Hello everyone, I FINALLY got my PAL in the mail! Took exactly 4 months to get, I live in Alberta.

Final PAL Alberta Timeline Update (non-restricted):

Application sent express mail: June 24, 2022

Application received by RCMP: June 30, 2022

CC Charged and initial review: Sept 15 2022

Application approved/issued: October 5 2022

Finally have license in hand: October 25 2022

Good luck everyone! And thanks to everyone for their help. Still debating if I am going to do the restricted.

So, you could have done your restricted and gotten your license just before the freeze. Any reason why you didn’t?

Sorry for the late reply - To be honest, I am not that interested in restricted right now, and definitely not handguns so I was not too worried about the freeze. I was trying to get the PAL before hunting season so I could go out and get some deer with my friends. Also, I didn't want anything else holding up the application I figured adding the R-PAL might have further delayed it. Maybe down the road I may end up doing it for a restricted rifle.

I don’t think RPAL would have delayed approvals, it’s the same process.

Enjoy hunting!

I had heard somewhere before that it was the same process, but that's just my brain over-thinking and telling me not to give them another thing to potentially delay it lol... I am literally going hunting this week so this thing came just in time

Thank you friend :)
