're in fact, not machine-guns lmao

5

u/pineapplecom Feb 27 '26

The GSG16 is still legal in New Zealand for gods sake.

21

u/Sceptical7 Feb 26 '26

If the tm22 cadet with the stock removed was used would it still be an assault weapon? Same thing just made out of polymer and doesn't look like a tactical rifle.

Also if you're going to have an illegal gun why a tm22? The only reason we have these is because nothing else is available but if you're not doing it the legal why then why this gun.

Tm22 draco is funny to look at tho.

23

u/DrZoidburger89 Feb 26 '26

I know several people who would see this photo on Facebook and immediately post about how Canadians are walking around with automatic assault rifles capable of mass murder.

15

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Feb 26 '26

Charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm? So does that mean he's unlicensed?

16

u/GinnAdvent Feb 26 '26

I think people tend to glazed over this fact.

He probably doesn't have a PAL if it's unauthorized possession.

So it's more than likely a straw purchase or stolen at some point.

3

u/Disclosjer Feb 26 '26

Could also be a previously revoked or expired PAL.

5

u/GinnAdvent Feb 26 '26

That could be true as well.

2

u/AHangryBeaver Feb 26 '26

Could have a PAL but with the stock removed is within “Restricted” length and therefore doesn’t have an RPAL.

Either way, some dumb fucking hoodrat make a bad name for everyone else

8

u/Focus_Visible Feb 26 '26 edited Feb 26 '26

This was likely a legally purchased gun at some point, and has a transfer number tied to the serial. So if the guy busted wasn't a licensed holder, they will atleast find the idiot that sold it to them. Sux cuz I just ordered the adler sbr that i may never get to use ( which was shipped a thousand miles away from it's destination, thanks canada post you do such a great job, cough cough).

8

u/Flashy_Inspector115 Feb 26 '26 edited Feb 26 '26

This reply needs abit more periods. Very hard read

Edit: I appreciate your edits

3

u/BilboBaggSkin Feb 27 '26

You don’t put in any serial numbers when you do the license verification.

1

u/Focus_Visible Feb 27 '26

Non-Restricted Firearms (Rifles and Shotguns): The Store's Records: Under Bill C-71, retailers are legally required to keep a record of the transfer reference number and the firearm's serial number, make, and model for at least 20 years.

1

u/Focus_Visible Feb 27 '26

It's a back door gun registry

0

u/Scott-YYC Feb 26 '26

Transfer #s aren't actually associated with the serial #s of guns, and if the gun was purchased privately, there's not really an easy way to trace that gun back to a legal owner.

0

u/Focus_Visible Feb 27 '26

Non-Restricted Firearms (Rifles and Shotguns):

The Store's Records: Under Bill C-71, retailers are legally required to keep a record of the transfer reference number and the firearm's serial number, make, and model for at least 20 years. Back door gun registry, they can look up the serial ifs its not striped off. It will be tied to a transfer number issued by the rcmp and the pal holder and the store that initiated the transfer. It's not a gun registry "per say" but anything sold after 2024 they know where to find it.

3

u/Scott-YYC Feb 27 '26

As someone who worked at a gun store I can confirm you are correct, but it doesn't change the fact that serial #s are not shared with the CFO, and with private sales, it's almost a non-starter.

1

u/HapGil Feb 27 '26

The law states that any firearm store that closes must transmit those records to the CFP. It also states that a warrant is required for police to access a store's record. How long after the pretense of "buyback" is ended and they start demanding confiscation without compensation do you think it's going to take for that warrant to be issued nation wide and all firearm stores must transmit their records to whatever brownshirt bullies they've hired to kick in your doors?

There is specific information that stores are required to keep, it won't take a lot for that to get imported into a DB and create a list of doors to be kicked. A few parameters and an OCR reader and they can get AI to start chugging away on any paper records, electronic format will take 1 person and a couple of import rules to align columns.

They also have the complete long gun registry (fuck you RCMP and Quebec) to add even more doors to kick.

1

u/Focus_Visible Feb 27 '26

Runkle has covered this, they know where guns r going now if they want to find out.

1

u/HapGil Feb 27 '26

2021 is when they started the back door registry.

6

u/SneakerReviewZ Feb 26 '26

Assault style squirrel Beamer

8

u/M3NUTN Feb 26 '26

Police couldn't have lined the bullets up in a more clean line? Sloppy.

14

u/Ov3rReadKn1ght0wl Feb 26 '26

Farewell TM22. It was fun.

1

u/Longjumping_Rain_483 Mar 03 '26

I was planning on getting this when I get my PAL in the mail soon, I guess I should chalk that idea now? 😅

5

u/lee--carvallo Feb 26 '26

Who's he assaulting, squirrels?

3

u/EggplantOdd4307 Feb 26 '26

I had a feeling the tm22 would not last long. This article confirms my suspicion and looks like i should be in the market for one

Seen them on g4c in stock 16"

3

u/CurlyWurly61 Feb 26 '26

No buttstock makes it look worse tbh

1

u/CurlyWurly61 Feb 26 '26

Hold up... with no buffer tube how was bro firing this

1

u/JaxIsLoud Feb 27 '26

Pretty sure the buffer tube does nothing. I have one of these and I'm pretty sure you just have to plug the hole.

3

u/s2kd Feb 26 '26

I have this in blue so its less assaulty looking

5

u/AssMilkerTv Feb 26 '26

Always the idiots with no PAL ruining it for the rest of us

2

u/KalashnikovParty Feb 27 '26

well there goes the only tactical cope we have

2

u/Whispersfine Feb 27 '26

Yep. This will sure bring tm22 on the ban list this time.

I hope they start dump selling these. I’ll still buy.

2

u/CanadianAbroad7 Feb 27 '26

I swear to god if they take my tm22….

2

u/FlySpecial6091 Feb 27 '26

Crazy.. it was only a matter of time. Only takes 1 loser to ruin it for everyone else.

4

u/GinnAdvent Feb 26 '26

I am not sure if it's surprising for anyone. But I have a feeling all the semi auto will be banned to being assault style. I am just surprised they didn't OIC Dreya when GSG 16 got ban hammered.

That's why when my friend ask me what 22lr to buy, I said you can get a 10/22 from Ruger. But if you absolutely don't want to have a safe queen, go with a bolt action 22lr in current political climate, and then get semi auto after we got a Conservative government.

That being said, if they can say the likes of SVT40 being assault style firearms when they look nothing like a Bren 2 and more resemblance to a Mosin, is there a clear definition anymore?

1

u/Focus_Visible Feb 26 '26

It is my understanding that poly is going after anything magazine fed (tube fed as well). No matter if its a 10 shot 22 or a 3 shot 308. They want no guns but will suffice with single shot bolt guns and double barrel shot guns for hunting purposes.

1

u/GinnAdvent Feb 27 '26

Them wanting no gun is like dropping a needle in the ocean and expect to find it after an hour.

I have seen some people being very quick with break action, and also very fast with single shot. Then what will be the narrative by then?

There were even report of people train themselves several weeks prior to commit mass stabbing in Asia. So they can cause maximum damage. I guess they can't sell any knife unless it's a full butter knife then.

2

u/Focus_Visible Feb 27 '26

It's not like its going to happen over night, not in a few years, but over a generation or two. We are not geting hand guns back. Years from now when the last owner dies, that will be it. They will pursue the same path for rifles. We will see some caps on new ownership just like Australia just past. Existing owners will be grandfathered as a mass confiscation of multiples of millions of guns is impossible. So they will wait till we are dead just like the hand gun owners. And by then the types of rifles available for sport will be extremely restricted. I imagine a system where guns have to be kept at police stations or gun clubs like other countries do. There's a high probability that we will never see a conservative majority government ever again. They assuredly wont back track on laws passed. Even if they did provinces, municipalities, cities etc can put there own bans in place. The old world is over, mass control and compliance is the future for Canada, Britain, Europe etc. We've simply grown accustomed to too much freedom, they will reel that in for us.

4

u/GinnAdvent Feb 27 '26

Well, this is why I am glad I have a collection of SKS, and T81s, plus bunch of 223s on standby.

I spend $150k on firearms for the long game baby, lol.

2

u/Eisenbahn-de-order Feb 26 '26

Assault yo ass 🙄 the cops should only be allowed to use assault style weapons, ie gsg16 and tm22 SBR.

1

u/burgers1919 Feb 27 '26

What is their name? Was this purchased legally?

1

u/JaxIsLoud Feb 27 '26

A tm22 with the buffer tube removed. Yea this one's gonna be a legal purchase.

1

u/burgers1919 Feb 27 '26

Exactly! Hopefully we don't all get to share the punishment for this dummy too. But knowing Canada this guy has prob done this 3x already and will be out on bail tomorrow.

1

u/jinguslovesmeth Feb 27 '26

By 2030 they’ll classify muskets as assault sniper nuke rifles

1

u/Phsy248 Feb 27 '26

Non restrid ted they dont know about them so stay quiet!!

1

u/hendochini Feb 27 '26

Looking real professional laying out confiscated guns on ripped off paper towel. Way to go Canadian police!

I hate that average Canadians are going to see this and go "WOW! Look at that ASsaUlT RifLe15!!!"

1

u/TheGreenBastich Mar 01 '26

2 days later, they post on X about not participating. Douches...🤦‍♂️

1

u/CheesecakeEasy8952 Mar 01 '26

The Lady that Dances on Graves missed this one!

1

u/Hrafn-Freyrson boojahideen Mar 02 '26

Anyone else see something like this and think maybe the RCMP just removed the stock to make a headline out of it because that’s the best way to demonize an innocuous item

1

u/mangobludden Feb 26 '26

sonsquito im crine

0

u/PlzNoPolitic Feb 27 '26

Genuinely why does the mag look like that though? It doesn't look the same as a standard 25 rd mag by derya. Looks homemade or even ai generated.

1

u/CurlyWurly61 Feb 27 '26

That is there metal version. I am not sure how he got his hands on one though. If I recall correctly, its more of a USA type thing where they have metal rather than polymer

-2

u/Radio-Lonely Feb 27 '26

Lol wtf looks like a handgun with a long barrel lol
