I just hope that if PP wins a majority in the next election he does something in his promised re-write of the Firearms Act that would make it impossible to change because I guarantee you that people will get sick of him and the LPC will again run on banning everything they possibly can to gain brownie points with a naive public.

I don't know much about constitutional law, but he needs to do something like entrench private property rights and/or let the provinces set their own gun laws or we're going to go through this all again. Gun owners have been the LPC's whipping boys as far back as I can remember (and I'm old) and they certainly aren't about to give that "milch cow" up.

He needs to give full control over guns to the provinces. Its obviously not the perfect solution depending which province a person lives. However, I can see a future where this is the case and it is far easier to achieve than trying to get a unified national policy. There is simply too much division in the country. It will always be an urban vs rural, west vs east and quebec vs the rest. Any combination of these guarantee there will never be national unity on this. Quite frankly, the less ability quebec has to dictate how the rest of the country lives in all matters, the longer this country might survive.

Those two provinces should be able make thier own choices WITHOUT it impacting me on the other side of the country.

Currently they are central to where the libs get the majority of support for things like the oic, handgun freeze and now dead amendments. Why should my access to and responsible usage of firearms be hindered because some in ontario and quebec dont like them?

This pipe dream of a singular national policy on guns is just that, a dream. As it stands all it will get us is more wedge issues and bans on a national scale. Let the bickering be contained and overall the anti's lose thier power and influence proportionally.

I do agree with you, let the urbanites sleep tightly knowing the AR15's that were "on their streets" (spoiler alert: There are no AR15's on the streets) have now magically disappeared and let people who actually know the bare basics of guns and Canadian gun laws enjoy their lifestyle, it'd just mean I'd have to move to Alberta or something lol

Quebec and BC immediately, Ontario only if Ford loses or steps down. Remember, he's the reason their ban is even federal in the first place.

Told the Feds he wouldn't be permitting (his) municipalities to enforce a handgun ban.

Toronto/Ottawa threw a tantrum, as they do, and now here we are.
