Another thing to consider is, at least in Alberta (probably other provinces too) it's not legal to shoot from the road or have a projectile travel within a specified distance from a road. You would want to be careful with things like that. I've heard horror stories (on line so take it with a grain of salt) of people making a mistake while hunting and calling it in and they still end up getting charged. It sucks to see an animal suffering, especially when you can do something about it but you have to look out for yourself first and let the authorities deal with it. That way you aren't liable or putting yourself at risk of penalties or fines.
