Weekly Newbies & FAQ Thread - Post your questions here for PAL/RPAL application, timelines, CFSC/CFSRC, references & requirements, or general new to firearms ownership -type questions

This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

People who had to tick the box on their PAL application, for no reason other than that you had a past diagnosis from long ago, how long did it take you to get your PAL?

Have you contacted them at all to see where it is at?

Yup. Emailed them in December and got a slightly dismissive email with this at the end:

Please expect a 9-month delay from the time the application was received to the Canadian Firearms Program – August 12, 2022.

Then called in January and all they could say is that it's with an official for review

9 months just because you ticked the box, even with a clean record? Wow. If they are still not helping after those 9 months are up send an email/letter to the Ombudsman I suppose, just so that there's a paper trail with them too.
